Andrew Harding, BBC, tweeted this witness poses a serious problem for the prosecution, presumably because he didn't hear what the prosecution witnesses heard. But...
It also means he never heard Oscar screaming like a woman...and in providing that explanation, Oscar's defence team conceded what the prosecution's witnesses heard.
MOO
And he also noted that between the words "screaming" and "crying" was a matter of personal interpretation.
I have a sneaking suspicion M'lady fancies nel
MiLady is in a good mood today!
Didn't hear any screaming. Didn't hear shots. Didn't hear cricket bat.
So, why is he testifying?Other than to tell us how emotional Oscar was after shooting his girlfriend to death, discount what prosecution witnesses testified to hearing, and how rude South African police were?
Sorry I'm getting confused, and way past my bedtime. But point I was trying to say he said "man" not "woman."
ETA: and this part he said when Roux was asking him questions.
Barry Bateman ‏@barrybateman 32mI thought he said he thought the first two sets of people who asked for interviews were probably media and they were very rude. He declined. He did say when the SAPS arrived, the following week that they were extremely polite and helpful. Maybe I misheard or misinterpreted.
