About the underwear: I saw some photos of kids swimming in a small above ground pool and most of the kids are just wearing their underwear. Could she have drowned? Why no COD yet? If she drowned, that would be apparent, IMO. If she was strangled or suffocated, that would be apparent. I don't thing there was blood on the tarp or the kids and parents would have slipped that info out. No blood, IMO. So some other method of death.

Why does possibly drowning and duct tape bring back flashbacks? Because exactly 2 years ago in a closing argument by District Attorney Jeff Ashton made a valid point: "You don't make an accident look like a murder."

Of course, it worked in Florida..

She was undressed, what other reason would someone remove her clothes? Why would someone abduct a small child, undress them and then murder them? It screams of sexual motivation. They'll do a full autopsy and find out right away if she was raped.

Unless she was already at home and undressed except for her underwear when her death occurred.

Again, no description of the clothing she was last seen in. One of the men of the house said it was hours before she had been seen by them (sorry, but I find that appalling). And if she was a victim of rape, why would a perp put her underwear back on, but no clothing? Regardless they will know if she was raped.....we just may not know for awhile.

I think she was at home....

I don't think red tape is as unusual as people think. I have red tape at home (and every other color of the rainbow). Use it for color coding things. It seems almost unimaginable somebody would leave that stuff out in the open after committing a crime? But stranger things have happened I guess. Unless it was a kid committing the crime.

Do you know how many stupid criminals there are? Lots. Our prisons are filled with them. Criminals too stooopid to cover their crime or are so narcissistic that they think: nobody would EVER think I did it.

Don't ever overestimate the truly evil and messed up people of this world! Their minds are already damaged, so the chance of them screwing up is rather high....

This is still confusing information as well. We don't know how long the family was looking for her before they flagged down an officer and reported her missing. She was found first, before the officer was flagged down.

That's interesting she had to have been gone for a bit wouldn't u think?

This information is available in the basement.

Just a thought:
I was imagining putting something in the back of a pick up truck. If the tarp did slide out of the truck because the tailgate fell down, maybe it was because the person that closed the tailgate did it quietly, and didn't slam it shut really good, because they didn't want anyone to hear it slam? And then later it fell open by mistake...

Or maybe the truck had nothing to do with this case at all.

lmo
ETA - my point being, this all seems to have taken place in a residential area, not out in the boonies where no one can hear. I know when I slam our truck gate it makes a big noise that I'm sure many neighbors can hear, because I can hear when they slam theirs. Maybe this happened in a house, and the person just wanted to quietly close the gate without any neighbors noticing and quietly drive off to a more secluded location for disposal.....but then they pulled away from the stop sign and "bam" the gate falls down, losing the body and tarp by mistake in the middle of an intersection in broad daylight.

Again, JMO.

It certainly seems that way, but I am trying to be patient before I make assumptions. Some things that have been said are neighbor reports and as noted to what's in the basement, does that mean the last time that person saw her or anyone in the family.

I know how reporting can be sloppy in the beginning and also how stories can be confusing when people are panicking.

SBM: I'm not sure why LE hadn't publicly announced what she was last seen wearing but the information is available here: Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community
Maybe the clothes were also in the tarp/trash bag bundle with her? Just because witnesses haven't said they were in there, it doesn't mean they weren't. That tarp was rather large, IMO and her clothes would be easy to tuck into it somewhere. I'm sure the witnesses didn't open up everything..

Here is an approximate map from her home to the location she was found. Please disregard the route. For some reason this morning I have forgotten how to do a pinpoint map. You should be able to zoom in though and view or walk the area.

https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Babbling+Brook+Drive,+Saginaw,+TX&daddr=Cindy+Lane,+Saginaw,+TX&hl=en&sll=41.082613,-85.1509&sspn=0.230836,0.488892&geocode=FcKF9QEdxAMy-ikJi1Bqe99NhjE8ezk9W4ezsQ%3BFdhV9QEdIgwy-ikRhbisiHVOhjEP5bkOYBa2Gw&oq=cindy+lane&t=h&mra=ls&z=15

So where between or around points A and B would you be able to discreetly take a child to assault them?

I saw that photo too which I thought was inappropriate for Facebook. IMO

I have thought about that too. However I would assume if that were suspected the home would be taped off as a crime scene and the people living there wouldn't be allowed back yet.

I will also assume that cadaver dogs would have been brought in.

All I can say is that I am scratching my head.

This is why I believe the perp is someone who was at a home. It could be a homeowner or someone who was visiting a home to do work of some kind.

Also, she could have been sexually assaulted (my assumption) and murdered in a vehicle. JMO

It's possible the perp could be someone who has done work on the house, as that's what happened in Elizabeth Smart's case. If it wasn't that, I think it's more likely that the perp saw she was in the front yard or walking down the street alone and saw her as an easy target.

I was also thinking about this being close to a holiday and the possibility of someone traveling during that time period. Or, having access to a home where the occupants are gone for the holiday.

If this was a younger person, or someone who lives with someone else, the other occupants could have been gone or at work. It certainly would help to have a better timeline, but maybe it's not necessary if the perp is already known or highly suspected.

I hope this isn't against TOS but were all three parents home at the time? Monday was a holiday in Canada but I don't think it was in the US, therefore was a work day. Were they gaming online while the victim was out? If so, is it possible that a perp knew the parents were busy with other activities and took advantage of that to grab the victim?

  • #217
If Alanna did drown, why did the parents bound her with tape, put a plastic body over her head, and looked to be ready to dump her body outside possibly to never be found? Obviously, it was make it look like a predator killed her...But I feel like there has to be more to it than simply the parents are worried they would go to jail for a few years for neglect.

Actually... I wasn't thinking of the parents as perps...

I was thinking a neighbor... Or someone who knew her that lived in the area... Persuaded her to go swimming... Accident happened... Or maybe not even an accident.. And then perp(s) took off from there...

Just some thoughts running through my brain...

I'd really like to know when was the last time

1) parents saw her
2) anyone besides parents saw her

Has LE put out these questions or answered them yet?

I am so curious about the timeline when parents and family members (brother and sister, too) saw her...

Not pointing fingers at anyone... But a timeline would be so helpful in this case...

Again, JMO.

Great point about trying to close the tailgate quietly.

Since we are on the topic, I just have to say this.

It would really be quite difficult to have a body wrapped up in a tarp such as it was, "roll" or "fall" out of the back of a truck.

She would have had to be in the pick-up in such a way to actually fall out.

Having said that, if SPEED was involved, and the truck was trying to turn the corner QUICKLY, then the FORCE of her body slamming against an improperly closed tailgate would be far more likely to fall out.

This would indicate a panic mode for the perp, IF she was actually in the back of a truck, which does line up with the circumstances, and goes contrary to an EXPERIENCED perp who was taking his/her time, using caution.

From looking at this map, I would guess the perp was heading toward the reservoir or park with her body. They possibly were going to the interstate after disposing of her body (maybe before). I see others here have the same thought. A theory did pop into my head but I can't talk about it-TOS.
