Derstine is presenting more letters written by McClinitic while she was in custody. They are adorned with gang symbols. A March 12, 2008, letter describes aggressive behaviour towards detention staff members and an incident in which she threw a chair across the room. McClintic makes light of the fact that there was no repercussion for doing so, suggesting staff were unwilling to restrain her.
Derstine reads from one letter from March 21, 2008, in which McClintic says she wants to "take the first person I see" before going into gruesome detail about how she would torture and murder that person. The letter continues and says McClintic would dye her hair and put in contact lens so she wouldn't be recognized.
Under cross-examination, McClintic tells the court the letter was written before she met Rafferty.
