TX- 13 year old boy abducted while coming home from school, Houston

  • #41
Surely, since the text messages sent from Zavion's phone to his mother were supposedly sent from the shack, LE could find this location as well as the "reported" three bodies of the little black boys.

Before people take up pitchforks and torches to kill these kidnappers, I think that a press conference should be held and something done.

I agree with a press conference!
Although I think Zavions community has their own beliefs and disregard for the Houston Police Department.
All the info Zavion has given, including identifying the truck, would make an investigation possible.

Sad for all.

I agree.

I'm going to be really honest here, folks.

When I was 7 years old, I did something similar. As I was walking home, I ran into a house and told them a man tried to abduct me. My story was more believable. (And there was no internet!!) I told the police a man in a truck drove up next to me and propositioned me into the truck. I said I ran and he sped away. I was a really good kid. Good student, friend, daughter. It was a split second type of decision. I can look back now and know why I did it. I remember my mom crying and hugging me, she was so despondent. That felt so good. It was acceptance, love, concern, attentions I had never experience before. (And never since.) If his story isn't true (I think we all suspect it's not) it could be for any number of reasons. He could have found himself in other trouble he was too scared or embarrassed to admit to. He could have made a poor choice that he didn't know how to come back from, and in a young mind this alternative seemed better. He could be missing something fundamental that is not being provided by his family and made up a story to fill the hole. I don't think he's a trouble maker or bad kid. They need to figure out why and address the reasons.

I turned out to be fine. I never did anything like that again and I carried a lot of shame over it for many years. I am successful and happy. I learned to abandon the hope that my emotional needs would be met in my home a few days after my incident. I met my needs through writing, being ambitious, and finding a few good friends. I think it was the only way for me to cope and be healthy. I hope he can do the same.

Thanks for sharing that Blue22
It breaks my heart that you felt the need to do that to just get some love and attention- it’s beyond tragic that not all kids are loved as much as they should be. I’m glad to hear you got through this with other interests and friends but it’s still sad that you went through it. God bless u! Hugs [emoji8]

The vigilante stuff on twitter is incredible. I really fear that someone is going to get hurt.

The plot thickens. From Saturday:

Zavion's mother, Michelle Lee, told ABC13's Erica Simon that someone spotted the truck in Brazoria County.

When asked if the truck was the same during the alleged kidnapping, Zavion said "yes."

Someone spotted a red truck with flames in Brazoria County, Texas today; sent the photo to #ZavionParker’s mom. She asked her son if this was the truck he was talking about. He said yes.
...
A woman in northeast Houston told Eyewitness News that officers investigated the abandoned property on Tuesday.

UPDATE: #ZavionParker’s mom says this is the shack/cabin Zavion was taken to. They drove by there to get a picture and see if there was any activity. Neighbors told her the men who use it don’t actually live there, but DO reside nearby.

And a local radio station reported this:

Doubts have been raised about his story, but police also found the abandoned shack the teen described. Investigators discovered shell casings, a wooden chair and other weapons. Zavion has spoken to detectives several times this week with the help of a child counselor. Extra patrol has also been implemented around Zavion’s school, Forest Brook Middle School.

I'm close to buying the story... BUT, the description of the tattoo "I hate black people" throws me. I mean, what racist would choose that wording? :dunno:

IMO it's not unreasonable to think kids have seen that flame-painted truck around and it's also reasonable to think that they are aware of the "abandoned shack" so I could see an imaginative tale being spun. I hate that doubting a child's story if it's true but that tattoo...

Zavion's story has understandably been overshadowed by the school shooting but hopefully we'll hear more soon. LE must know who owns the truck and shack by now so the investigation should move along rapidly.

P.S. I guess I'm a "dark" Ginger as my hair is medium coppery brown so not only do I not have a soul, if I did it would be a dark soul, lol! These days I have an ongoing relationship with Miss Clairol as my beautiful hair is turning an awful pinky-yellow white. Sigh.

[emoji15] while I have no doubt that racism is still very much a problem, I just don’t buy this story. Seems more likely something less nefarious happened and he was too embarrassed to tell the truth. Seeing how this story seems unsubstantiated, I shudder to think what else these news organizations run without fact checking.

I agree with all of this. What bothers me is that racism IS still an issue in our country, and if this story is untrue, it can do a lot of harm and worsen tensions. For instance, even after kenneka Jenkins autopsy report was made public, people still refuse to believe that her death was an accident, and instead think that she was blown off as a victim of foul play because of her race. The little bit of poking around I’ve done on SM about this case seems like it could go in the same direction. If it’s proven to be untrue, some people will refuse to accept that as a reality.

The gun casings, chair and such have NOT been confirmed by anyone who is involved in the investigated. Zavion's mom spoke on the phone with a news reporter and she claims that's what LE found.

JMO, but I think a mom is covering for her son.

I mean wouldn’t LE have found evidence of the dead bodies? If murderers are sloppy enough to leave gun casings, I can’t imagine they’d be able to completely clean the crime scene of any and all evidence of multiple dead people.

Exactly! As far as I can tell from reporting...the "shack" has never been treated as a crime scene, roped off, etc. If these things were found after a boy was abducted and taken there, that's evidence that has to be collected.

Oof. If this turns out to be untrue, I feel terrible for the people who live at that house and have strangers standing outside of their house videotaping and accusing them of being murderers.

I'm growing really concerned about the anger and vigilantism surrounded this situation. I wish the cops would say something, but people probably wouldn't believe them, or they can't due to his age. I don't know how much they can talk about a minor.
