I've never been successfully pick-pocketed but did catch a guy trying one time in a night club district in Paris. I wheeled around and his hand was in my backpack (in a pocket I knew had nothing in it). He turned red, whipped it out, and ran off. I was too amazed/amused to say/do anything!

Ouch, This reminds me of the one time it happened to me in a NYC nightclub after I first moved here. I had a french girl visiting me..and had her ID in my wallet with my ID and other cards..I had it in my back pocket and with it being so packed didn't notice a thing. After it was gone, she was so PO'd she went off dancing and making out with some other guy. Brutal. I never ever put my wallet in my back pocket anymore.

Thinking about the extra shoes, SS husband mentioned in recent media report that extra shoes were high heels. I had assumed that extra shoes may be other sneakers or walking shoes. I surmise that high heels would be for going out to club, restaurant, church??. So if boarder room man took her to bar on last day on her own free will, wouldnt she want to wear her heels that she carried with her all day? Why drag them around unless one planned on going out for good, drink, etc. later? But if she didnt go out at night, than why drag extra weight around in backpack? Just trying to apply logic to the illogical scenarios.

Good thinking. My only thoughts on this is why would she be going to a bar in heels in the middle of the day.

You made me think of something though, I keep wondering about her bag and shoes she was wearing etc....but say she wasnt killed at the scene of the crime. What if she WAS killers else wear after she had put on her high heeled shoes. What if she wasnt wearing her coat because she was indoors when the murder took place. Perhaps it could explain why some things weren't found at the scene. Perhaps some of her things never made it the scene in the first place.

Good questions. Maybe TK wasn't that attracted to SS. Maybe he viewed her as, how can I say this, not so sophisticated.

Early on, when we all first learned of @Taylloo, I found lot's of images linked backed to him in some way or another, either through comments left on other photoshare user's images or cached images I believe he photographed himself....guess what all of these photos had in common? Gorgeous women, I mean really gorgeous red carpet model types. I personally think SS was a beautiful young woman but I think his taste in women may be a bit above that. To be honest, now that we've been informed of his pedigree and now are able to put a face behind it, I don't see his type being all that into a young woman like SS. Sex here and there, ok but chasing after, maybe not.

We have to focus on that landlord and this new fellow that has popped up.

I think you make good sense. The only thing - how high a pedigree could the guy have when he is okay with having sex in a "toilet"?

One of the few American press organs to get details of the crime scene DIRECTLY from a Turkish LE official:

The Daily Beast spoke to the head of the Istanbul Homicide Division on Thursday:

Ercikti then outlined the facts of the case. Sierra was struck in the head with a blunt object, almost certainly the cause of death. She tried to defend herself, and parts of her clothing were torn in the struggle. Her body was covered with a blanket when it was found inside a cavern of the ancient walls, obscuring it from view. Ercikti said Sierra may have been killed nearby, her body then dragged to the spot where it was found, with the intention of hiding it there. It was far less likely, he said, that she had died elsewhere in the city and then been transported there.

The site adds on this claim from another American paper that supposedly talked to officials DIRECTLY:

Turkish officials have told the Daily News, however, that she was found wearing only a T-shirt and underwear.

And that's it.

I have a new theory, but it isn't about what happened to SS. My theory has to do with the media.

My theory is that from the beginning they've been getting their information from us. Now that we're out of ideas, they have nothing to report.

Coincidence? I think not!

But seriously, you may be more right than you think! Other then "official" sources, I am sure they scour the web, and which site comes up with a ton of commentary on the case? Here! I am sure they find our theories to be amusing as well as insightful. I bet we could even make up a scenario and if we talked about it enough with some seriousness, it would get picked up.

Umm just my opinion but I don't think his pedigree means that a man with a sex drive is above doing it just about anywhere.

I believe I posted that article in its entirety yesterday.

It still doesn't tell us a damn thing about if the shoes she would have been wearing were found or not.

a) True identity of Taylan revealed - Keyser Soze found!

