O: Amplifier...they're two big (and now explains it's a Pioneer brand)

Finally points to the light and where he draped the jeans.

I'm not buying that story. What did he do on previous nights to black out the LED light? We have one in our bedroom that bugs the heck out of me, and I just make sure the computer is shut down and the screen is off. Blue LED lights can be very distracting.

So does OP pick up a random piece of clothing to cover it every time he sleeps in his bedroom? At this point, a more permanent solution should have been in place (ie, a piece of black tape, or unplug the thing altogether). I wish Nel had asked if the blue LED light turns off if the sound system is turned off.

Just my opinion.

No she rebuked Nel for calling OP a liar. While in the witness box she added.

Really strange because iirc Nel called OP a liar several times yesterday and the day before and I am sure Roux called two witnesses liars and not a dicky bird from the judge then. I am sure in the UK witnesses get the same treatment under cross, i.e. "I put it to you you are lying about such and such...". Indeed in a case I was litigation friend to, our own barrister called one witness a liar which finally broke him down and the truth tumbled out.

I don't understand...

I think the point OP is trying to make is that the scene hasn't been deliberately changed to suit a prosecution claim, but that if a couple of things have been moved in a room, how can you agree that everything is in the right place.

A valid point, but it needs to be proven that things have been moved.

Hmmm, not sure blowing up the picture will make a difference since it'll still be the same angle.

I agree, the legs on them do look awfully big to be a woman's. I wish they'd just bring the jeans in so we could see.

I don't know what his point is with the burglary and the gun on the highway?

Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk

The defence claim is that OP is desperately afraid of crime all the time and that this explains his unreasonable behaviour in 'accidentally' shooting Reeva dead.

OP has made claims of being the victim of crime on numerous occasions in support of this DT argument.

If Nel can show that OP cannot corroborate that he was indeed a victim of crime, together with his leaving balcony doors open and having an extensive alarm system on his house it completely undermines the DT explanation for his behaviour on the night in question.

Right. Reporters were pretty gobsmacked by it too since he's been doing it for days and this is the first mention.

I feel bad for both attorneys when Masipa chides them. I want to give them an ice lolly to make them feel better or something. Strange, I know. ;)

I want to give one to OP too and plead with him to come clean and end this with the truth .
He needs someone who still loves him to tell him to do the right thing .

Did he actually say the words, "you're lying" or did he just insinuate it? And if so, maybe it is ok to say they're lying but not to call them a liar.

Nel doesn't do it all the time.
When he does he must believe 100% that he's got him on that point at the moment.
But now told that he can't call him that when he's in the box.

Point of order--can he play with words?
Seems like he CAN say, "you are being untruthful" because I think I've heard that from Nel too.

Maybe "lying" is OK but "a liar" is not?

  • #271
So, he can't call him a liar, but can he say "you're lying"? I guess it's the same.

I've been stunned every time he's accused Oscar of lying. Outright. Improper.

By rights, Oscar could say the same to Nel! Haha! Saying "you're lying" repeatedly could be seen to sway the judge and subconsciously imprinting "fact and truth" in her mind, inaccurately.

Also, Roux should've been able to tell PT witnesses during cross that they're "lying". He never did, once.

But here I cannot resist, so please forgive me it's too appropriate: "Liar, liar, pants on fire." :) :)

Hum, I've wondered about that. Apparently, you are not allowed to call the witness a 'liar.' But does that also extend to the accusation, "you're lying"?

You can say a witness is lying but you can'y call them a liar....there is a difference.

I wonder how his dog managed to get inside the house to wreak havoc downstairs , or was it already inside ?

Where is the stereo in relation to the bed?

they were reevas jeans..

Nel. now . was this the first time this light bothered you??

I had been bothered by it before. . I had covered it before..

Nel. you didn't take steps to cover it permanently? . that's not the reason you woke up, the light?

I don't know why I woke up.. it was warm.. I closed the curtains, I turned back to the fans, that's when the blue light bothered me, so I covered it.. it was at this point I heard the noise/

Nel lets go slowly. yu wanted to cover it.

Oscar, I was in the process of covering, I had picked up the jeans..when I heard the noise.

Nel. reference E 68.. first E 61.

Oscar.. if yu look at the amplifier.. the volume swivel, the bass swivel....

~snipped~

BIB .. this is the point where I felt he nearly tripped up and had to check himself .. because he didn't mention the 'closing the doors' bit and then suddenly realised he had to remember that in his version he must never look in the direction of the bed or see Reeva going to the bathroom. I distinctly heard him check himself at that point and really thought he was going to go right off piste .. my heart was in my mouth for a minute there! He checked himself by saying "I turned back to the fans" .. but actually, that doesn't make much sense to me because he'd already sorted the fans out, he was now onto covering the LED light with the jeans (or at least was supposed to have been). Why did he 'turn back to the fans' after having closed the curtain? Doesn't make sense ..

I agree with you, but I have sincere faith that the judge won't be swayed by such things and, given her admonishment, doesn't even want Nel to give that possibility. I think she wants to be and will be very fair.

He has done that several times between yesterday and today. I thought it was strange, don't think that is allowed here in US, is it?

That and so many other objections by opposing lawyers I am use to hearing, such as conjecture, argumentative, leading, badgering, etc. It seems like there as hardly any objections. Strange for me.

Where is the stereo in relation to the bed?

It faces the bed. In the police photo the stereo (with that annoying blue LED) sits on top of a drawer/something cabinet.

Next to the cabinet are two speakers. The black fan is on the left of the speaker. In photo, not plugged in.
