I've been on the phone with my best friend who left work in hopes of getting home! OMG! I got her to stop at a grocery, then once she got back on the road again she pulled over at a hospital. I was a nervous wreck hearing her scream and cry....she's now home.

My family lives in Univ. Park. Sirens going off :(

Salsa...have aunt and uncle in university park....cell is not answering...
please let me know how things are there.....Lato

School should of been dismissed at 3-3:15 according to local news

They should have been dismissed. But schools were not releasing students. All students are still at the schools according to HLN and Local news.

Just reported DFW is shut down. All flights diverted to Love Field. I live 2 miles from the airport and it was really bad. Just beginning to get reports of all the damage. The storms were massive and are still moving.

One of the best places to get important life saving info is from Websleuths.

Wish we had a severe weather forum....however Up to the Minute is truly up to the minute!

In Real Estate the three most important things are location, location, location.
In severe weather the 3 most important things are rotation, rotation, rotation.

Yesterday they just came out with the new tornado warning system, wonder if it was used today? If it was used how successful was it?

I don't know legalmania IMO the extreme warnings are for F3-5 tornadoes that are rain wrapped or a mile or two wide and on the ground longer than tornadoes that are short lived.

We will just have to see what happens this season and if the warnings need to be tweaked, changed or work as is.

I think Missouri and Kansas are the only states using the system at this time.

I was just watching the tornadoes in Lancaster Tx. and they looked big. The damage looked maybe to be an F2-F3. I saw it pick up a semi trailer and throw it about 100 ft. That's what I don't like debris. I was watching TWC and NASA has a new Satellite that covers an enormous area in a very short amount of time. Below is a little more about it. You can actually see that super cell storm in Texas.

I did notice Pete Delkus using the term "tornado emergency" so I'm guessing yes?