I just have to say, I really enjoyed the movie the "Usual Suspects". Kevin Spacey as Soze was quite the plot twist. Only movie I have ever done this, took the disc out and put it right back in and watched the whole thing over again.

Right on cue, the NY Daily News runs the story from this morning picked up from the Turkish press that floats the theory she was kidnapped, killed elsewhere, and placed back at the walls:

No new information. It's all just culled from the Turkish press report which was pretty much all speculation anyway.

If they have talked to some homeless people that have frequented that area and asked if the blanket had been seen there laying around there before the murder and if they said No, the blanket had not been seen, then that would be a good cause to believe that she might have been kidnapped, killed elsewhere, wrapped in a blanket and dumped in the walls.
But then there is the question of how much blood was at the scene of the crime and how did she get all the scratches.I can see her getting all the bruises on her legs from maybe kicking her but what kind of scratches did she have.Surely, they could tell from the scratches what they could have been caused by .

It all started six weeks ago back in New York. A truck full of stripped gun parts got jacked outside of Queens. Nobody saw anyone but somebody f***ed up. They heard a voice. Sometimes that's all you need...

All this talk about sex in a toilet reminds me of the scene in that movie w Richard Gere and Diana Lane, Unfaithful, where the wife has sex in random places w that French dude....

Not sure what to believe on that, but if Taylan is not suspect it does not really matter. If irrelevant to the case, I would hope the media would not have those headlines taunting it, but of course they will do that bc they want to make the case scandalous...

What was she doing the week before she went to Amsterdam?

Haha, I agree. Um, well, I come from a good family, and there is no way in h*ll I would ever let them know the crazy shenanigans I have got up to with sigs or dating partners. It's just being adventurous and playful.

What kind of bar was she in with Taylan or whatever his name is? Pretty gross having sex in a bar bathroom.

Also I just want to comment on the fact regarding Sarai's potential infidelity. I think we all have to keep in mind that it really doesn't matter if she did or did not, or if she had multiple partners in Turkey. We do not know where she was in her life, we do not know what her relationship with her husband was. Perhaps he said to her, go and have time to yourself, you don't have to tell me anything, and when you get back we can figure out where we are, and where we as a couple are going. Perhaps he just loved her so much that he was willing to give her that freedom without judgement.

I think that we should focus on the choices she made or didn't make as they relate to what may or may not have led to her death, but not to make judgements on who she was as a person.

I'm not saying anyone is doing this, I just want to make sure we keep this in mind as we proceed with dissecting these details.

I remember one of the first articles regarding her husband, he was talking about SS and said something along the lines of, "She had curiosities." I actually took that to mean she had been married at such a young age, never really living the single life, and she was at a point where she - well, had curiosities.

At least we know the info they get from this forum is likely to be more accurate than what they're coming up with from their own sources. I predict we'll start seeing media reports citing "anonymous sources" that are direct quotes from our threads.

I have a question about what Hurriyet wrote today, they said he said: “Tek suçum bir mesaj atmak” or "My only crime was to send a message" - where did he say this? Can't find it anywhere...

Not at all. Depends on if it one of those large, very lavish bathrooms, or a unisex one where there is plenty of eye candy and curious eyes wondering if anything is going on..but no one knows..and the anticipation of being caught. Also depends on if it is with a stranger..then I concur more, but if with your sig other and just being adventurous..I am all for it. I would prefer a large lavish bathroom at some haute restaurant or club. To each their own.

My actual question is how much more they know? Is there anything that is not been revealed?
Maybe its the hostel guy. They were talking, he knows the area etc.

I wondered about that, too. And sorry if if it's been discussed and answered as I haven't had time to read all the posts.

