trial day 42: the defense continues its case in chief #128

Wow. it's 1:00 here and my eyes are getting blurry, but I have one question for everyone:
Did anyone hear JM thinking she was the judge (when JM was talking about the books that AL gave to JA). She objected about something or other and the judge said "overruled" and JM said what I thought was "sustained". I could almost see her stomping her little feet like a spoiled, petulant child. Is JM thinking she's the judge now? Did anyone else hear this or I'm going coo-coo?

We all have blurry eyes this time of the night (depending).....If you are referring to the defense atty (what's her face)...Yes - BUT I still haven't even seen the end of today's trial.

I also noticed the witness on the stand today pretending to be the Judge. Telling JM to restate the question, etc.

I don't think they spent much time downstairs. She didn't want to chance them at the table or desk and a roommate coming in and seeing them. I think she ran down and got their food and she just kept him busy so he wouldn't want to go downstairs.

Travis must have spent some time downstairs. While it's not known if he cleaned any of the tile floors downstairs, it's clear he made preparations to do so. The floor cleaner, which Zach Billings said Travis bought several weeks earlier but hadn't assembled, was left in the middle of the living room. Zach returned home to find furntiure stacked on the sofa, which he took down after a few days. And, as Zach's girlriend noticed, Travis left his ring and watch on the kitchen counter, which should have been a red flag, but Zach didn't give it any more thought.

JA said ordinarily she'd chill out on the sofa, but since he had furniture up there, she couldn't. One of them was on TA's laptop computer from about 4:19 pm to roughly 4:54 pm (a total of 35 minutes), which was only about half an hour before the first of the shower photos.

JA claims they had sex twice that day, once in his bedroom and once downstairs in his office. JA, as everyone knows, has no credibility. But IF she persuaded him to leave his floor cleaning long enough for a quickie in his office, maybe that would be an excuse to get him into the shower to clean up. We'll never know how she got him into the shower to "pose" for photographs, so close to the time his roommates were due home.

He had less than 2 tablespoons of undigested food in his stomach, according to the autopsy report, so whatever he had to eat, it was well before the attack. (JA testified that after their nude photo session he ate a bowl of oatmeal.)

I explained in the passed why I thought she hid the gun ect. In Crater Lake Park. After that. I learned that MM worked at Crater Lake National Park. I wonder if she had any assistance? She drove over 2800 miles.

Matt McCartney (or whatever) ? Oh Boy - I don't think this is in evidence.

If this doesn't scream desperation, I don't know what does.

Besides being such a desperate move, I do have to laugh that they try and blame Juan for releasing evidence to the media. They are aware of the freedom of information act, correct? Juan has nothing to do with what is released.

Seems like DT is spending more time watching TV, reading the internet doing anything to finds ground for a mistrial rather than trying the case at hand.

You cannot stop the inevitable from happening DT. Just move forward and let's finish this this trial.

Just my opinion, but I think Nurmi & Co. filing all these motions today proves that the DT knows that Juan is annihilating their "star" witness.....:great:

I agree. Here we are, freaked out and worried that they might possibly get a mistrial, and the DT is straining and stretching and begging for one. Desperate, much?

BBM: You have your own answer there.

Oh, but don't forget. He threw a pen. :giggle: :giggle:

I wane to preface by saying I am 110% pro prosecution... But I am soo mad at Juan Martinez. Why does he need to badger LAViolette .. He is being way too arrogant .. He's coming off diminutive, angry and feels the need to constantly belittle. Ughghg. If I'm feeling bad for her I just sure hope the jury isn't either. He didn't need to address this witness the same way he addressed arias or Samuels. I just don't want his terrible cross exam to sway the jury away from 1st degree. This is a horrible cross exam. Why can't he soften his tone? Does he not get how his points are being lost within his 🤬🤬🤬🤬 fights? I love Martinez, I admire his work and dedication to this case. I just don't like that he's being counterproductive. If it's just me please tell me. I hope it is. Please we can't lose this one. My humble oo!

Vhead, have you seen his questioning of all the witnesses, both prosecution and defense? There is a definite pattern. When the witness is forthcoming and answers the questions he asks, he is respectful and almost mild-mannered, or at the very least very mannerly. If they are evasive (Jodi, Samuels, LaViolette) he raises his voice, he cuts them off when they begin to meander and run away from his questions. He gets in their face until they do answer his questions, and his job is to get those answers any way possible. It is very clear what's going on, and the jury sees it as well. Judging from THEIR questions of at least Jodi and Samuels, they mocked those witnesses themselves!

