What really happened at Astroworld? Everything we know about the festival and aftermath
''The medical staff in place was overwhelmed by the number of injuries as concertgoers passed out and many were trampled. ParaDocs Worldwide released a statement disputing allegations it lacked medical staff and equipment, while ScoreMore and concert organizer Live Nation released a statement saying they had provided video footage to investigators and were co-operating, “to get everyone the answers they are looking for.”

There are now calls for an independent review. Officials with the Houston police and fire departments will investigate whether the promoter and others behind the festival followed the plans and whether they were sufficient.''
And the finger-pointing begins......

“A 23-second clip posted on Twitter on Saturday shows the rambunctious crowd members dancing and gesturing above the emergency vehicle as it tries to penetrate the dense crowd.

'Get off!' screams a female inside the vehicle as another person tries to climb up.

Another nine-second video shows a lone person dancing on top of a different emergency vehicle trying to make its way through the audience”

Replying to my own to add this, the Instagramer referenced has since turned the comments off on his/her post.

“A person by the Instagram handle @itzlune_, who social media users have identified as one of the people on top of the emergency golf cart, appeared defiant in an Instagram Stories post after the deadly show.

'Uh oh guys. Cancel culture is at it again,' he wrote, adding a laughing emoji.

'This is how i know the crowd was full of baby butt soft a** people,' he said. 'We rage forreal, im sorry you guys wanna have a sad day about it”

Travis Scott is seen pacing outside his $14million Houston mansion | Daily Mail Online

On Wednesday afternoon, his legal team led by high-powered attorney Neal Manne arrived at the gated mansion as at least 68 lawsuits have come flooding in against the rapper and Live Nation Entertainment.

Travis has been holed up with girlfriend Kylie Jenner at the home with 24-hour security and at least five security guards since last Friday's tragedy.

He bought the 12,042 sq ft home in 2019 under the name Trapp Trust, it is located less than four miles from where the deadly Astroworld festival was held.

I have no words sufficient to describe my disgust at this. But two points to make IMO:

1) as this person’s identity is apparently known, I hope he is arrested. It must be some kind of crime to impede the progress of an ambulance responding to an emergency. Reckless endangerment?

2) I sincerely hope that the loss of these “baby butt soft a** people” results in TS losing every penny he has and that his career is over. And that Live Nation goes bankrupt.

ETA: @sds71 just saw your post about the girl who has since died. I hit “like” of course, but “like” just seems like the wrong thing to say. Maybe the mods, whom I know are very busy and are volunteers, can give us an option like “heartbroken” at some time in the future. JMO

BBM such a shame that he wouldn't provide that level of security for his paying fans who made him successful.

It's Texas, don't hold your breath, but he should be arrested, I agree.

Travis Scott asks victims of Astroworld stampede to contact him for help

Travis Scott Wants Fans Affected by Astroworld to Email Him Directly

“Over the last week, Travis Scott and his team have been actively exploring routes of connection with each and every family affected by the tragedy through the appropriate liaisons,” the statement begins. “He is distraught by the situation and desperately wishes to share his condolences and provide aid to them as soon as possible, but wants to remain respectful of each family’s wishes on how they’d best like to be connected.”

The statement requests that those who wish to reach Scott and his team for either condolences or aid should contact them at [email protected]. Scott and his team go on to state that there will be individuals ready to assist.

YOU are part of the problem, @itzlune. I am so repulsed I can barely visit this thread, so excuse me for even replying.

I am watching the latest presser, in tears, knowing it could have been my son, who loves Travis Scott. He is now scared to go to a concert. And that is so freaking sad, because concerts were the life blood of my college years. I am so angry that he (and I) has to worry about going to an event that is supposed to be so much fun and enlightening! He was invited (today) to fly to Colorado to go to a Playboi Cardi concert this upcoming weekend, and he's having doubts, and that makes me so FURIOUS. What an experience he should be allowed and excited to join!

