Wow! he joined the Children of God or "The Family". They are known for "flirty fishing", basically the use of prostitution to recruit members. They are also well known for their horrific and systemic molestation of children, including the leader's son, Ricky Rodriguez, who was molested from the age of two and finally, at age 29, murdered one of the cult members and then killed himself.

River Phoenix and family were in this cult for a while.

One of my best friends works with a gal who raised in it and molested. She just lost her mind at work and is on a medical leave of absence. This cult has created such incredible psychological damage it is unreal!

Did you know that off the top of your head or did you look it up? I just Wiki'd it and he's still with them. :what:

Not at all! I was just trying to figure it out!

The E-meter is bunk, IMO. It's really easy to get people to believe what they desperately want to believe. Didn't PAX say he did it and instead of thinking of the famous pinch, he thought of something totally different and it still registered? Also, they didn't find out the German journalist who did such a great investigative piece on the cult. If it worked, they would have ferreted that out.

They use the machine to make people think that if they lie, it will show, and combined with intense pressure, people feel compelled to talk.

Precisely. I'm sorry and no offense intended but I'm not buying the LRH was a brilliant genius who created an incredible system of truths baloney. Those who knew him then, including his own son, describe a shrewd charlatan, a sick, evil and cunning cult leader who mashed up a bunch of philosophies and psychological techniques and packaged it in a way that would appeal to the desperate. He found a great way to con people like mad, out of their life savings and their autonomy. :moo:

I fully agree with you on everything here. The ones that left say the same thing, only they were embarrassed to have been conned.

The entire system is pieced together tiny bits of this religion, that one, tiny bits of self help, some made up malarky just to see who was dumb enough to fall for it (you know you got a sucker then that will do all you say), a lot of misuse, abuse, and thievery. All of the reasons some of the longest standing religions began, to stop such b.s. and injustice to fellow human beings from continuing.

Sneering, Whining and Lying – DM’s Trademarks
Posted on July 16, 2011 by martyrathbun09 | 348 Comments

The only Trademarks Miscavige has left are sneering, whining, and lying – the hallmarks of the Radical Corporate Scientologist. They are about the only sure signs that one is in a Radical Corporate “church” of Scientology or one is dealing with a lock-stepping, Miscavige cult member.

While I was in Los Angeles late May/early June, as has become David Miscavige’s habit, he sent cult members to my home in an attempt to rattle my wife. After having publicly exposed Miscavige for sending two men each time, and his two year pattern of attempting to intimidate my wife and other independent women with teams of men, this time Miscavige sent a female cult member (with an unidentified man in a car nearby surveilling the scene).

In some ways the woman cult member was even creepier. She – as has become Miscavige’s modus operandi – did not fully identify herself, she gave only her first name. But, we have since identified her as Anna Paddock from Austin Texas. Once known as Anna Stilo....

I heard the real reason Katie left was because she was tired of TC making her wear a David McSavage mask every time they had sex.

...Yet today, Housh found 4chan grappling with an injustice no Internet-humor fan could ignore. Days earlier, a nine-minute video excerpt of an interview with Tom Cruise had appeared unauthorized on YouTube and other Web sites. Produced by the Church of Scientology, the clip showed Cruise declaring himself and his co-religionists to be, among other remarkable things, the "only ones who can help" at an accident site. For the online wiseasses of the world, the clip was a heaven-sent extra helping of the weirdness Tom Cruise famously showed on Oprah. But then, suddenly, it was gone: Scientologists had sent takedown notices to sites hosting the video, effectively wiping it from the Web.

Housh and other channers knew that Scientology had a long history of using copyright law to silence Internet-based critics. But this time, maybe because the church was stifling not just unflattering content but potential comedy gold, the tactic seemed to inflame the chortling masses. That evening, Housh logged in to an IRC channel frequented by like-minded chuckleheads and started talking with five others about the Cruise video. There was a sense that something must be done, but what? One of them logged out and posted a call to action on 4chan and some similar sites. By the middle of the night, 30 people had joined the chat. Within a couple of days, a consensus emerged: They would take down the main Scientology Web site with a massive distributed denial-of-service attack, or DDoS....

ETA: These guys are jerks, but in this case the enemy of my enemy is my friend. (metaphorically)

Here is an account of something that happened around 1980, that I cannot explain. And my mind is too foggy to remember all of the names. But I was single and in my 20's and living in the Venice Beach area. I had a large circle of friends and acquaintances in the area because I was a cocktail waitress and knew a lot of locals.

