Boy has Jodie aged, she's not having ACESS to make up? It's almost like Pollyanna is withering.

JM either received some great advice about "toning down" or he took some kind of "chill out pill" today, was somewhat refreshing....Guess we'll see tomorrow if it's still the same, didn't seem to work for to many days in the past....Ready for this trial to be done, jmo

I am also so ready for this trial to be over. I find myself recording it and then fast forwarding through most of it. How much more do we have to take of Alyce? I lost interest last week in anything she had to say. Let's wind this up, folks.

From what I did see today, IMO, JM made all his marks - He showed the jury that this witness didn't have access to info that was not provided to her by JA. She even said that if she had known what JM told her, she would have looked into it further (or something like that, but leaving doubt). So the jurors already have doubt in her...Then, JM continues with instances that the "expert" was not completely given all the facts by the defendant...But, she still was able to make JA out to be the "Snow White" if you will.

Interesting! I'd love to hear more about this if you have the time.

Hi Nezumi, the technique is about using personalization, "healthy shame", and "KISS" in times of conflict or with resistant clients (those with addiction issues which BTW are a sector of the population that present very similarly to batterers in DV situations). It allows you the speaker (i.e., the counselor) to retain and utilize your power while having the appearance of politeness and respect in an attempt to cast the other (the addicted/SA'ing client) in an unfavorable light to "magnify" the unreasonable-ness of the person you have to break. This is a serious generalization but should answer your question. BTW I have nothing but disdain for this manipulative technique, FWIW

BBM

That's not the case here. She is not going anywhere. She will stay in jail, regardless. One juror can HANG a jury. That doesn't mean a walk. She'll be tried again.

Try to be calm- this is not like FCA. We have a confession, cause of death and the killer's DNA at the scene.

Oh, I so hope this won't be like that Florida mess. I've been taking to worrying lately about something going wrong. I loved Jeff Ashton and thought he did a great job- same as Juan, but I think Juan is much better. Do you think this jury will be smarter?:please:

Thanks for your honest responses. I've been nervous since the start of her cross... Don't know why. jM is even abrasive with his own witnesses huh? Just his style. We'll get her. I just saw JA smirking and joking at the table and it totally freaked me out, like our we losing this round? I'm glad no one took offense that I was bugging on JM.. I love him he is such a fighter and champion of justice... Just wanted to vent. Glad it was only me feeling that way. Phewww :-)

JM showed Jodi a zoomed in pic of the closet. It showed sneakers and shoes neatly lined up. Everyone saw that, including Jodi. She QUICKLY offered up,"I stepped on the edge of the shelf". Under normal circumstances, who would remembet a detail like that? And its something noone would remember if you are running for your life. There was never a gun in the closet. She went there with the gun she stole from her grandfather. Also, I dont believe there was ever a rope. Remember that story? She pretended Travis cut a rope. That is suppose to explain why thete ead a rope in the immediate area. There was never a rope. Do you see any rope in background pics they took?

If either of them were tied up, wouldn't they have taken a picture of it? Seems like an interesting picture if you re taking sexy photos.

Wasn't that amazing? Travis recorded his fear, unlike the murderess in all her journals. Not once did JA mention fear. And yet, LaViolette dismissed DV evidence because it wasn't the story she wanted to hear.

I thought it was ironic when she told JM that the reason she didn't believe that Travis was afraid of JA was because he didn't act like he was, he kept going back to her. Umm, who hopped in their car and drove hundreds of miles to see the person that they were so afraid of? Yet JA's same behaviors aren't held to the same standard. When Travis goes back to her (and by the way he didn't. This was in May when he thought she was rid of her.) it's because he wasn't afraid of her but when JA goes back to Travis it's because he is controlling her and manipulating her. Didn't ALV write a book about why battered women stay?

In what defense expert witness textbook does it say you should be snarky & combative toward the prosecutor? If you did your job, the facts should stand for themselves & withstand attempts to discredit by the DA. Unless you fudged a few things on your CV to start with...

Awesome!:floorlaugh: thank you!!!

I don't care about this woman's feelings. I care about justice being served on this heinous creature Jodi arias. I am simply worried he is turning off the jury. If he did that we might lose justice for Travis. That's the ONLY thing I am majorly concerned about. The smallest thing could sway 1 jury member and its over!!!!!! Out the doors like Casey Anthony. I adore Jeff Ashton , but folks have said the jury favored Baez .. God knows why... But Ashton too was passionate about his case and may have appeared cocky at times turning away the jury.??.. I want justice for Travis as much as anyone on here. I was simply freaking out that JM was coming off too abrasive to make his very good points he was trying to make.

Juan Martinez is an excellent Prosecutor. He is doing his best for Travis Alexander who has NO VOICE. Would you rather JM be coy and submissive?

I think the stupidest thing the witness said was that JA doesn't have a pattern of lying. Oh, except for that little murder thing. Nothing important. And apparently being a cold blooded killer causes a good, honest person to become a liar.

Actually no he isn't abrasive with his own witnesses if you go back and watch. The only time he did get testy was when one deviated from what she was supposed to say. An attorney asks questions he already knows the answers to and when she didn't answer what she was supposed to he did get a bit testy. She didn't lie but she didn't say what he expected her to say in the way she said it :waitasec:
No really....watching his own witnesses and even certain ones with the defense, it was all very straightfoward. They answered the questions, nothing more or less. It is so easy to see who is lying or fudging the truth and who isn't, because they just make these long painful drawn out cross-examines instead of just flipping answering YES or NO. On cross it is supposed to JUST BE yes or no. This has only happened with some of the defense witnesses, none of the prosecution's..

I wane to preface by saying I am 110% pro prosecution... But I am soo mad at Juan Martinez. Why does he need to badger LAViolette .. He is being way too arrogant .. He's coming off diminutive, angry and feels the need to constantly belittle. Ughghg. If I'm feeling bad for her I just sure hope the jury isn't either. He didn't need to address this witness the same way he addressed arias or Samuels. I just don't want his terrible cross exam to sway the jury away from 1st degree. This is a horrible cross exam. Why can't he soften his tone? Does he not get how his points are being lost within his 🤬🤬🤬🤬 fights? I love Martinez, I admire his work and dedication to this case. I just don't like that he's being counterproductive. If it's just me please tell me. I hope it is. Please we can't lose this one. My humble oo!

Of course he is angry. He is PROSECUTING a lying murderer. And this woman got on the stand and called the dead victim the abuser, and said in her professional opinion, Jodi was the victim. SO OBVIOUSLY JUAN IS ANGRY.

This woman is trying to convince the jury that Travis was a pedophile and a violent abusive man. So of course Juan is angry. He is livid, and it shows. Thank Goodness.

If he softened his tone he would be acting respectful towards a witness whom is carrying out a miscarriage of justice, imo.

6 1/2 years later...I have a lot of self-doubt, low self esteem, you'd think I was mute unless I know you already because I'm just that shy now, and huge big bad scary anxiety that didn't even start until 2 years post abuse. (My relationship was 10 years and was almost entirely psychologically abusive.)

And that's with therapy too. I am, shall we say, a work very much still in progress? :giggle:

You forgot to mention that you are very brave.

The jurors respect Juan Martinez. In fact, I heard that the jurors only started taking notes again while ALV was on cross and even threw in some questions to the basket today. That should tell you something. Juan is PROSECUTING JA. He knows what she did to Travis.
