Yes, you'll endure a 1000 year slueth! :floorlaugh:

Then I best make sure we never meet in real life, or at the very least, that you won't be able to obtain my DNA. :great:

Some of the upper class establishments offer unisex arrangements.

OH!
I thought someone meant there were just men's rooms. Sure, I've been places that offer unisex.

If wore gloves, that makes it less likely it was spontaneous, heat of passion murder like has been suspected. Unless he already have gloves on..

not sure what temp was in Istanbul that day? but if warm if he had gloves on, it would seem murder had to be somewhat premeditated (if just for a minute) bc who goes to kill someone w rock and says, oh wait let me put gloves on. Of course, he could have done that, but that would mean there was at least a half minute of premeditation where he thought he would hit her w rock

What circumstances would lead one to get DNA under fingernails? Who else would she have scratched? I guess maybe if she had sex w someone else, it could be there DNA

When you scratch and get DNA under fingers, how long does that DNA stay? Suppose she had sex 3 days ago with Mystery Man number 2. She washes hands or baths in meantime. Would both types of washing get rid of foreign DNA? They would I think. So it would seem unlikely that the DNA would come from sex bc she would have washed hands...unless she just had sex...I am not completely sure though of the forensics...

What else besides sex could she have gotten fingernail DNA? Seems unlikely you get scratches from random people on street..what is innocent explanation for DNA under fingernails?

I seem to recall mention of fingernail clippings at the scene, indicating a struggle..but press has not always been accurate especially in early days.. If so, if true, and those clippings are not her, it lends credence they are killers..

LE seems to indicate they have killer DNA, we do not know if they mean fingernails or something else. Maybe it is blood...or semen other than Taylan.. Or saliva....

I believe I read somewhere it was relatively warm that day, like in the 60's. but that seems a little high to me
for comparison this tomorrow in Istanbul it should be high of 53, and on Thursday 51.

Temps in Istanbul were around 0-10 celsius around that time period if I'm not mistaken.

No worries. :)

As a matter of fact, I have never been to an establishment which only offered man's restrooms. Even Pavyon type places which exclusively cater to men have ladies restrooms. :)

I should have been more precise. I had posted this a while ago. If the weather was cold, and it looked like it was during the time Sarai was in Istanbul because she looked to be all bundled up with hat, scarf, etc. I think it is likely she wore gloves that day she was killed.

Perhaps the perp about wore gloves. I just wish LE would give us more details or at least some surveillance camera pics of Sarai and Taylan so we can get a sense of who was wearing what on the day she went missing.

So I don't think her murder was premeditated. They might have just happened to be wearing gloves that day due to weather.

Agree, not sure where LE found the DNA -- fingernails, inside her cheeks, ankles, etc. I hope they kept good details about where on her body they extracted the DNA they tested.

I think it's likely that she even climbed up/down some of those rocks in order to take good pics of the ruins. She might have broken some fingernails just from climbing, and if other peeps had also climbed the same rocks, well then, she could have gotten accidental DNA from perfect strangers due to the transfer effect.

I remember looking at my phone when she was missing and it was a little higher like in the mid 40s at least. I don't know about when she disappeared though. (I of course mean degrees F

Actually I'm just bad at converting between C and F we are actually saying about the same thing, temp wise.

I had read in an article though, where they said the day she went missing was particularly warm.

If those depicted are Taylan and Tarkan, they are one and the same.

I tried to focus on eyes, nose, ears, receeding hair seperately as the distinguishing features rather than taking the whole face in account, as the angle, lighting etc. effects the perception if you look at the whole face.

I thought the same thing. Even the lines in the forehead look the same to me.

Does Taylan own a white car? Did he drive to the site where he was supposed to meet Sarai?

Okay, as far as I remember the white car reported by the eye witness was a White Şahin. It was written so in the article I came across right after the body was found and eyewitness came forward.

This is a White Şahin:

Şahin is the license built local production of the old Fiat 131, with make over to appear similar to Fiat Regata.

They aren't produced anymore. As old el cheapo cars and currently cater to low income buyers.

If Taylan and Tarkan are one and the same, with the background, I can assure you all he wouldn't have a white Şahin as his ride.

Hmm I'm not sure i see it. Can we grab the @taylloo photo and a Tarkan photo and put them both up on this board side by side ?

I'll check with the weather forecast archieves about the time between SS disappeared and her body was found.

I don't think they look alike at all, except for the brown hair.

I agree this is the same guy. The "handsome" smiling photo is probably from a few years ago. The rougher, older ones maybe what he looks like now.

Who among you has not used a younger photo of yourself to impress others online may cast the first stone! Oh wait - poor choice of words there.

Haha so true....Anne and Baba sent me to private college, Anne and baba sent me to get my masters abroad....Anne and baba bought me a ****** Şahin

Doesn't really fit.

Thanks for all the posts - I am trying to keep up with all your posts which is a challenge when one has to go to work.
After reading most of your posts - I will share my opinion.

I am a female American living/working in the Middle East for the last 33 years. I have visited Istanbul a couple times and traveled throughout various countries in this area.

Considering my personal experiences while traveling and the places I have visited I do not think Sarai's death was drug related. In my opinion - here is what happened - IMO:

There are several points combined that resulted in her tragedy.
Sarai married very young (age 19), she appeared to have lived a sheltered life, she was on the outs with her husband, and then started meeting guys through the photo online site. Plus she had never traveled - her trip to Istanbul was the spreading of her wings.

Without any travel experience, she was entirely too trusting which resulted in carelessness which resulted in her vulnerability: she was an easy target walking around Istanbul alone. Plus staying in that apartment alone for 17 $ per nite in not the best part of town - another bad idea.

Meeting and talking with men on the streets of Istanbul - meeting and staying with guys she met online - not a good idea.

One of these points may not have resulted in the tragedy, but when these behaviors and facts are combined they can easily result in a tragedy.

Sarai was a target the minute she arrived in Istanbul, and it is heartbreaking that she lost her life.

Drugs ? No. Naivety and carelessness, yes.
But why was she beaten and not raped?
That is the mystery for me.

I am quite sure they do not have women's rest rooms in Turkish bars (unless a touristy one)...my point was were they supposedly doing it in the men's room?....no.
IMO Taylan might well be gay, so...no tryst in bar with SS.
Good Samaritan ...too much of a stretch, but why?

Just to make a comment: women would scream or say something or report a couple having sex in the women's room; men would apologize for interrupting. Okay, I had to say it... :D