I am very surprized that you would feel any sympathy for her at all, frankly. She is being paid THOUSANDS of dollars to testify, her approach to assess Jodi vis-a-vis domestic violence is nakedly biased, much of her testimony has HURT real victims of domestic violence, and she appears to be a complete fool regarding the validity of her source, namely Jodi. Not to mention the long-winded, heinous character assassination of the person who the defendant SLAUGHTERED and in front of his family, who then has the audacity to elbow her way to the victim's sister and get in her face. I can't see how anyone could feel sorry for her over some loud, blunt and direct questions from the guy she KNEW would be questioning her.

I also think they know what is coming up in rebuttal.

No, we are NOT freaked out or worried about a mistrial. Nurmi just wants this one out of the way as to not disturb his new private business he is trying to start. Juan Martinez knows EXACTLY what he is doing and we have a smart jury. Not to worry, folks.....

Just read KNs Motion for Mistrial regarding JM and misconduct. Laughable. He must forget the comments he's made about JM. Seems to me that the Defense realizes how badly things are going, thanks mainly to the Juror's questions, and they're grasping at straws. I can't wait to hear the Juror's questions for ALV!

Actually no he isn't abrasive with his own witnesses if you go back and watch.

Did you see him question Det. Flores on re-direct? He was pretty ticked off at him for some testimony he gave before the trial started, about the order of attack. Juan made him clarify that he misunderstood Dr. Horn and almost misrepresented in a hearing what Dr. Horn had said. Juan was pretty loud and testy with him and Flores is his witness.

Re: Jodi Arias self esteem, personality characteristics, etc.

Please remember that any assessment of these would be based on what she herself is reporting. And being the chronic liar she is, any psychological test she would ever take would have to be suspect. Even something as simple as the Beck Depression Inventory.

The supposed "controls" built into standardized psychological tests are really not very good and most of the tests can be manipulated. And yes, the jails are full of people who have manipulated psychological tests.

Sociopaths manipulate everyone and everything in life. Butsupposedly many of them get along fairly well in prison.

Willmot definetely ..did try to give a signal with her hair. It was so obvious?

No i didn't see that..saw it with the one girl though. I didn't know he got testy with the Det.

LaViolette has presented herself as a well known, very educated domestic violence expert. LaViolette has stated that many have enjoyed coming to hear her speak - that he works are used by police - her works are used in other countries such as Canada.

LaViolette - given her self description - would have had to met opposing opinions (to hers) during her career. LaViolette chose to take the job of being an expert witness for the defense in a high profile case.

LaViolette cannot be naive - and worldly as she presents herself. High profile cases draw attention - but the attention is short lived and from a small percent of society.

Changes the status quo - fighting for laws to be changed - everything that a domestic violence expert would be familiar with is an uphill battle. Being an expert witness for the defense should be easy in compared to the uphill battles of her career (that she describes).

It wasn't too many days ago that LaViolette was laughing in the courtroom - this does not look like a woman worried.

Arias needs to take responsibility for her actions -Arias butchered Travis Alexander. Arias planned a covert trip to Travis Alexander's house - Arias murdered Travis Alexander and went on living her life. Instead of Arias - knowing that she murdered TA - laying "low" Arias goes to the memorial, writes/sends an 18 page letter to TA's family, sends TA's grandmother flowers.

It has been almost five years - Arias and her Defense Team has had more than enough time to prepare. Travis Alexander's life was taken away from him.

Interesting. I didn't know about TA's ring and watch. I have wondered if Travis had taken out the cleaning materials the night before and not the day, June 4, JA, was there, either openly or hidden and stalking.

After the texts of May 26, and his calling her sociopathic and evil, I cannot believe that TA would have entertained JA all day, as though there was nothing unusual about her dropping in.

I have to agree with Laviolette that Travis wasn't afraid of Jodi. Had he been afraid of her, he wouldn't have had sex with her on that fateful day. What man can rise to the occasion with a woman whom he deems has the undoubtful potential to harm him?

IMO I don't think they had sex on the day he was killed. I think Jodi made it up. The nude photos of Travis on the bed don't appear as if he was "that into her" if you know what I mean. And the naked photos of Jodi could have been taken by Jodi herself with the camera set on timer. The photos on the bed show the comforter still on the bed. If they had sex, wouldn't the comforter have been taken off the bed?

I think Travis was under some kind of duress the whole time Jodi was there before she killed him. I don't know what she did....but the bed photos were forced as were the shower photos.....all MOO ;)

Did anyone else hear that the DT is trying to preclude evidence regarding the weight limit of the shelves in anticipation of it coming up in the rebuttal? Is there any way JM could find out the exact make/model of the shelves? I was thinking that they must still be in the home and, in that case, they could be used as evidence.
