Maybe I heard wrong but I thought I just heard on Dr Drew that supposedly there was a former GF that went through a similar experience with Travis?

Well, not "everybody" made fun of Nurmi's weight, Wilmott's clothes, or Dr. Samuels' hair.

And if LaViolette spews garbage on the stand, then I will criticize THAT. Not her appearance.

Please do not assume "everybody" is so petty. :(.

Hi Frayed,
I NEVER made fun of Wilmott's dress or hair, Nurmi's weight, or Samuels hair.
However, this is just a forum of opinions, differing opinions, and if a person wants to testify for a woman who SLAUGHTERED a young many for NO reason then I am not bothered with how many jokes are made toward that person. Justice for Travis is my concern heanother not who is or is not being petty.
Frankly, I barely keep up with all the posts but some of them are incredibly funny.

Calling it a night here folks :) TY for some fantastic posts and certainly things to think about it :) Stay safe all. See ya tomorrow :) And prayers going up for the furbabies that are having surgery and not feeling so well :)

I think anything that makes fun of people that has nothing to do with their character, etc. is just low and petty. Like Jodi's body parts, her appearance, Samuels' appearance, Nurmi's appearance, etc.

It's just mean spirited. I have brought this up before.

I'm going to jump in here in case anything I have said caught your attention and concerned you as I do talk about Nurms becuase he pushes my buttons. ;)

If I've made comment about Nurmi's appearance it's based on his own actions and not anything he can't control. That would be horrible and I wouldn't want to present myself like that. Fact is, he is a slob. Hand shoved down his pants while at the bench in front of the entire room, the reclining with his leg on the desk like he is kicking back at home, picking his nose, digging in his ears, putting his fingers in his mouth etc.. If Martinez did any of these things people would be appalled.

It is of my belief that whether or not you are being paid $1200 to $1500 per day just for attending court (like he is), you still need to act professional in the courtroom. He just doesn't seem to care and I think that is what bothers me the most.

I personally think Nurmi can look very nice. His ties are neat and so are his socks. It shows he does have some personality. He just needs to understand he is in a high profile death penalty case being shown across the country. He is representing his client and himself. He needs to keep his finger out of his nose and on the pulse of his defense.

Jennifer looks great every day. You can tell she puts effort into looking nice for court. From her hair to her nail polish matching her outfits.

Mr. Martinez never acts inappropriate. Juan does not have his fingers shoved up his nose. He is not shoving his hands down his butt nor is he reclined with his feet up on the desk waiting for lunch. He cares about how he represents his client and himself.

ALZ is in a tough position.

She's very busy with the schedule she describes and I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that SHE HAS NO IDEA that her career is on the line.

When my friend, a doctor, injured her neck in a car accident, she became an expert witness on drug interactions. She developed a reputation and word of mouth spread that she could be trusted to testify based on the POV of the side hiring her, pros or def, and it did not matter because she stuck to the science and the cases.

I worked for her as a paralegal and we skipped studies and cases which were not persuasive for her employer's side. Also, I can tell you for a fact that she did not care one whit what went on in a given trial before or after she got up to testify.

That's why I have a hunch that this highly-qualified woman does not really understand that her "I understand both sides" attitude is why she has been hired to explain why Jodi Arias fits the profile of an abuse victim. I'll bet she has NOT studied SM relationships and has NO INFORMATION about the case other than what the defense has given her in order to elicit the opinion they want.

Which means she will be blindsided by Juan the Machine. He will start with "Would it surprise you to know, that is, would it make a difference if you knew that------" Now she is in the crosshairs. Will she compromise her principles to continue to support Travis as an abuser and Arias as the victim? Or will she refuse to answer based on having insufficient information?

If she does the former, her career will be over. If she does the latter, then the prosecution will quickly give her the information she is needed, with their slant, and the defense will object (overruled) and the defense will have made a huge mistake.

Mark my words, Juan Martinez will switch their expert witness to testifying on behalf of the prosecution and he will do it so skillfully it will be like watching a master sculptor.
Beautifully worded.

I don't mind general nicknames like that for someone you're aggravated with. The McGoo thing came from HLN because I heard that, lol, so it seems general.

