I don't know. My gut tells me this killer likely isn't Turkish.
Rape, robbery, I'd have no problem thinking some bad Istanbul guy did that, but there's too much involved here. And I think they would have zeroed in on him by now.
Could be American, or any other English speaking nationality, maybe someone who made her feel comfortable and that she believed was a safe guy.
It's just my opinion but he seems so devious and twisted and sick. Such over the top brutality and risk, and the missing Ipad and phone and coat... I didn't jump to robbery first, (went there 2nd), but first I went to 'something incriminating is on those devices"
If DNA proves it's not the garbage collectors, etc. I do think he either would have known the area and had access to a car, or was simply smooth talkin'- lots-in-common sort of guy who walked along, enticed her on a ruse until he found crime of opportunity location- right time/right place.
From day 1, I've come up with a range of scenarios in my head of possible crime scenarios. And most of them come from true crime situations reported right here in the US press and having been committed here. I know, I know, anyone can have a dark side, but it seems so, I don't know, alien, to the Turkish people. The regular citizens seemed so shocked. They carried pictures of her in the streets. They have their share of domestic and political violence, I get that, but this was a 5'2" female tourist.
If a young female's body was found in an isolated area, off a highway near caves where garbage men/homeless people are known to hang out, in NY or any major city, the garbage men/ homeless people might not head the top of the suspect list.
NewYork625, what do you think?
Like Cmac and others said, it's hard for some of us to wrap our heads around the homeless guy theories.
And to all you tourists, I'm not saying we have a lot of murders in USA cities, not at all, but just that it isn't so shocking to us.
Anyone agree or disagree?
