'Our staff were faced with a multitude of different injuries,
mainly stemming from:
back sprains,
head injuries,
anxiety,
some headaches, nausea and vomiting
due to the fuel exposure',

said Operations commander
at Peel Regional Paramedic Services Cory Tkatch on Tuesday."

this is the best video so far IMO

That is the video I saw earlier and it is the best i've seen so far. It does look like the right landing gear does touch down first and just collapses. Was there a wind event that tilted the plane at the last moment? I assume it isn't all that unusual for a plane to land on one gear first then the other. Why did the right gear collapse this time? The right wind sheers off and the left wing lift then carries the plane over on to its back, not the wind. I'd like to hear from the pilot experts that i saw yesterday (Cox, Feith, etc) comments after seeing this video.

"You are at greater risks, getting into your car to and from the airport. On our nation's roads are 95% of all transportation deaths ... aviation is incredibly safe," Homendy said

As survivors streamed out of the upside-down plane that crash-landed, they faced the challenge of the freezing temperature. There was no time to grab their winter coats, so many passengers ended up on the tarmac in short sleeves. Dozens of the passengers gathered near a fire truck and huddled together for warmth. The collective heat of the passengers and pilots enabled them to wait it out until they were taken to the comfort of the terminal

A spokesperson for the company says the Delta Care Team is telling passengers that "this gesture has no strings attached and does not affect rights."

Carlson and another man assisted a mother and her young son out of the plane and then Carlson dropped onto the tarmac. Snow was blowing and it "felt like I was stepping onto tundra."

"I didn’t care how cold it was, didn’t care how far I had to walk, how long I had to stand — all of us just wanted to be out of the aircraft," he said

"When I first saw (footage of) that aircraft upside down at the airport, I was like: 'How can that happen? And how can anybody survive that?'" Michael McCormick, an assistant professor and program coordinator for air traffic management at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, said. "It was absolutely astounding to watch the people actually climbing out."

I said to my husband that I couldn't believe they didn't send a bus or something out to the plane for people to get on and get warm.

Keep in mind this is just minutes after the crash. It takes time for the airport to react and find vehicles to get sent that way. Airports don't keep heated buses on standby in case there is a crash.
