The toothy fake grin definitely makes me sick, but it's when he actually opens his mouth and allows words to come out that I feel waves of nausea sweeping over me.

You should have seen him on 20/20 last nite with the cast from Mission Impossible. All I can say is O M G. He was hysterical and I don't mean funny. He was talking/yelling over everybody, trying to be funny, laughing louder than anyone else, Soooooo hyper. Actually the whole bunch of them were behaving like fools. (I guess it wears off!).

I think quite a few people will be flocking to this film though. Production cost was about $200 million. They ended up with the Director of 'Lost' and the promo video was pretty good focusing on the Stunts which Tom did most of himself.

He is definatly hyper-active, he needs a chill pill.

To say the least. He is really really immature. When she asked him about the birth he tried to come off so profound - too bad he doesn't have a vocabulary.

I have to admit the stunts though are quite impressive. There's this one scene where he is on the ground under a bus as it's swerving out of control.

Diane Sawyer asked him if he would back off on some of the stunts now that he's a father of 3 and he just said "no, I like the adventure".

What he meant to say is, "no, I am an adrenaline junky". He also thinks he's immune to getting hurt. I have a feeling one day that won't be the case. To get a "high", he has to keep doing more and more... and one day he will go beyond his limit in his race to feel the adrenaline ripping thru his short little body.

I wonder how tall the little guy is? That's one of the reasons why I never thought he was cute.

And all to the good, IMO - bring it on!

I really have my doubts that Katie was ever really pregnant. I had my doubts before but I just watched a special on E! about prego moms at the beach and Katie was the only one in an oversized one piece, it even looked bunchy around the waist. She was never pregnant!

You're right about the "high" thing. He broke some ribs or something with one stunt but he's happy to let us know that he "heals quickly".

Well, I just can't tell you how relieved I am to know that Mr. Macho heals quickly. Not!

I've been sitting here this morning reading the news and ssomething just dawned on me.

Ever since Tom and Nicole divorced, her career took off! Her movies have done well and basically she's 'come out ahead' so to speak.

Tom, on the other hand, hasn't done well at the box office. After he split with Penelope (and I'd love to know why they split), and with Nicole doing so well, it appears to me this whole thing with Katie came about to draw attention to his career.

When they first 'hooked up' he had a movie coming out. All his 'bizarre' bevahior was to boost that film. Now, with another movie coming out, how convenient he has a baby to 'couch jump' about.

The whole thing seems to be very planned out with the timing of his career. Their relationship, now the baby.... wonder what next? Wonder who's idea all this was? His, his managers or the Scientologists?

The whole thing is so strange. I also wonder how many others he approchaed with his plan prior to Katie. It was rumored Kate Bosworth turned him down. I also think it's weird how he now calls Katie 'Kate.' Like maybe for Bosworth?

Personally, I hope his movie flops and he fades away.

I think she was pregnant. I have seen a couple of pictures where her shirt has blown up and you can see her belly.

Jules, from what I can tell, he actually interviewed a few people prior to "selecting" Katie as his new "girlfriend". One name that comes to mind is Scarlett Johansen (sp?). And if memory serves me right, he took all of them (or met them there) to the Scientology Center.

My guess is that he left Nicole because she wouldn't join Scientology. I would guess the same thing about his relationship with Penelope Cruz. Understand that's just a guess and certainly not fact. But I think Tom was looking for someone who was willing to be as knee-deep into Scientology as he is... and poor dumb Katie seems to have fit the bill.

I agree that Nicole's career has exploded since she was divorced from Tom. It makes you wonder if Tom held her career back, or encouraged her not to act, but to instead devote herself to just being a mom while married to him. It appears he's now doing the same thing to Katie.

I don't really think Tom's career was ever failing at the box office. Just the opposite. His movies have raked in millions and millions. I would guess the interviews for a "mate" were more from the Scientology part of his life than the movie industry segment. Even if his career were to end today (which I wish it would!), he has enough millions to last him several more lifetimes.

All JMHO.

Here come the rumors... straight from Star Magazine...

Tom Cruise Wants Sole Custody of Katie Holmes Baby

A published report will claim this week that Tom Cruise will use a preemptive strike of sorts to insure that if he and the fabulous Katie Holmes ever split - he would like to retain full custody of baby Suri.
“She was so excited about bringing a new person into their family, and yet there is talk about her baby being taken away from her before it even arrives.” Imagine how Katie must have felt when Tom dropped that bombshell!

“He simply said flat out that the baby would be his if they broke up,” the source says.
Even though a lot of us think this whole pregnancy thing was rigged from the get-go, even I don't believe this rumor.

I agree, I think they were a little embarrassed that she got pregnant before the wedding, since she had planned to be a virgin until that day. It seems like if they wanted to fake a pregnancy, they would have waited until they were married.

He is truly a nut! I wouldnt expect anything less from him though, in wanting sole custody if something happened between them.

Apparently Katie's parents aren't so thrilled with the baby only being raised as a Scientologist and not also as a Catholic:

The family of actress Katie Holmes might not be so thrilled with her apparent conversion to Scientology — contrary to a recent report.

The Holmes family is Catholic, but Katie's husband-to-be, actor Tom Cruise, has said their baby will not be raised in the Catholic Church. Cruise is an avowed Scientologist.

Says one Catholic individual whose spouse is close to the Holmes family:

There are certain members of the Holmes family who are not at all happy with this. I hate gossip, and would never otherwise spread what 'the word on the street' is, but in the interest of justice [some Catholics have been critical of the Holmes family's alleged approval of TomKat's religious views]
, bear in mind that these are Tom Cruise's words.

Those who know the family get a very different impression as to their appetite for their daughter's conversion.
That actually sounds like a legitimate statement from a family friend, and not just gossip.

The Cruise baby is a girl named Suri, which I have never heard before. Apparently it's Persian and Hebrew. Cross your fingers that Katie doesn't suffer from PPD.
Hi SadieJane,
I was watching CNN and heard them discussing the name.I went to the CNN site and found this;

JERUSALEM (Reuters) -- Suri, the name chosen by Hollywood couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes for their newborn daughter, is raising more than its share of interest in Israel.

It means "get out of here" in the local language, Hebrew.

News of the naming puzzled even those Israelis who thought they had seen it all after pop diva Madonna turned the ancient Jewish mystical tradition Kabbalah into a faith for the famous.

"I really don't know what they were thinking when they chose this name. It's a term that denotes expulsion, like 'Get out of here'," said Gideon Goldenberg, a linguistics professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. "It's pretty blunt."

Yaron London, a cultural commentator for Israel's Channel 10 television, had this rhetorical question for Suri's proud parents: "Why didn't you just go back to your ancestors' language, and call the kid 'Scram Cruise'?"

A Cruise family spokesman said last week that Suri has its origins in ancient Hebrew, as a variant on Sarah, the biblical matriarch. But that pronunciation is all but unknown in Israel.
