Like Mr. Rogers always said when bad things happen, "look for the helpers". There are always people who are willing to help and this young military man sure stepped up to help as many scared children as he could! He could have easily just taken cover in the mall, but he went out to help. I'm so thankful for all the helpers/heroes in this tragedy today as I know there are many good acts by people today!

They will, and they have the benefit of a living person to interview.

That doesn’t happen in many mass shootings.

It looks like this guy has already made his motive clear with his manifesto, his choice of location, and his choice of victims.
Yes, Gilroy killer for example. He left only two public comments about mixed-race and educated white females.

But El Paso killer's manifesto is very clear about his motives and targets. However, no political discussions here, so I will reference only LA Times summary.

It's annoying that the types of monsters who commit these crimes get 3 hots and a cot.
Pamela Smart (murdered her husband with the help of her teen lovers) even completed college courses in prison.

The Walmart killer deserves to be thrown into a cell and throw away the key.
What a pity he didn't go out in his 'blaze of glory'.

Now there'll most likely be an expensive trial at the taxpayer's expense.

This creep will get protective custody and a high profile lawyer funded by the very citizens who live there. And some who died there, as well.

Citizens fund public defenders. Any high-profile lawyer will have to be funded by other sources.

They could do it for free or for the publicity. If this is the kind of publicity someone wants, right?

The MSM choice to not name the killer has nothing to do with freedom of speech.

If his name is mentioned, some people may use Google to read his manifesto and understand why these type of mass murders keep occuring.

In a word, “racist.”

This is clear, and it’s apparently something that has been his focus for a long time.

In many cases, we are left to speculate as to the “why.”

Not here.

A sponge or cloth soaked with a strong coagulant.
I live in earthquake country. I have several in my emergency stash. You can can buy on amazon and elsewhere.
hope I never need them, but, they don't cost much and can save lives.
Stop the Bleed packets only have a tourniquet, untreated gauze, and a bandage in them. They are not QuikClot clotting gauze pads and strips.

If you see your kid or friend or coworker suddenly spouting ideas or talking about violence or doing what these mass shooters do maybe they can be stopped. If they aren't living with racists or lunatics that share their ideas their behavior might freak out the people closest to them. Knowing what to look for could potentially prevent this from happening again.

That's good to know... thanks !
We carry basic first aid in our car. We don't have any QuikClot.

It is going to be very distressing when we learn more about and see the faces of the victims of this horrific tragedy in the coming days. This is when you fully appreciate the extent of the devastation caused to so many families. Thank you to all of you for your news updates and posts they are all much appreciated. Websleuths is always the best source of information.

Totally understand your POV - but the thing is, as long as social media exists, you can't keep any cat in the bag. All will be revealed, regardless.

That's true. I still think it would make a difference.

San Bernadino had two, I believe.... A school shooting in Arkansas many years ago, had two very young shooters....moo

Yep! One who recently died in a car crash.

Yeah. No point or value in sweeping it under the rug.

I'm a middle-aged white women living in a city with a huge Hispanic population. I could be collateral damage any time one of these freaks take it upon themselves to do whatever delusional thing they think they're doing.

Agreed.
The more we know about each other.
People's relationships with each other have been breaking down for a long time.
Very few even know the names of their neighbors.

Yes, I'm sure the media will put out their names and photos.
I'm fine with that. It's a way to remember them.

I have no links or evidence to back this up, but I believe many of these people don't spout off to anyone in real life about their ideas. Only online.

Hence the inevitable "we had no idea" responses in the aftermath.

Yes. But citizens wouldn't be funding it.
