Please excuse my ignorance but what are the benefits of a mistrail?
I guess there is a new trial? If yes, does JA stay in jail or can she be
released until the new trial??

I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be granted bail while waiting for a mistrial. Remember when she was arrested she had her car packed up with her things and a knife and a gun. It appears she is a flight risk.
