I think the family should be allowed to have the ribbons on in court. I would see a problem if the entire courtroom, with the exception of JA's family, has them on, which they did. Who wouldn't want to support Travis? I'm glad the supporters took them off. I believe some of the media was wearing them as well. Only Travis's family should be allowed to have them on during the proceedings. :twocents:

Particularly given the fact that she has admitted to slaughtering their brother.

No. I don't think so.

I think there was an appeal at another trial over the spectators wearing buttons with the victims picture on it. It went up to the higher courts I believe, and I wish I could remember the name of the case.

If we're talking in strictly a legal sense here, 'victim' ribbons should not be worn in view of the jury. As others have said, it could be a potential appeal issue, and in all actuality could sway a juror, even if that juror doesn't realize it. As reviled as the defendant is, she still deserves a fair trial.

This morning, as court was getting started, Wilmott was bustling around Miss Thing, clearing an area all around her on the desk, taking things out of her reach. By the time Wilmott was done, the ONLY things within the reach of JA were a SINGLE styrofoam cup and a piece of paper. And probably a golf pencil.

Oh, that's so demeaning to her!! Is it wrong that I giggled when I read this? Can they stick her in a corner next with her nose against the wall? ;p

Back from work... Ok so from what I heard today, Doc Samuels jury questions seem to disqualify his diagnosis?

Not to mention the man himself...

"Do you always make this many mistakes in your evaluations?"

"Isn't your evaluation necessarily based on lies since that's all the defendant's told you?"

"Aren't you a little too fond of the defendant?"

"Are you a completely impartial and objective third party?" [Answer: I try to be, always.]

"Dissociative amnesia? Did you double-check your diagnosis? Because it looks more like selective amnesia from the jury box."

I am kind of worried about the family's decision to keep the ribbons on. Although I sympathize, and would probably do the same thing if it was my brother, I am worried that it could become an appeals issue down the line.

That's what we were told, concerning our shirts, so we opted not to wear them to the trial.
