If hippocampus is shrinking having memory problems . . . . common . . .

somehow memories . . . short term memories are formed in hippocampus . . . and REM sleep over a number of days . . .REM - rapid eye movement . . . . memory is not encoded in one place in the brain but multiple . .. if ihippocampus isn't working memory isn't being encoded . . . .

are we talking about just memory or about people are capable of like drive car
fighting back or fleeing the scene . . .. once a person enters this state any acts with fleeing seem to be able to occur . . . get into car and drive away, fly away, horse runaway . . . .. people certainly able to drive a car = some people might become a zombie but not all

car . . . .fight or flight type situation . . . .things go on real time . . .things going on can feel change - time slows down . . .time is an experience can be influenced by chemical change - even drugs

ever do work with hypnosis?
yes advanced training with Police Dept . . . I used to teach hypnosis . . . but if the memory isn't there - they ain't there

if there is nothing there - there is nothing to get

memory o things not under stressful situations. . . .read thru JA's journals . . . jr high or high school when she was quite younger a teenager.

does it help when people write things down "our memories"
object

generallspeaking when people write things down does it help to memory

I did when I was in grad school . . . when you write it down 2 more things are learning . . .imprint on your hand (muscle memory) and see it another way to use senses to remember

likely improved her memory - object
clarify he is speaking in general

generaly speaking keep a diary and write down memory . . . help person to remember what occurred . . . .. absolutely I help come up with exercizes for elderly to write things down . . . it strengthen the memory . . . more modality used is better memory people doing movement while learning have better memory than just sitting and learning

acute stress . . .. . DSM IV . . .. . Diagnostic an Statistical Manual . . . .bible of Mental Health D/O . . .. .. every 10 years approx. MH professionals get together to update

acute stress affects the body certain behavioral and psychological effects of the book DSM . . . if this person have these criteria laid down by these learned people we can have the particular diagnosis

DSM-IV . . . . this s the one he bought . . . . he doesn't use DSM-IV TR (text revision) . . . .DSM V will be out in a few more months

stress defined as condition where amygdala kicks in, heart pounds, sweat . . . something very severe trauma

condition occurs, amygdala sends out signals/hormones in the brain = fight or flight situation . . .

the amnesia part of the power point will be admitted to the jury

Anybody notice that JM is barely objecting? He's letting him go on and on...maybe he knows he can discredit him easily?

WTF is Wilmott smirking about?! Really, it's ridiculous. Between her smirking, Nurmi's slouching and nose picking.....The DT screams unprofessional.

Wouldn't the acute stress and fog have kicked in when she was body-slammed?

She has better self esteem since doing so well in Prison Idol

There sure as heck wasn't anything wrong with her self esteem during the 48 hours episodes!

Is this guy a zoologist or what, why does he keep mentioning monkeys and lizards?
Come on now...

Close. He's a behaviorist ;)

Okay...all adds up now..he is a Les Nessman, I just spotted a bandaid on his left index finger. Jodi probably bit it 'cause he put it somewhere naughty.

Reading this thread is hilarious when you're actively blocking out the Doc. Like every random, tangential statement that could be made is tossed at you all at once and NONE of it has to do with his testimony!

I love you guys. You're keeping me (almost) sane.

Nurmi's body language cracks me up! Still has his back to Jodi.

IMO I think Nurmi doesn't much care for her, I remember reading that he asked twice to be removed from this case.

I was waiting for the judge to say..."you may not take the powerpoint presentation with you to the jury room for your deliberations. However, the restroom that you use while holed up in there for hundreds of hours per week while we try to get out S*&% together in court will be fully stocked with the presentation in the event there is a shortage of toilet paper."

What does the brain scan of a liar's brain look like? Similiar to amnesia?

  • #2,035
This isn't so bad really .. even if the jury think she did fog up (which I doubt) they still know she killed him 3x, and all the lead up premed.

experienced some major trauma remembers it in minute and painful detail. I don't think memory loss and amnesia are common outside of soap operas. But, hey, I'm not a big time NJ psychologist who reads Time.

This (in my humble opinion) is utter nonsense.

I survived a very, very bad car accident (hit a tree at 45mph head on w/o having time to brake - car trying to pass me rammed me and into the tree I went)

This was WHILE I was being stalked, harassed, and going through years of psych/emotional/legal/financial abuse... and my recall of the accident and what my ex did (including his physical abuse of my child) is crystal clear.

My passenger in the car (who did not have an airbag) and had close to 200 stitches in his head and face because he hit his head on the windshield - being 6'4" the seat beat wasn't helpful except to crack his ribs - remembers NOTHING about the accident. I only wish I could say the same. I nearly died on two separate occasions while in ICU.

Since these traumatic events - some occurring over time and one a single event, I have suffered from PTSD (and more) and have never been the same. The psych abuse affecting me far worse - I still cannot answer doors and the phone makes me jump sky high and shake. Remembering, vividly, is a constant problem. I'm basically feel broken. Still.

I have signs of brain injury/trauma/changes - (brain scans) but I did not hit my head during the crash.

JA is completely inauthentic to me, and this psychologist isn't adressing anything useful in my opinion. His CV clearly states he will help get a positive outcome. That, to me, means he will tailor his finding to suit the desired outcome.

I believe he was called upon to help create JA's SD, not analyze it. The DT knew she was full of it with the ninja story.

And some amnesias are helpful when trying to avoid the death penalty.

Well we don't need anyone's memory. We have the evidence and that says GUILTY.
