Far reaching trauma.

“A father whose son died while attending Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas over the weekend is now questioning LinkedIn and its practices.

Julio Patino told Fox Business that he grew concerned on Wednesday upon the realization that the former LinkedIn profile for his son Franco Patino, 21, has been deleted. Franco was one of eight who died at the rapper's festival on Friday. Many others were injured and some still remain hospitalized.

Franco, originally from Naperville, Illinois, was majoring in mechanical engineering technology with a minor in human movement biomechanics at the University of Dayton. His father Julio told us he's reached out to the social networking giant for an explanation on what happened to his son's profile but has not yet received a response”

That's what LE said the other day, but IMO, that's BS. We've had numerous clips posted in this thread where artists of all genres stopped concerts in order to help people and the audience was always very gracious, concerned and willing to help.

Yes they could have turned the lights up, and TS could have stood there while he told his audience to make way for the medical teams and back up etc. It also sounds like security was subcontracted out since there are 4 companies involved, and how on earth could they have maintained control with that many involved, seems to me it would be easier if it was just one company and they were all connected to a single co-ordinator. Easy to play monday morning quarterback I guess ..

One hand from TS to stop the music immediately changes the atmosphere. He holds the key to what activity happens in the audience.

No other security group has that literal physical leverage. Even it were 500 or more people. They don’t have mics that would drown out TS. The “crushing” by sheer gravity doesn’t allow guards to make their way through it.

Here's another video of the HPD presser from today:

I wasn't impressed with the chief's response TBH. I think that an outside agency should take charge of the investigation. All JMO.

Same, it lacked substance. He came across as defensive to me.

“Just interviewed the Houston Firefighters Union.
They say all the medics/ambulances at Astroworld were private.
When firefighters heard chaos - they rushed over.
Union says event organizers would not give the firefighters a radio - instead only a list of cell phone numbers”

“Union President says he has never heard of anything like this in his entire career. Never is this the way for emergency personnel to communicate, he says.
Cell phone service was almost non existent at that time, festival attendees say.
More on this on NewsNation at 9pmET”

“The family of Madison Dubiski has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Travis Scott and firms involved in the Astroworld Festival, where the 23-year-old woman died.

The lawsuit, obtained by Fox News, names Live Nation, Scoremore, ASM Global, Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation, Valle Services and Scott's company, Cactus Jack, as defendants.

The lawsuit accuses Scott and the companies of negligence that resulted in Madison's death”

I live in a college town, and on football (home) game days, I frequently experience connectivity problems with my cell phone. Currently, I mainly have problems with mobile data, but in years past, I have had no text or voice service at all.

I can believe that cell service at Astroworld could have been negatively affected by the sheer number of people trying to connect to cell towers in the area. All JMO. I am no expert on mobile networks, but perhaps we have someone here who can expand on this problem.

I am sure that I have read witness accounts that referenced an inability to contact others via mobile during the event. I seem to remember that the ICU nurse, who assisted several people after she herself had passed out in the crowd, mentioned similar communication problems. JMO

I think that problems with communication in mass casualty incidents have been known about (and was mentioned in the 9/11 Commission report IIRC) for a long time. Relying solely on regular, public, mobile networks seems to be a problem. JMO.

There are companies who are working to provide special mobile communications for first responders. For example, AT&T First Net
Nationwide Broadband For First Responders & Public Safety at FirstNet

Drake breaks silence on ‘devastating tragedy’ at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival

“I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief, but this is where I find myself,” he wrote in a social media statement Monday night.

“My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in anyway I can. May God be with you and bless you all.”

The Grammy-winning rapper took to the stage alongside 30-year-old Scott at NRG park in Houston on Friday as a surprise guest for the multi-day music festival. Authorities said fans started to surge toward the stage a short time later around 9:15 p.m., causing widespread panic among the crowd of 50,000 people.
More Blah Blah Blah....SMH
Says he hates to have to resort to posting on social media...did he or his management not consider a press conference where he could express his real "heartbreak" and not read his sanitized statement? Of course not.

I'm so disgusted by this tragedy, it didn't have to happen. Not enough security, lack of coordination with local LE and ambulance services, at least one performer encouraging people to ignore any common sense safety, not stopping the show, I could go on and on.

I've been going to live music events for 50+ years. Passed out in the crowd at a Rod Stewart show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. No seats on the main floor, people packed too close together, which is what saved me from going down and possibly being trampled. Security saw me and pulled me out.

Been to 20+ radiohead shows in the last 25 years, usually with a mosh pit, and every time the pit got too rowdy, lead singer Thom Yorke stopped playing and walked offstage, telling the crowd he wasn't coming back until they stopped. He's also pointed out individual troublemakers to security and had them booted from the venue.

I've witnessed Bono of U2 do the same thing, though usually their crowds are less aggressive.

IME it's usually lack of security that's the linchpin in these situations.

My point is, TS could have prevented/stopped all this if he wanted to, if he valued his fans more than his profits. The fact that he's pled guilty to similar charges in the past says it all to me.

MOO

RIP to all the victims of this needless tragedy.

How would they be able to make it through the crush without also getting crushed though? People were jumping on top of the ambulance.

They couldn't that's why this fest was poorly planned, and managed from the beginning.
It's not the medics' fault they couldn't reach the injured.

What really happened at Astroworld? Everything we know about the festival and aftermath
''The medical staff in place was overwhelmed by the number of injuries as concertgoers passed out and many were trampled. ParaDocs Worldwide released a statement disputing allegations it lacked medical staff and equipment, while ScoreMore and concert organizer Live Nation released a statement saying they had provided video footage to investigators and were co-operating, “to get everyone the answers they are looking for.”

There are now calls for an independent review. Officials with the Houston police and fire departments will investigate whether the promoter and others behind the festival followed the plans and whether they were sufficient.''

Travis Scott Astroworld festival: Everything you need to know | khou.com

“Is there a COVID policy?
Attendees must have a printed negative COVID-19 test or proof of full vaccination along with a valid state-issued ID.”

Did they just give up after the gate was stampeded and let whoever in without checking tickets, vaccination, weapons, drugs, etc?

Yes...anything you could think of probably made it through that gate and nobody thought there was a big problem with that?

Bombs, weapons, guns...and yet the security staff had no plans and weren't trained on how to deal with it properly.
