Nobody made Tommy Croslin tell his grandmother he knew what had happened to Haleigh and then implicate Cousin Joe (and by extension, reveal that he was present and knew what happened). He may well have been LYING about some of that, but no one was interrogating him.
There are many people in prison who have falsely confessed. Maybe Tommy is one of them. But there are also many who were guilty and confessed, at least in part, to what they saw, what they did, and what others did as well. I still think the big problem is that Tommy is now more or less clean and sober and he is starting to think clearly enough to know that he will be in prison for until his kids are out of high school and beyond. He will miss every Christmas, birthday, and 4th of July. The reality is sinking in.