The last person to see her alive (alive being the key word) seems to be the Airbnb host. He says she was alive on the 20th. It's only texts after that, which anyone can send, (ala Catfish).
We also know she was alive on the 20th at the mall and perhaps she went there to upload her pictures (she seemed to be taking out what looks like an IPAD) because she didn't have wireless, or it didn't work, at her rented room.

So far I believe the videos of a person they believe to be Sarai walking around on the 21st haven't been released. Anyone can don a coat and a hat- how clear were the images? I'm guessing the police must have a good reason not to release them.

In the landlord's Jan 28th TV interview (which is in Turkish) a translation states that he claims he knows nothing about her, yet the press states that he offers this comment “She said she liked taking walks around Sultanahmet.” Perhaps Lavy or Tashim can interpret if that is what he actually said. Also, did he say what time he saw her?
http://gundem.milliyet.com.tr/cekti...em/gundemdetay/28.01.2013/1661571/default.htm

Doesn't an unnamed tipster's call come a day or two later suggesting the same area?
I believe Landlord also says in the interview that she paid 'online for 13 days in advance', but I'm pretty sure her family says she changed her plans after she arrived.

More confusing is that in a written statement which was shown on Channel 7 the day before, 'the landlord' states she was his tenant from the 7th to the 27th. ABD İstanbul'da kaybolan Sarai Sierra'yı arıyor. - YouTube
(seen at 1:31)
He also states that he couldn't contact her because “her devices were off” and "I don't know any person who might know where she is and I don't know know any friends." Perhaps he just didn’t want to get involved in a missing person search or was being cautious, or advised not to talk to the press. Because clearly she was an attractive woman all by herself, new to the country and he was a host, close to her age and living in the same house. From all I've read and heard, Turkish people are usually friendly and helpful to foreigners on vacation, especially as Airbnb hosts. So I doubt he was totally clueless to her comings and goings and associations, especially as it was his apartment and he would have had rules.

This doesn't mean I think he was involved or had anything to do with the case, because maybe the guy is just a nervous young man, having been thrust into the spotlight, and maybe Sarai did tell him that. Sarai, Taylan and Ammer have been slandered in the press and I would hate to see yet another person, if totally innocent, go through the wringer but I hope the police are investigating everyone's actions not only on the 21st but on the 20th.

But I have to say the renter's Sultanhamet comment bothers me -as afterward seems a flurry of activity centers on that area of Istanbul and then her body is found in the area. But hey, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. It just seems too convenient. Maybe she made a comment to him about going to someone's place near there and he didn't want to be specific? I read somewhere he has a lawyer, so we may never know. He may a nice person who just answered a question, so I hope one of the Turkish speakers can please translate.

Did any average person talk to her on the 21st? Americans tend to find a local cafe and have coffee, stop in stores to buy souvenirs before coming home. Did any regular person, bus driver, airline operator, waitress, storekeeper ever come forward saying she asked for directions or the price of any item on the 21st? What about the 20th? Did any Turkish papers cover that?

About the extra pair shoes. If they were heels, I agree with others that she intended to go out later, somewhere too far from her rented room to return. The last night before leaving it's normal to want to party. Again, who did she meet on the 19th and 20th who might have invited her? I imagine the police are checking all that out or already have. The Turkish police seem to have been excellent so far in this case. Just MOO.

And lastly, I find the tipster comment kind of ridiculous. Sarai was a born New Yorker and a grown woman. She strikes me as savvy. She might trust an IG guy she’d corresponded with for 4 or 6 months or a host, but I doubt she’d go blindly walking off with 5 male strangers near a mosque who handed her a card. New Yorkers (especially females) don’t tend to get hustled that easily by mobs. Any NY'ers on this board, love your opinion on the suggestion that a 5'2" girl gullibly wanders off with 5 strange men because they hand her a card.

That's another guy is name is Tarkan so it was mixed up with Tarkan. Tarkan guy only wrote have fun in istanbul when SS wrote on Instagram that she is going to istanbul. He didn't had any other connections but still questioned for two hours.
