"A tire also reportedly ruptured on take-off, one of 10 on this model of aircraft," Air Canada said on Monday.

"The aircraft opted to return to Madrid and is currently circling to use up fuel and lighten the aircraft for landing. The aircraft, a Boeing 767-300, is designed to operate on one engine and our pilots are fully trained for this eventuality."

Flight-tracking website Flightradar24 shows the aircraft, which took off at about 3 p.m. local time, circling the airspace above Madrid for more than two and a half hours.

Air Canada said there are 128 passengers on board.''

Does anyone know if the aircraft has landed yet? TIA
Hope so, ETA- yes! rbbm

BREAKING: Air Canada plane makes emergency landing in Madrid following ruptured tire
''An Air Canada flight from Madrid to Toronto has made an emergency landing following a “technical issue.”

Air Canada AC837, a 767-300 bound for YYZ circled the Madrid airport “for more than 2 hours, burning fuel” before eventually landing again. The flight is said to have 130 people on board.

A spokesperson for the airport stated that the aircraft called air traffic control only 30 minutes after its takeoff, requesting an emergency landing.

The aircraft’s emergency landing came only hours after a drone sighting close to the Spanish airport disrupted flights.

Madrid’s emergency services tweeted that they were coordinating with the airport, going to say that troops in the surrounding area were deployed as a precaution.''

For a flight of that length I wonder how long they’ll have to circle to get the fuel level where they are safe to land? I can’t imagine being in the passenger’s shoes right now. Plenty of time to think about what’s happening. It has to be terrifying.

The updates are confusing, not too sure now if they have landed or not.

“Everything is under control,” he said. “The cabin is very calm, everyone expects this to be an uneventful landing.”

Fioravantti, who works as a senior software engineer on geo-spatial products at Bloomberg LP, said the landing was a “standard manoeuvre,” adding that pilots are “very trained” for these situations.

“No reason to panic at all,” he said.

I was thinking the same thing, is it still circling or did it land? I flipped to the live feed on “u”tube and saw a plane land but they only showed it coming in and then cut away as the nose was coming down. Not even sure if that’s the correct plane although the feed seems to be down now but it could be my phone.

Fantastic news everyone, the aircraft has landed safely
Thanks, great news!
