3/12/24 Update: Additional info: Sheriff Ed Gonzales posted on X that Rivera was arrested as he attempted to cross back from Mexico into the U.S. Rivera was on the run, a fugitive accused of killing Carlos Fernandez, his ex-girlfriend’s 12-year-old son. As he was walking across the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville, Rivera was flagged for his Capital Murder warrant when he showed his entry documents to U.S. border agents. They matched his picture & fingerprints with the National Crime Information Systems, a database used by law enforcement across the country.
3/12/24 Update: Rivera: Probable cause hearing. Order: Case added per H/O. Order: Financial affidavit filed. Order: Grid set bail-no bond. Order: Defendant not present at docket. Judge Brian E. Warren presiding. Attorney William Thomas Exley. Next arraignment hearing on 3/13/24 @ 9am.