I don't feel a lot of confidence that we will see much justice for this travesty, but I have a sliver of hope that things will change in the future.

Texas A&M student hurt at Astroworld dies; death total at 9

“Bharti was a shining star in the community,” Lassiter said. “She was a sister, a daughter, a high-achieving college student about to graduate from Texas A&M University with high, high grades.”

:(

The 8 people killed at Astroworld have been identified | Houston Public Media

The victims identified were Mirza Baig, 27, of Houston; Rodolfo Peña, 23, from Laredo; Madison Dubiski, 23, from Cypress; Franco Patiño, 21, from Illinois; Jacob Jurinke, 20, from Illinois; John Hilgert, 14, from Houston; Axel Acosta, 21, from Washington; and Brianna Rodriguez, 16, from Houston.

Police said they started seeing festival attendees collapse around 9:30 that night, and contacted the festival's organizers. But Scott's performance went on uninterrupted and didn’t stop for about another 40 minutes.

Rest in gentle peace to those who lost their lives.
:(

This was completely preventable.

I'm curious about what the security for TS have to say about their interactions with him ?
Has TS ever told them to allow crowd surges ?
Has he instructed his security to control and manage the fans or had he told them to let them alone and give them free reign to rush the stage ?
Astroworld has had complaints in the past, but what specifically have those working security for the crowds when TS was performing; said about his conduct ?

Imo..

I wonder how they will be able to certify that it is in fact the attendees that are emailing him? That’s his problem but I’m just curious.

Rockets Postpone Travis Scott Night, Will Honor Astroworld Victims Instead

The Houston Rockets have temporarily axed its "Travis Scott Night" promotion slated for Wednesday night ... with the team planning to honor the victims of the Astroworld tragedy in its place.

The Rockets were set to hand out 3,000 limited edition Scott-themed shirts prior to their matchup against the Detroit Pistons ... but will instead have a moment of silence for the 8 people who died and the others affected at the music festival in Houston.

Yes, I imagine there will be a lot of emails coming in and we know how people can be…

I had never heard of this awful concert crush as well, :(
Nine Dead At Pearl Jam Concert
And WOW… the differences in response to these two tragedies was vastly different!

Eventually, the message went up the security team’s chain of command to the Orange Stage production office and finally to Dick Adams, Pearl Jam’s tour manager, who was standing at the side of the stage. Pearl Jam were coming to the end of “Daughter” when Adams rushed onstage and talked to singer Eddie Vedder. Vedder stopped the music and addressed the audience:

“What will happen in the next five minutes has nothing to do with music. But it is important. Imagine that I am your friend and that you must step back so as not to hurt me. You all have friends up front. I will now count to three, and you will all take three steps back. All who agree say ‘Yes’ now.” After a big cheer and a few seconds of movement by the crowd, Vedder asked everyone to step back again.

“You could really see when the crowd moved back,” says Manfred Tari, a German correspondent for the U.S. concert-industry magazine Pollstar, who was in the audience. “It looked like they really moved a couple of [feet] back.”

Johansen and other security personnel leaped into the crowd and started passing victims over the barrier and into the pit, where they were carried backstage for emergency treatment.

Shortly thereafter, Pearl Jam issued a statement:

“This is so painful . . . . I think we are waiting for someone to wake us and say it was just a horrible nightmare . . . . And there are absolutely no words to express our anguish in regard to the parents and loved ones of these precious lives that were lost. We have not yet been told what actually occurred, but it seemed random and sickeningly quick . . . it doesn’t make sense. When you agree to play a festival of this size and reputation, it is impossible to imagine such a heart-wrenching scenario. Our lives will never be the same, but we know that is nothing compared to the grief of the families and friends of those involved. It is so tragic . . . there are no words.

“Devastated, Pearl Jam.”

Not allowed to post the link here, but if you go to YouTube and search: Pearl Jam - Roskilde Festival 2000 and select the video from a channel with the initials JN, you can hear this. Go to about the 49 minute mark in the video.
