I think some of the stuff that follows (again quoted from the url in post #498) shows that NBC no longer has any respect for Cruise and thinks his career is over (IMO).

Tomkat were having a TomKitten. It quickly became the most photographed embryo in the history of mankind and from the inside too! Cruise bought a sonogram machine for those in-utero Kodak moments.

But in pictures, the once-radiant actress often looked secluded and gloomy.

David Spade (Comedy central show clip): This summer “Mission Impossible: III” will be released… and Katie Holmes won’t be.

Bloggers said she had turned from hip to hypnotized, from a-list to alien—the galaxy of Tom Cruise was closing in like a black hole.

Kotb: If you had to bring Katie a baby shower gift, what would it be?

Callier: One of those jaws of life.

Shelton: Big clipper things—clip her from whatever she tied to. Or, like a distraction bomb. You know what I mean? I probably bring her a key for—Kiefer from, “24,” help get her out.

Callier: Right—right. Jack Bauer.

Shelton: Bring her some Jack Bauer to get her out.

If NBC still considered him noteworthy, I cannot imagine they would allow him to be slammed as much as he was in some of the clips. I do believe Matt Lauer and NBC had the last laugh on Tom... and all of it was brought about by Tom's own ridiculous actions in the last year. I'm lovin' it!

And yet another wonderful headline for Tiny Tom:

Mission: aborted -- Cruise bruised at box office

The spy thriller sold $48 million worth of tickets in its first three days in theaters across the United States and Canada, distributor Paramount Pictures said on Sunday.

(snip)

Rival studios said they had expected the film to open to at least $60 million domestically. Industry analyst Brandon Gray at boxofficemojo.com said he had expected the movie to kick off with about $70 million, which is where the last two opened after adjusting for ticket price inflation. "A truly successful sequel needs to open bigger than its predecessor," Gray said, noting that follow-up movies usually burn out more quickly.

I agree with you.

The police reports were an interesting read. i get the impression Cruise was being stalked and it made for uncomfortable realisation the photogaphers following every movement of celebrities are a different breed.

in this instance i don't think Cruise was being paranoid.

***

as for positive coverage of him, certainly Cruise's credibility has ceased to exist, IMO.

he's had his chips, might as well cash them in and wander off to the land of 'former superstar' and retire from front of camera. no doubt he can continue to play a role in Hollywood as a producer and keep earning so long as his name isn't promenatly figured on any property turned out.

And yet another nail in Shorty's coffin... this time by the NY Times.

LOS ANGELES, May 7 — Paramount Pictures and its leading star, Tom Cruise, failed to live up to expectations this weekend when "Mission: Impossible III" opened to weak numbers at the domestic box office despite a barrage of public appearances by Mr. Cruise to promote the film.

The poor opening followed nearly a year of public mocking of Mr. Cruise, Hollywood's most reliable star and the centerpiece of Paramount's biggest franchise, across the pop culture landscape — by Internet bloggers and late-night comedians and constantly on tabloid covers — after his public, over-the-top wooing of the actress Katie Holmes and his outspoken remarks against psychiatry and antidepressant medications last year.
I think he thought he was too big (LOL!) to be touched by anything, but he was wrong! The tide has turned on the lil' shrimp.

------------->>>Ok so worldwide brought in 118 mil, and costs to produce the film were 165 mil. 165 was bought down prior to beginning the film from 200 mil. Tom agreed to 25% take on profits to bring production costs down. Hmmm.

No more couch jumping for Tom, first Brooke Shields and Toms expertise on how she should feel after birthing her baby. Bet Brooke is watching his numbers with tongue in cheek too.

Flaunting and taking advantage of an unwed mother, Katie, while jumping on Oprahs couch, bad PR. No pic of the baby either bad PR. They are not SHARING, bad PR.

I heard him described this morning on the news as "nuttier than squirrel poop"...

LOL, Julia, over the lil' freak wagging his arm and jumping up and down. If you watch him on TV, he truly looks like a man who dove over the edge into the deep end. Every movement he makes, including that chit-eating grin, are so exaggerated as to send alarm bells off in my head. He's a little scary, and there is NOTHING real about him. It's all a show for the public. Yesterday I read some trash about how he says "everyone who has a problem calls him". Oh, you bet, Tom. Everyone! He truly is at a point in his Scientology brainwashing where he perceives himself bigger than life. He obviously doesn't have a mirror, or he would know that was a lie!

This paragraph from the NY Times link hits the nail on the head:

Paramount executives said that exit polls this weekend showed the film's audience to be mainly over 25, adding that they hoped strong word-of-mouth would help drive a younger audience to the film as the summer continued. But market research ahead of the movie's release also showed that Mr. Cruise had lost ground among an important part of his fan base, female moviegoers.

But I believe tom (little t) will get a huge share of DVD sales. Do you think people will buy it?

Does Scientology classify itself as a religion and therefore not have to pay taxes?
Oh my yes! And with big names like Cruise, Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Lisa Marie Presley, etc., they are rolling in the dough. If some of them donated a mere 1% of their income, the church would be beyond rich.

A key aim of Super Power is to enhance one's perceptions - and not just the five senses we all know - hearing, sight, touch, taste and smell.

Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard taught that people have 57 "perceptics." They include an ability to discern relative sizes, blood circulation, balance, compass direction, temperature, gravity and an "awareness of importance, unimportance."
Well, obviously, the power to perceive if people like you, or are listening to what you say, is not one of the 57 perceptions, or ol' Tom would have somehow "perceived" the public thinks he's nuts.

Has anyone been quoted as having seen her? Grandparents? Except Tom and Kate?

Maybe she's still in her compression chamber.

No, only Tom has commented on seeing her. Not even his BFF the Travolta's have said a word about her.

This is such a joke, (nothing against the innocent baby, poor thing) and it was all for naught. Did Tom really think he needed this "relationship" to boost his box office receipts? He started wigging out at the same time as his "relationship" with Katie, not before.

Well, I expect to see pix of her very, very soon, since Tom will no doubt think showing off his Surigate (thanks for that one, Marthatex!) will boost sagging box office sales of MI3. OTOH, putting the new baby (if there is one) in my lap wouldn't get me off anywhere near one of his creepy movies.

How naive of Tom to name his baby Suri, all it will take is the tabs getting wind of "Surigate" and that will be her "new" name.

Again, why does he feel the need to use his personal life to make it at the box office? Everyone knew he was "out there" with the Scientology stuff before, but as long as he kept it to himself, the public seemed to not care. His divorce from Nicole, affair with Penelope, he managed to still have his fans in his corner. I guess Scientology took the brainwashing up a few notches?