Anyhow, a very frightened and desperate young guy from Florida came upon the scene with pictures of his little sister. Her name was Lillian and he was looking for her and had a weird story about Scientology. He claimed that she had called him and wanted help because she was been 'held captive' by some members of COS. He claimed that she knew too much and wanted to leave the church, but they told her she had to be debriefed first. He came out to bring her back home, but she disappeared. Her apt. was empty and she did not leave him a note. He was in Venice/ Santa Monica area for a few months, scouring the neighborhoods, because she had told him she was taken from her Hollywood apt. to a small studio by the beach.

He told me that she was dating a bigwig in the COS and she was given info that she should not have known, because she was not that high up herself. But once she became uncomfortable, she called her brother and told him she was scared, because she was warned that she could not leave the area so easily. She thought they were joking, according to her brother, but then she called him crying, saying please come get me, they won't let me go.

All he knew was that she would call home occasionally and 'check in' and say they told her she was making progress, but could not leave just yet. This was before cell phones so it was harder to communicate freely.

I do not know what happened in the end, only that he spent a few months looking for her. But I assume he eventually found her, because there was never a missing person case that I know of that unfolded later on. But it was enough to scare me, and keep me away from the movement.

I hope he found her ok. I wouldn't be surprised if the COS could kill someone and get away with it. They are a lot more powerful than people realize. JMO

WOW I sure do hope he did find her. Maybe with the Kate story out now, we may hear more.
But I do believe that getting rid of someone to keep secrets is not impossible.

When did having faith need to be a secret?
what religion is on the hush? Unless it has a reason – often abuse.
GOD NEVER INTENDED for faith to scare the **** out of anyone

http://todayentertainment.today.msn...lls-suri-cruise-in-catholic-girls-school?lite

Come September, Suri Cruise will attend an all-girls school in New York City, according to The Los Angeles Times.

I really, really, really hope that divorce settlement specifically precludes TC from teaching scientology to Suri when she is with him. Otherwise, I predict there will be a very confused little girl in the future.

I have not read the tread just the last page so I will back up.

But Kate never looked happy to me, and neither does Suri.

Tom needs to go out with ladies from HIS chosen cult.
Why can’t he meet someone who wants to share that crap with him.
He has to stop trying to convert Ladies into cult members.
They all left him because of Scientology.
So why keep doing the same old trick - it is said that if you keep doing the same thing
and hope for new results you must be insane.

I am really glad that KATE's Father is a lawyer, who saw to it that her deal going in was set.
and her deal going out is set too. Tom could not mess with her. I LOVE IT.
But are they safe??? I sure hope they are :)

I moved to the Los Angeles area in 1981. I had never heard of Scientology before moving here. In the 80's I became friends with many people who began to explore Scientology. Most of them were aspiring actors and entertainers. Here is how they were hooked in, and it is still happening the same way:

If you want to take an acting or voice over or modeling class in LA, it is very expensive and you usually need a reference from someone. Some acting classes are 50 to 200 bucks per class. And you need to audition for them.

HOWEVER, there are always ads in various local newspapers for very inexpensive classes, with glowing reports about the great teacher and the great results of the class.
And so lots of aspiring young actors will rush to those inexpensive classes. And then they find out that the class is being taught by a Scientologist and is full of other members and as time goes on, some become indoctrinated.

I saw it happen myself. At first my friends would say, " I don't care, I am not joining Scientology, but this is a good inexpensive class, and I am going to stay in it."

But as time went on, they would be lured by what they 'learned' in the class. If they weren't getting any jobs at auditions, they would be told it was because the casting directors were Scientologists too. And there would be Scientologist Casting Directors coming to the classes as guests, and they would discuss upcoming projects they would be casting.

Meanwhile, the students would be told that their 'personalities' were getting in their way. And perhaps they should sign up for an introductory course to help them in future auditions...
SORT OF LIKE HOW TOM MET WOMEN....
He set them up to read for him... Kate was young and naive girl who idolized him growing up
so she was half way in the bag before she even got to her reading.

I've been thinking the same thing. Marrying someone from one's own faith is a deal-breaker for a lot of people. Why wouldn't TC do that?

Is this their way of recruiting? Seems silly now that his past 3 wives have "opted out."
