Nurmi is getting a workout today...

Too bad 'sidebar' isn't as exciting as it sounds.

This is stupid to use sleeping or not sleeping in the jail as a criteria for PTSD. Of course she had trouble sleeping. Anyone would have trouble sleeping. I imagine jail is noisy, not to mention it is full of CRIMINALS!

The jury has common sense. Anyone who has ever spent a night in a hospital knows you don't sleep in a foreign environment filled with people up all hours of the night.

What a waste of time.

I have to take a white noise machine whenever I go anywhere. I guess if I was on trial, I'd have to sleep during sidebars. :blushing:

What on earth is the argument here? And why does it take so long for the judge to overrule it? Snippets of that tape have been allowed in multiple times.

Can't have JA's words coming back to bite her can we now? Of course we can. Too bad we can't have Travis' words brought in too.

I love how he got in that JA hit her mother on multiple occasions "for no reason." Front door may be closed but...Let's get 'er in from the backdoor!

I hope the jury is getting good and pizzed with all of these disruptive sidebars. They surely know who's to blame ;)

Now I may have a better understanding of why mommy chuckles and treats this like a circus. Maybe she doesn't give a carp about Jodi anymore and is there, not in support of her, but to see her get the needle?

MOO

There is a grim determination among parents of psychotic and sociopathic children. We will be patient. We will be supportive. We will not allow the cruelty and gawdawful behavior of our child to harden us or make us cold as parents.

I visited my son regularly when he was in prison and made every court appearance I could. I was a good parent to him from birth and that's my statement to the world. Do you understand?

Also - the chuckling is stress relief--gallows humor in horrifying circumstances

We, like you, are mystified about how the sociopathic child got that way while secretly there are tears and doubts that maybe you did something or didn't do something that wrecked him or her.

I always thought it was brain damage from being held in the birth canal too long waiting for the doctor to arrive (they did that in those days).

I feel sorry for her mother but no where near as sorry as I feel for Travis's family. I hope JA gets the death penalty and I am fairly sure her mother and aunt will be there then, too, so they can have the peace of knowing they did everything they could in their roles.

JM never objects every second....he lets DT go about their way and cleans it up when he questions or hold it for closing (or in his case rebuttal) DT does NOT look confident when they object over and over

I'm sure the jury is seeing these DT interruptions for what they are - attempts to hide the truth.

JA busy writing her mother another note.

Martinez has something for us to hear if JW will ever sit her butt down. Judge get control of your court room.

Reminds me somewhat of Cindy Anthony.

You just know Casey treated her like ***** for years, yet she just defended her.

I think I would feel a bit more sympathy for Sandy if she didn't try to peddle the pedophilia forgeries.

Who knows though, clearly Jodi has been abusive to her probably her whole life, so maybe Jodi just manipulated her and maybe Sandy is not very sophisticated and really believed those letters were genuine.

I kind of have a different take on that now. I think Jodi was abusive towards her mother to the point that her mother was afraid of Jodi and maybe tried to accomodate Jodi much in the way that Jodi says she tried to accomodate Travis to avoid his wrath. I really cannot entirely blame a person in that situation for their actions that are the result of having been bullied and intimidated.

When I read the article about the letters, it sounded like Jodi's mom was delivering them begrudgingly and not entirely voluntarily. And besides that, her daughter is facing the death penalty -- if one of my children were facing the death penalty, even if I knew they committed the crime that put them in that situation, there's no telling what crazy behavior I'd engage in to try to save my child's life.

Jodi's actions are what put her mom in that situation to begin with, so I have no trouble blaming Jodi -- and I feel for her mother.

I also felt sorry for Cindy A. and still do, even though I cringed at some of her behaviors. I cannot imagine being a parent of a child facing the death penalty.

Willmott looking over the transcript of Juan's interview - too late now, willmott

I LOVED how JM banged his desk in response to the quack's anger.

Me too!! I think this doctor is going to be like a spoiled little brat on stand, not getting his own way and he will have a hissy fit!

Anyone get a screen shot of JA's scrunched up face while Juan was questioning the doc about her mom ?

  • #917
I'd don't know about y'all, but I would consider someone who hits their mother with no provocation to have an aggressive personality!

I hope Juan is able to ask Dr. Doofu$ for his views on that topic.

I really do feel a lot of compassion for Jodi's mother. Sounds like Jodi has always been horrible to her mother, yet her mother has been there for Jodi every single day in court -- came out to Arizona to help her move and give her money, and even that resulted in Jodi fighting with her mom and ordering her to leave and go home

That is because she is a mother. No matter how badly your child treats you you always want to believe that they are sorry and they will change. You never stop loving your child. At least most mothers don't. I hope her love for her child doesn't involve denial about who they really are, like some other mothers we have heard about.

I think Jodi is capable to outburst. I see a lot of JW reaching over behind the monitor in what looks as if JW is holding onto Jodi's arm. jmo

Not sure. Seems like he's trying to humanize her or sympathize with her for the jury's sake, but I'm not sure what the underlying purpose is.

I think it does the opposite. Calling her Sandy takes away the designation as "mother". Saying Jodi's "mother" causes sympathy. :twocents:
