One of the videos tonight mentioned he'd been moved to a part of the hospital where prisoners are kept. Perhaps that shows up the same as if he were in jail.

Do we know his condition? Sorry if I missed it.

My son was diagnosed with ADHD at 6 (mild ADD, heavy H!), but not put on medication unless/until he started 'getting in his own way' at school. As in, when it was clear his ADHD symptoms were causing him to distract himself from his own learning, i.e. continually skim/skip over step 2 and 3 in a four step math problem, or rush/skip over entire instructions on a test, etc., causing his As and Bs to drop. So my son was probably 9 or 10 before we started medication. And I wouldn't say it made him all that much less hyper, but it helped him to not be restless/squirmy, and really helped him be more focused in school when he needed to be. He still had to work really hard at the not blurting out answers thing. (You're kind of missing a 'filter' with ADD/ADHD)

I truly don't know what's common, but I think straight to medication at under age six for ADHD isn't common ... unless you're talking about some severe symptoms/issues, or at the very least, symptoms far more severe than I've seen in my own 'hyper' son.

HTH :seeya:

ETA: Most kids start kindergarten at 5 or 6. It's not usually obvious a child has ADD/ADHD until they are in school and have to sit still and focus and be quiet for long stretches of time--longer than they're usually expected to at home or at preschool. So for a parent/caregiver to notice super obvious 'hyperactivity' or an attention deficit beyond just being a happy/excitable/distracted kid....well, I just think if you noticed something that you and your doctor though required medication before age 6, it would have to be pretty severe symptoms. MOO!

While it isn't common it does happen. My son and my best friend's son both have severe ADHD.

I had to put my son on medication at age 4. When he started public pre-k he went completely out of control and started physically hurting other kids as well as being rude and disrespectful to his teacher when he didn't want to do something. He was constantly interrupting, could not sit still, could not be quiet, could not keep his hands to himself etc. On meds he is a different child. Once they wear off he is climbing the walls and furniture and starts saying inappropriate things. Trust me I tried everything before medication but having ADHD myself I knew the difference the medication would make. My son is 5 now and you can tell the minute his meds wear off. He starts kindergarten soon and I'm nervous.

I just remembered my 3rd discussion point from earlier (I'm sure you've all been waiting with bated breath):

3. Re: ADHD Rx

http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/07/24/5026216/saginaw-suspects-grandparents.html

".....so she could live there with her son, then around 2,......and was on medicine for hyperactivity."

*please note that my "dots" (.......) designate that I've cut out a lot of text in between; don't think I've destroyed the context, but don't hesitate to consult original article!*

Two also seems awfully young to be on Rx drugs, but I do recall this diagnosis and drugs being all the rage in the 90's. Completely unqualified people from teachers and even daycare teachers were "diagnosing" children, IIRC? Not that these people wrote the scripts, but they gave this feedback to the parent, who talked to the pedi/Dr., and the Rx was written and filled..... There are a number of documentaries out about this now and the side-effects that just now seem to be just now rearing its head including Generation Rx, Medicating Kids, and The Drugging of Our Children. I'm not saying documentaries don't have an agenda they are biased to support, but there's some pretty compelling stuff in these I've seen.

(Particularly as we seem to be sitting here trying to figure out WTF is wrong w/ these teens, esp the boys?).....

That said, "if" this (he was on Rx @ 2, these Rx do have severe long term implications) is true, by no means am I at all exonerating or even slightly defending what TH has done here. There are lots of kids/young adults who took/take these and never did anything like this.

There are lots of neglected and/or abused children who never do this.

There are lots of children of single mothers who never do this.

I don't know. Something to think about, I guess. It just really struck me that he was allegedly somehow "diagnosed" and put on Rx drugs for this at age two.

Not that I recall, but from my experience where the hospital has had a holding cell, no life support or other critical/intensive care measures are required to sustain his life......so he's doing "okay".

Not that I'm glad to say that, except that maybe now the caged bird will sing?

He stopped me once because I didn't know traffic was also 20 mph on school mornings on Bailey Boswell. Not that I should not have known but I turned onto it off of Old Decatur and started going 30. Ooops. I told him how I was rushing to Walmart because I had no hats for my kids for Crazy Hat Day at school. He did not give me a ticket.

Dora, was it you that stated yesterday that your hubby was LE down in Texas? Please tell him how much we all appreciate him and all his fellow officers for the work they do keeping us safe. Thank you

Know what: I'll bet the holding cell(s) @ JPS are considered Tarrant County jurisdiction.

If someone thinks/knows otherwise please don't hesitate to correct me!

The hospital I was in w/ holding cells served the entire state prison system (good times, I could tell some stories).....but I was young and didn't really pay much attention to details such as whose jurisdiction they were under while there.

In that same foxdfw video, the reporter says her sources tell her that the move from intensive care to the prisoner section of the hospital would indicate his condition is no longer critical. That's not an official statement of his condition, though, and she did not name her source either. But that is the latest information I've heard or read.

WOW. So is this a clear as it reads? Is his location really in the jail? Or just listed that way because he's technically still in the hospital but in custody?

"The mother of Holder's ex-girlfriend agrees. She did not want to be identified in a TV interview, but she sobbed as she spoke with News 8 off-camera.
The woman said she was in disbelief that someone who had been in her home and had played with her five-year-old granddaughter could be accused of such a crime.
She said the last time she saw Holder was in late June, when he asked her to sell some DVDs at a local pawn shop for him."

Oh please don't tell me he was ever alone with this 5 yr old?!:banghead:

Does anyone still think there's a possibility he targeted Alanna because of her parents' lifestyle? Especially after hearing he slashed their tires before the murder and possibly set their car on fire? It seems like Holder had a vendetta against Alanna's family. Or was it just opportunity? If he saw another little girl playing outside by herself, would he have targeted her instead?

RBBM

This part makes me so upset. This means that some 'reporter' has actually asked this grief stricken mother if she's read the warrant.

Really? They need news that badly? They need money for their lives so badly that they are willing to use their jobs as reporters to just ask whatever stupid and rude questions they want?

News reporting has really hit an all time low in my opinion.

I agree, why ask her such a question?! Her pain is so deep why make it even worse. I hope she never finds out what was done to her sweet baby. Isn't it enough that she has to live the rest of her life without Alanna?

Yes. We really need him to talk. I wonder with his injury, no access to pot or whatever else he was chronically abusing, if he'll be easy to crack. LE will let him know what they have on him. There are no outs. I think he'll cave pretty quickly. Hope so!

Unfortunately, Alanna's parents will find out all the details at the trial. :(

I'm surprised his car is still in the driveway. I would have thought they would have taken it.

I'm sure the car was part of the search warrant on Tuesday and today. Since his car was not driven the day he murdered Alanna, it probably didn't have any evidence of Alanna.

I copy and pasted from the site... I remember in other cases in fl that if offender was off property of jail or moved to different jail wording would be different. Am referring to r Cummings case. Not positive how this works. I was surprised to see tarrant county jail. They could have said in custody and not listed jail

They might choose to leave the courtroom when those portions of the trial come up, though. At this point, it's probably better for them to remember her as she was and not let her death define her sweet, adventurous spirit.

Investigators should maybe talk to the driver of the car on TH's driveway on Google's street view.

IMO yes. He wanted to hurt a child. If not her, another. IMO no vendetta.
