ITA.

I know that at her age, I was WAAAY more interested in sorority socials and keggers at the beach than I was my studies, let alone observing first hand the workings of our judicial system.

My post meant no disrespect to that young woman, I only meant to point out how her opinions rose in the estimation of WSers after she posited in a way the majority agrees with.

Prior to that she was written off as a nice, but uninformed child. For liking Wilmott.

I just think it's kind of funny how she is only bright and capable if she agrees with the gang here. ;)

I think she is pretty cool for even WANTING to know how this machine works. Yay her!

I don't have a problem with JW. I think she is very compassionate to Jodi. Giving Jodi more attention than she deserves. I do feel sorry for them having to defend Jodi but someone has to do it. I just do not always agree with their tactics. To me, a defense attorney should tell their client they have limitations as to how far they will go. I think this defense has crossed that line a couple times too many. jmo

Katie Wick said it was an elderly lady that vomited.

Awww, that makes me feel really bad. I hope she's alright. And maybe she realized she was sick and just couldn't move fast enough. Poor thing.

The biggest difference I notice is the lack of media in Canadian trials. They still have to have the dude/dudette doing the courtroom sketches here. :) No photo/video allowed in the courtrooms here at all.

Ahh...sorry mods. Back on topic now

She lived vicariously in her OWN mind I think. Half of what she says is how she'd like something to be rather than in any way what it is.

Wow, what a :goodpost:

I wish there was a way to slip this into rebuttal and/or closing. Would explain the motive behind lying in her own journals as well.

O/T - have you tried Maxalt? I have tried everything under the sun and this is the only thing that comes close to making them go away. Sorry for your suffering. They are brutal! There is no way in HELLO JA had a true Migraine if she was sitting in court. Aspirin, Advil and Motrin do not work on real migraines, she is lying.

Yeppers. Maxalt, Axert, Imitrex......starting way back in the days when Ergostat was cutting edge. It was sublingual and a very bitter pepperminty taste. Ick. For years I couldn't stomach peppermint because of Ergostat.

I do agree those meds are Godsends to some sufferers, but I never got any relief.

As for Tylenol or Motrin... i have been known to swallow a couple along with a Coke (caffeine/vasoconstrictor) to take the edge off, but truly it's like a bandaid on a severed arm.

I do think JA is lying but after hearing peeps whine about sinus headaches or tension headaches and call them 'migraines', it just rolls off my back now.

It used to piss me off....and then I'd get a migraine! Kidding. Sorta.

What on earth? What do you think she was doing or trying to do?

Why did she have to get on the floor to do the hair flip? I think the room was probably smaller than it looked on camera, but she could have scooted the chair back or turned sideways on the chair or simply stood up. She knew she was being recorded. I think it was all for show. Someone, somehow, somewhere would see that recording and be seduced by her irresistible charms (Detective Flores, to her befuddlement, was apparently immune to her charms) into cutting her some slack of some kind.

Scene I'd like to have seen: She flirtatiously does her stripper-style hair toss and hits her head on the table in the process.

Yes, thank you! I didn't realize that until after I wrote my post. I was going to go back and edit, but I figured it would be more efficient (and faster) to get called on my error so I could reply and agree.

So much for calling her credibility into question! :) Not to mention having about 30 corroborating witnesses for the event at Travis' house.

(Guess I should correct my post anyway. Doing that now).

Thanks again! :)

But the problem still remains---Jodi didn't really 'do' anything other than say 'hey that's my boyfriend, back off.' etc. We all know she was a psycho, but this particular incident does not really prove that.

So you can have it backfire if the jury thinks she was 'normal' in terms of what girls in their dating days do when at social events. I am sure many of us have drunkenly confronted another woman if we thought they were treading on our territory.

So if Juan brings this group of people forward and all they can really say is Jodi
yelled at her in the bathroom--kind of anti-climactic, imo.

Too bad they could not prove the slashed tires and emailed threats though. That would be important testimony. JMO

As long as it's threw a computer screen with a lot of antibacterial spray on it. You couldn't get me without 100 ft of her in person.

I thought the state had to offer a lesser charge. The defense has already asked to plead to 2nd degree

I've watched a lot of Law and Order so I know that's only true for a plea deal. This, however, is different because it's done after all the evidence is presented in the trial and the request is given to the judge (likely with strong objections from JM).

I have missed the threads and chat in last 2 days.

I have had a very very good friend Who today was buried in the National Cemetery in Georgia. for veterans, they give you 2 lines, 15 letters each. His headstone will say....God and country, beloved by all..

