Here is a case where the child went to a friend's house, and was murdered by someone in the house:

Six-year-old Michelle Dorr was last seen outside her father's Silver Spring home May 31, 1986. Police believe she walked to a nearby home to play with a 5-year-old friend.

Prosecutors contended during the trial that Hadden Clark encountered the girl playing at his brother's house and slashed her to death. Clark, 47, was convicted Monday of second-degree murder.

Here's a case where the child was drowned on purpose:

A baby sitter who the authorities said drowned his 4-year-old neighbor after she walked in on him as he showered was arrested on Saturday after he led the police to the girl's body.

The man, Jeremy Lipscomb Skocz, 18, said he wanted to stop the girl, Shelby Cox, from crying after she refused to leave the bathroom last Monday, the authorities said.

He said he taped her mouth shut and placed her face-down in a full bathtub until she stopped moving, the police said.

If Alanna went to a friends house and no one was home, then I believe the crime began here. Did she meet another person at that location who was caring for the property i.e. watering, grass cutting, picking up the mail, putting out the garbage, etc. Did she decide to walk to another friend's house?

Also, is the curb where Alanna was dropped off normally the curbside where garbage would be placed? It doesn't seem so to me.

I wonder how extensively LE has searched around the house/property where her friend lived. If someone met her like you suggest, that someone had to have some privacy to do whatever awful things they did.

What does MOO stand for? And BBM?

:moo: <-----That's where the little cow comes from, "My Opinion Only".

When I first came on here I thought BBM was someone's initials. Then I was still writing out in full words, "Bolded By Me" and then one day a BIG GONG went off in my head..."OH! That's what they mean".

Don't feel bad.

Oh, thanks! I was getting you mixed up with another poster. I haven't been on much the last day or so. Sorry about that :)

I'm sorry if my post confused you, I was just heading out and posted my thoughts hastily or I would have quoted which post mentioned the 6-8pm pick up. TY bar2121 for clearing it up :)

As far as door to door salespeople, just get a "No Soliciting" sign, and get a "No Trespassing" sign from your local hardware store. They are very inexpensive, and will keep all that foot traffic down. You can even make your own if handy about such things, as long as they are legible and durable for outside.

Around here most of those door to door people are scammers saying they are there for a youth group or something, while they are clearly high as heck on something with very red eyes and anger issues, they are just scoping out the neighborhoods. That is when it is time to call the non-emergency police number and have them send a car around to check the person out.

I do not answer my door anymore if no one has told me in advance they are coming to visit. I don't even go to the door.

I just saw the post about Alanna's friend not being home. The one she wanted to go see and stay out a bit later for. Wow, that just set all the gears in motion. A lone child wandering around and clearly a bit down in the dumps is an easy target for any kind of happy face and opening line. :( :(

Those scams are still big, and in my area, the scammers claim to be from a local high school's sports team. LE let people know as did the high school as local sports teams don't go door to door for fundraising.

I was also made aware by LE that it's better to let door knockers that someone is home when a house in the neighborhood was broken into because nobody answered the door when people knocked. Now, I just tell them that I'm not interested through the closed and deadbolted door. It was easier keeping scammers, missionaries, and salespeople away when I had dogs, as their barking was enough of a deterrent.

......or properties between her house and where her friend lived.........

LDhummingbird. I don't have any questions but I just wanted to thank you for coming on the board and answering questions openly in what must be such a horrible time, I can't imagine how you must feel and want to send my heartfelt condolences. All any of us want is justice for Alanna and her family and loved ones. Love and hugs from across the pond xx

If I remember correctly, that case happened in Philly. A little girl went to play with her friend who wasn't home - but the uncle was. It took years for LE to figure out and go over that row house with a fine toothed comb, but they did it, and they got him.

It also happened with Skylar Dials from Georgia about 6 months ago. In her case it was the mother's boyfriend who was there, I think. Unfortunately, cases are starting to run together for me.

I think it is also possible that her parents knocked on the door of the perp and she was still there. That would make a perp want to get her out of there and back in a hurry. He or she would think the next knock on the door would be LE

Good point Jo. But then I am back to why that street corner? I got turned around looking for that intersection and ended up facing a huge overgrown field by a school close to there. I remember telling my friend "now this is where I would dump a body in a hurry." I wonder if the perp was trying to implicate someone who lives near the dump site?

The thing is that we tend to think of what we would do, we would never do what was done.
No telling what the perp was thinking.

The school you can see from that field is the one that Alanna went to kindergarten at last year.

A friend of mine has a sign that purports to be a city license allowing her to keep dangerous dogs. It's taped beside the doorbell. She doesn't even own a dog. She says it works pretty well.

Maybe the get away quick factor? If you dump a body n the middle of a field you will have to park there and get out of your car to carry the body n the field and then spend some time drudging back and then someone might see you. If you dump a body on the road you can just stop or slow down f you have a partner and drive away fast. And f you were spotted you may not have a good explanaton for being parked next to the overgrown field but if you're spotted driving through an intersection near your home you can always say, yes, officer, I was going to the store just before they found the body but I'm sorry didn't see anything, I must have been there just before someone dumped her.

Was there a trash can nearby for the people how found her to put the bag into? I thought it was said trash cans are not used. If trash was left at curb in bags, why did it stand out so much?

Idk whether you're thinking about what I wrote, but I said bins are not required. Some use them, some don't. If trash hadnt already been picked up, the tarp would have stuck out bc it wasn't up on a lawn. Plus, this being their home, they know they didn't put it there so it would've stuck out to them no matter what. And, of course, if the trash had already been picked up it would have stuck out to everyone. I am absolutely guilty of driving around trash in the road though. I know that's not very neighborly, but I think trash is gross and I don't even take out my own.

LDhummingbird was the trash pick up on Alanna's street yet when you left their home?

Maybe the perp put Alanna at Cindy Ln and Roundrock Dr b/c the trash had been picked up already. Closest street from their home with no one out, to get rid of her. Might have wanted her to be found instead of thrown in the garbage truck.

I don't remember if there was trash out or not, sorry. The Gallagher family had not put any out yet but may well have intended to after I left the house, or since they had been gone the previous week, there may not have been enough trash to put out.

Does Saginaw PD provide a police log to the community for all calls called in?

Boggles my mind that a 6yo can be murdered and no one has a clue who or why. I simply cannot fathom there being no arrest as of yet. Kids can disappear fast but from what I have been reading no one was keeping a sharp eye on this girl. She 'might' have gone to a friends? A 6yo should not have that much freedom because they don't know the dangers. Sad sad situation IMO.

Going back to the (possible) restraints. It has been speculated on this thread that Alanna had been bound with something that left marks, but whatever was used was not with her body. Binding a victim is often to subdue someone. This makes me wonder if perhaps she was bundled into a car and tied up to keep her still. I'm thinking of Austin Sigg here. Perhaps the perp drove her to the murder site. I feel so bad just writing this about Alanna.
