  • Next slide is from the autopsy room. Pollanen warns the following photos will be "very confronting". "Let science be your guide," he says.

Wonder if MR used to kill the animals this way when he worked for the slaughter house. Maybe it was done brutally there and would explain why this was HIS chosen way. I remember in the CA case, she buried her daughter the way the family buried the animals. Usually, they say, people do what exactly what they already know. Makes me think if the crown thought to investigate it, that would show MR was the mastermind and not TLM.

  • Also asks jurors not to let emotion cloud their judgement. Hundreds of photos were taken. Only key ones presented.

Good point about that, he had experience in killing. He killed animals too didn't he, before he killed Tori? JMO

I'm grateful Tori had such a reputable, experienced professional looking after her. I think this Mr. Pollanen used every iota of his knowledge, experience and skill to bring justice to the victim.

So true, Shasta, and I am grateful that little Tori had so many experienced and professional heroes looking after her.

It is comforting, but, so very sad and painful that her short life ended this way. :(

"Look past emotion, let science and your own observations be your guide." - Dr. Pollanen to jury on photos of body exam

Pollanen pointing out fragmented skull, jaw, thigh bones

Next slide shows the body, after the removal of the garbage bag. Legs are skeletal. Skin is decomposed. Skull can be seen, but is broken

So much graphic detail in the #ToriStafford trial. I wish for amazing support for her parents. I hope it scares parents into vigilence.

Jury told what was normal decomposition and what was caused by injury

Public watching closely, some look upset. Not busy in viewing courtroom today.

And I guess if we saw the diagram Rafferty drew of the area we could determine which one is more accurate, oh wait a minute..

Well Derstine is trying to prove there was no sexual assault. So of course he's going to argue every little detail of that drawing... especially the position of the silos. He's trying to get his client the least amount of jail time. We know he's not completely innocent, according to his lawyer he did help clean up the crime scene. He conspired after the fact (with TLM) to cover up a murder as well, and probably destroyed evidence (car seat). JMO

No garments or underpants on lower extremity of body, Pollanen points out.

Leg bones are separated at the knees. Pollanan says that's not unusual, and not the result of an injury.

Pollanen points out Tori's lower extremities were not clothed. One of his first observations.

Next step in autopsy look for foreign objects present. Shirt only garment on body

Tori was only wearing a shirt when she was found. Pollanen says it was hard to make out due to decompositional fluid.

Shirt removed from body had writing " a girl can dream

Shirt had image of girl with guitar

So derstine is going to try and prove no rape and hope the juries conclusion of a child found with no pants on is because MR thought she would be more comfortable without them or anmials took them off? Seriously, some lawyers will do anything for a buck, even sell their soul.
