This family should be ashamed. Even if you kept telling yourself your son stabbed someone in self defense because that's what you needed to believe, this "playing the victim/we are owed something" behavior is disgusting, IMO. The other 17-year-old was just buried. But they have to milk this for all they can get. IMO.

Why was that photo even necessary? To put out on social media in order to keep the donations rolling in? This case is going to work it’s way through the justice system based on the laws in the state of Texas. Not the court of social media or public opinion.

Are they seeking notoriety, I just don’t understand this kind of posturing given the factual circumstances?

I believe next will be the assembly of a grand jury. I wonder if KA will also be charged with possessing the knife.

@Chimera agreed. Your son is in jail, so why do you need to take a month off from work? He isn't going anywhere. (Unless they use the funds for bail money), but if they are buying a new house, I guess that money is going to drain pretty fast.

Honestly, that kid, 17 years old, can't leave the house! Unless the judge allows it. Maybe to go to school? Unless the District kicks him out for having a weapon on school property. So, maybe work?

That would drive me crazy, to have a 17 year old at home every second of the day.

I have a feeling that the dad CAN'T go to work, because he's being harassed, whether by co-workers, or outsiders.

I am interested in why the judge was changed, to "Family Court". Does this indicate that the State will not charge KA as an "adult"? And it will stay in the Juvenile system? That has huge implications for everything here. And turns what I saw as a cold blooded, premeditated murder, into a school incident.

I have a feeling that if Karmelo is exonerated, he'll be about as popular with the general public as OJ Simpson was.

All K. had to do is 1. Not bring a weapon to a track meet and 2. Use his words, any words, and walk away.

I sincerely hope Austin’s family all sue everyone from the top down for wrongful death/ slander. Bankrupt / burying them is better than nothing. It won't bring Austin back though which is the saddest part. I feel so badly for his twin too jmo