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the memories of your dear friend.

I haven't followed this trial as closely as most of you due to time constraints, but I am waiting with baited breath for JM Closing Argument, and am hoping he addresses this question of mine early on...

Where is the proof that Travis EVER actually engaged in any form of actual intercourse (vaginal/oral/anal) with Jodi???? (or anyone else for that matter?)

I have seen (heard) substantiated evidence that he DID engage in "fantasy phone sex/texting" and did allow himself to be photographed in the nude, but where has anyone testified of knowledge that their relationship had actually been consummated? Did he ever discuss with close friends, etc?

95% of Jodi's statements have been PROVEN to be lies, so why the sudden jump to believe she is telling the truth about their sexual relationship??!! Didn't she even admit during cross that some of her stories didn't really happen, but were instead just "fantasy"? (re: the Travis pulling up in driveway, her coming outside to perform oral sex and then her retreating back to house and he drove away)

I am just having a real hard time believing this young man, who was apparently very strong in his convictions of a Mormon lifestyle, responsible, etc would lead a double life as a "sexual deviant" or think Jodi was his "dirty little secret no one would every know about?

Is it possible that Travis justified in his mind that he was still following the guidelines for sexual activity if he didn't cross that line? Are the acts of "sexual talk" and nude photography forbidden as well, or could these acts be justified in your mind as staying within a fine line?

Since it hasn't been proven to me that a sexual interaction relationship actually occurred, and if I apply the credibility of Jodi's statements regarding everything else, the whole sexual control/abuse/aspect flies right out the window!

I think it is possible that Jodi was attempting to manipulate Travis INTO a sexual relationship from the beginning (thinking once he crossed that threshold for the first time, he would be hers forever) and all future actions (manipulations, recordings, photos) by Jodi were out of frustration that her sexual appetite was not working with THIS relationship.

The last trip out to AZ was (in her opinion) a last ditch effort and when he again refused her advances, and perhaps left the room to shower, she realized she lost for good, and snapped? Travis, obviously, had moved on and was excited by his new relationship.

The character assignation of this young man by Jodi and her defense team has been disgusting to follow and I hope JM will take his opportunity in closing arguments to drive home the young man Travis was!

No one has ever dared mention the place this woman went back to live. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be judgemental, but when she went back to Yreka, she moved into basically a shack. Her room there was about the size that she probably lives in now. The photos the LE took (from the "burglary" that occurred there) include chite all over the place and junk piled up high. So when she was inviting TA to visit her in Yreka, was she enticing him to her little den at the Grandparent's abode? TA had never seen where she had lived or what her "arrangements" were. I'm not the least bit surprised that she's comfortable in jail. Not much of a difference from what I can see - apart from Starbucks and road trips.

moo

I saw photos of her grandparents home and it was a cute, tidy little house - except for her room. Someone said it before, maybe the didn't want to let her get too comfy in the hopes she'd get out sooner.

Okay...not sure what your purpose is for calling me out on my posts??? We get it...you think the two cases are like comparing apples to oranges. Go back to my OP ... I only responded to say that we are more lenient in Canada with our criminals (hence giving out sweet deals) than in the States. IMO our countries do have differences in how we treat criminals.

Can we be done now? This has a been a great place to visit and present opinions...not to be criticized for them or taking apart each and every thing a person says. :hand:

Yes, we are done now. You took a case where the crown (LE?) screwed up and you presented it as the norm for Canada's legal system. It is not the norm. It was a f up, and you used that to say Canada isn't "tough enough" with our legal system, by using that example. How about using an example like the Victoria Stafford case???? All I'm saying is, don't use a screwed up case to say Canada has weak sentencing laws. Thank you. Peace.

bingo!

  • #898
She lived vicariously through others and wanted what they had, both in achievement and possessions. She found Travis and thought she had hit the jackpot. When he finally rejected her and sent her packing back to Yreka, that was the beginning of the end for Travis. She couldn't stand what he had sent her back to. She thought she was above her grandparents' modest income and means. Yet they were the ones who opened their already cramped house to her. Then she stole from them.

MOO

How long did JA and Travis "date"? TIA

Really good point. It sounds like great evidence when you first hear it, but it would be shredded on cross and make the state look like it was reaching.

Yes. The headstand was before cuffs, the hair flipping was after.

In the hair flipping episode, Jodi looked like she was posing for someone to find her on the floor. At one point, she tries different positions for her legs to look the best.
