I got very upset earlier with the defense trying to steer the blame of murdering Athena on an unverified Autism diagnosis

After overcoming that emotional reaction, I'm now of the opinion that no matter if he has or hasn't. Autism does not make one more prone to murder

Defense can come up with every excuse in the book , each member of that court room seen evidence of his premeditation and his intent on procurement of a little girl . He was prowling like a predator for prey . He waited for conditions to be in his favour , a child alone .

He was able to maintain his demeanour while passing searchers looking for Athena and until he was caught he carried on with his delivery job . This proves he was fully functioning and not in the throws of a meltdown .

He knew well to hide her body and was in his senses locating a place in which to do that , he left her in water to try get rid of Dna and he knew to clean his van after his evil deed and went home with no one the wiser for what he had done

These so called experts have no clue that Autism goes beyond traits and meltdowns
It often involves perseveration which is the inability to move from one task to another and the person will not be able to think laterally and ruminate for days

Tanner showed he was well able to move laterally from one task to another with ease and without ruminating over his next move

He and his defence make me sick and all these people that are speculating that autism caused him to murder should go touch grass to put it politely

And he lured her close to his truck, then intentionally used calming language until he could get Athena far enough away from anyone who would hear her scream.

Advanced communication/manipulation.

What? Now the expert is back to saying that TH's lies and excuses in his letters muddy the water but still claims it shows remorse. Huh?

his lies are just evidence of how limited poor poor Tanner's theory of mind is.

FFS get her off the stand.

Finally! "There's no cause and effect here to explain his violent acts."

OMG

The judge, coughing, before excusing the jury until tomorrow, said "before I choke to death."

How, how, how could he say something so imappropriate when the victim died by strangulation?????

I'm beyond appalled.

How, how, how could he say something so casual when the victim died by strangulation?????

I'm appalled.
Dude... he needs to apologize for that.
IMO.

Surely he's capable of remorse. However, he was rewarded with laughter.

I doubt Athena's loved ones were laughing.

FGS I don’t understand how so many professionals and retired professionals here in our WS membership can see so clearly yet the so-called experts on the stand miss by a mile.

Is it a case of subpar experts or is it paid experts struggling to fulfill their contracts with the defense?

It wasn't in good taste for sure. I doubt he even thought about it and realized how out of place that statements was considering why they are all there.

Prehaps a Freudian slip up and the judge had a leaking of his thoughts on what the verdict should be for that monster

I think it is a bit of both subpar and paid experts struggling to fulfill their contracts

Is "emotional disregulation" psychospeak for "royal jerk"?

Asking for friend.

Yes. And really, MOO, is lack of parenting and actual rules. Kid too "hard" to deal with, so just ignore everything.

Last week, defense witnesses described Horner’s past and present as attorneys argued over whether he would remain a threat if sentenced to prison for life.

The defense is trying to show that Horner would not be a continuing threat to society if he were placed in a controlled environment such as a state prison, and that his life should be spared. Prosecutors are trying to show the opposite: that Horner would remain a threat and should be sentenced to death
I beg to differ with the defense. By statement from one of their own witnesses, a change of routine could be a triggering event causing him to snap so, IMO, he would be a continuing threat to society ...the prison society....if his routine was changed. Shower at a different time; exercise in a different yard; table change at meal time; commissary delivery time change, etc. Just because there are no little girls in prison doesn't mean that he's not capable of a murderous rage against another inmate that may be smaller and/or meeker than himself.

That takes care of a yes answer to question #1 (future dangerousness) that the jury will have to answer.
Question #2 (intent) is a resounding yes.
Question #3 (mitigating circumstances) going by what has been presented so far I'm going to vote No.

Or all that garbage the defense is trying to get everyone to swallow.

I immediately came up with the 'Pawn Star" meme:

"Best I can do......"

This defense did their best with zero. Literally.
