Right, but then they usually resort to male condoms. At least in my circle of friends.

Right.

That is unless it's two females.

I find all the toilet paper and wal-mart bags very curious. I understand the bags, but the toilet paper must be key to something.

I had a thought too horrible to post.............. :(

In my opinion, the canvassing has been timed to channel attention on their search for an unknown perp and away from the search warrant info. Police knew that media had obtained the list of items seized from the home. Police don't want people pointing fingers at the family. If there are choppers in the air, they may be looking for drivers who go out of their way to avoid the checkpoints. Especially vehicles that fit a certain description.

Now that is a brilliant observation! :high5: :thumb:

So someone snatched a child then went back to steal items from her parents car? A little too bold I think.

I agree. How would they {the perp/perps} know what was in the car?

Longtimers--is it typical in a case like this for LE to do such a detailed search of the victim's family home straight away?

Sometimes when children disappear or are found murdered the police aren't forced to get a search warrant to search the home. The parents immediately agree to let the police come and and take what is needed to find their child.

Isn't that like a diaphragm (do they even make those anymore?)? I can't imagine it would fit into a child would it?

Remember this was all taken the night she was found: maybe they were taking anything that may have anyone's DNA on it? The "femdom" may have no direct correlation here.....

LOL! It is like a male condom, but bigger and looser. It has a small ring on one end, that attaches around the cervix, and a big ring on the other end, that keeps it outside the vagina. Some also have some extra plastic sheeting to cover the external female parts so that the female is safe from coming into contact with all male fluids. But they aren't comfortable, and are messy, so most people don't use them. I tried to say that as non-graphically as possible.

Oh the actual female condom.

Shows my age. I'm back at dental dams.

Lord forgive me for answering the question posed out there about fitting a child..............just go over to crimes against children.

Is anyone else really, really disturbed by the "female condom" -?? I don't know anyone who actually uses those things. But I could see a perp using one to keep his DNA off of a young girl. And now I am going to throw up.

I do know that female condoms are recommended to prevent spread of the Herpes virus from an infected partner to an uninfected one.

It's been discussed before that LE gets a search warrant anyway even if the family consents, so there is no possible legal snarl later.

YES.

It is also typical for onlookers to assume that search translates into guilt.

It does not.

Victimology is extremely important when solving a crime. The choice of victim says a great deal about the perp. To know a victim, LE must examine their lives in detail, even if they are a very small child.

This often means forensically combing the victims home.

They might only be news helicopters looking for tonight's leading story.

It should not be acceptable to the child's parents!!! My daughter is 5, and there is not one SINGLE REASON she needs to be out roaming our neighborhood. My impression of the OP's statement was that the parents of this child shouldn't have just let their young kid wander freely. Sure the child wanted to, but that does not mean she should have been allowed to. My job as a mother is to set the boundaries for my daughter. She wants a LOT of things that aren't good for her. She is pretty certain she doesn't think Kindergarten is the best idea for her. Should I just shrug my shoulders and be like, "well, she'll do what she wants!" and let her make her own choices? NO! This is not Alanna's parents' fault that this happened, and I don't blame them for the decision of a horrible person. I just wish they had kept a tighter rein on her, and maybe this wouldn't have happened. :(

Sure, maybe playing outside with other kids in and of it self isn't dangerous. But it is NOT SAFE or WISE to let very young little kids wander around alone on a regular basis. It just isn't. And not just because they can be kidnapped either! Hit by a car? Bit by a dog? Find a nasty dirty needle (that actually happened while I was playing with a kid outside while a nanny in a super nice neighborhood)? Lots of things can happen that little kids aren't equipped to handle!

Maybe kidnapping is rare, things like this seldom happen, blah blah blah, but when they do, the alone kids are the ones that make the easiest targets... There are freaks in the world who want nothing more than to find a kid playing alone out by the street.

It just seems that the kids who have a known, longstanding history of wandering aimlessly alone on a regular basis, unsupervised, and with nobody checking up on them...are the ones that end up with their very own thread on WebSleuths.

Rest in Peace Alanna. I'm so sorry this happened to you. You deserved so much better.

one of the best posts I have seen written here.

and to reiterate:

*Lots of things can happen that little kids aren't equipped to handle!

*Maybe kidnapping is rare, things like this seldom happen, blah blah blah, but when they do, the alone kids are the ones that make the easiest targets

I could say a lot more to add to this, but I will just end with a big ol 'ditto'.

Yes. There is nothing unusual about the search at all. Just some of the things taken.

I had a thought too horrible to post.............. :(

I know...OMG...I know! I tried real hard earlier to put my thoughts about one possible use of the tp into the least disgusting description. I couldn't even begin to type my other thought. Poor sweet baby girl...so precious and innocent. I can't wait for them to catch whoever did this. I'm finding myself in "find Caylee" mode again...not good when there's so much to be done around here.

But wasn't there a mention of a Honda? That's what threw me...

I am trying to keep up with everything today but find myself resorting to google to figure out what you are talking about.....and then I remember feeling guilty for googling 'chloroform' during the CA trial.
....and now I have to wonder if NSA is watching me google....

Sometimes parents agree to a search without a warrant but many times LE get them anyway to prevent that coming up in court by the defense. Think Isabel Celis case.