It's the personal insults that I've never liked, where folks pick on some shallow part of a person's looks, most often. It's probably because I remember how bad it feels to have someone do that behind my back growing up! I understand it's just frustration, but it really is so petty to pick on shallow things, imho. A good all-purpose insult like Yahoo works great for me if you're angry at someone :)

I take it you're another Swift fan like me?! Awesome satirist :D

I personally cannot stand to see a person demoralized because of looks, or mistakes they make. It is okay to point it out, but not to keep on pointing it out. I think the doctor was basing his findings on lies told by JA. He made mistakes but he admitted to them. I will admit that towards the end of his testimony I was feeling sorry for him and wanted JM to leave him alone. jmo

Why was the doctor at the end of the day standing in the middle of the aisle for a few minutes by himself? I can't figure that out and I just came in the door.

I completely understand what you are saying, however, I see it in a different light. The actual defense in this trial is asserting that Travis abused the defendant. On this show, they are merely using that point, making arguments to "their jury", presenting "their case" and asking their jury to decide if he did or didn't. Dr. Drew was on for the "State" and made some valid arguments regarding Travis' behavior, and basically said it was JA who was the abuser.

MOO

Good point. The thing we all have to remember which is hard at times is that we all are in a different "place" and we read and absorb comments from different points of view. Some people may be having a really bad day, some people may be overly happy and joyous, some people........You get the point.

JMO
I think we all can be a little more receptive to the real intent of comments and not be so harsh if the comments are not mean spirited AND we also at the same time can be just a little more careful before we post to be sure we are not offending a subset of the population.

I think Laviolette came across as well spoken and intelligent. And like many others, I liked her. I don't like the fact that she is going to testify about things that are not true, and that will infuriate us and hurt TA's case. But I do have some prejudgements about why she may.
I do a lot of dog stuff, and foster dogs in my chosen breed for rescue. I've dealt with dog people for years, and there is a sub population of rescue folks that constantly frustrates me. These people are heavily involved in rescue, and have seen many, many horrible cases of dog abuse and neglect. And they get hardened, and dark, and they begin to believe that very few people should ever own a dog, because most people don't treat dogs well in their minds. They make it impossible to pass their test to prove that the adopter "deserves" a rescue dog. They seriously think that the vast majority of people abuse or neglect dogs that they own. I've been told it is similar to LE folks who being to believe that most people are criminals if they can get away with it, and they trust no one. I think that ALV may have lived through so many horrible cases of abuse that she sees it everywhere - even where it is clearly not. And she truly believes that Jodi is abused, even if we don't. I think her experiences have trained her to see most relationships as abusive to some degree or another... And I feel badly for her if this is the case. just like I do for the rescue folks I deal with - their whole life becomes a paranoia of sorts, and they aren't happy people, though they do help the dogs for the most part. I wish I were more eloquent to describe what I mean, but I'm falling asleep... Anyhow, I think her motives are good, but her perspective is whacked. That's how I can like her and hate what she is going testify all in the same breath anyhow.

I agree with you, so please don't take my post the wrong way. My disgust for Nurmi has nothing to do with his size. It has everything to do with his inappropriate body language (yeah, the finger up the nose is disgusting), his sarcastic tone every time he objects (you can almost hear his disgust for the prosecutor dripping off of each and every one), and the fact he can't sit up in his chair right and act proper in a court of law. His style of questioning is dry, boring, and dragged out to the point of insanity. He's a big boy, yes he is. But that doesn't mean he can't present himself in such a way that he doesn't make me want to vomit.

Then there's Wilmott. <mod snip> extraordinaire. If hissy fits won trials she'd be at the top of her game but, unfortunately, knowing your case and objecting when it's appropriate to do so wins the day. You don't earn points with the jury for being the best in "drama queen antics".

Neither did I care if Dr. <mod snip> had bad suits, or a bad haircut. His credibility, however, was important to me. And he fell FAR short of that mark. The "name that score" game he played with the test results lost me. This is important testimony in a death penalty case. He should have had his chit together. Period.

I reserve judgement on the latest DT "expert" until I have seen where she will go with her testimony. I don't care what she wears, or what her lifestyle choices are, I care whether or not she is going to continue the slandering of the victim which has been front and center in this trial. If she does, then she is no better than the rest of the so called defense team. IMOO.

Are there any screen snips or pictures of the DT's new witness. tia

i don't think this dv expert will be all that helpful to the defense. like the last witness she is basing her opinion on what jodi told her and the same tired text, sex tape & emails. this dv expert talked about all her experience at church, police departments, battered women shelters ect. all the places people go for help. ja never went for help at all. jm will expose lies that ja told her and this witness too will go down in flames. jmo
