I don't know, seems odd that Mr. Metcalf had to quit his job due to security issues. I guess that both Mr. Metcalf and his ex wife, Mrs. Needham have separate "fund me" accounts.
FWIW, I work for an NFP that has been around since 1929, and I looked at our 990 on Guidestar and there were no signatures for 2023. Maybe they are being redacted now? I know I have seen them on organic 990s in the past.Cash Basis Accounting? Accrual Basis Accounting? Or Cookie Jar Basis of Accounting?
I Google searched "81-2565213" and "NGAN 81-2565213."
Let me note, this is not accusing D. Alexander (spokesman for K.A.'s parents), other officers, or board members of NGAN of any financial wrongdoing or may have caused these IRS filings to be submitted 2 yrs late, for 2017 & 2020. After all, not like an individual might delay filing a fed return because he wants to wait until he scrapes up the $$$ to pay the tax owed.
IDK what caused them to be delinquent. But late filings may be a red flag w any other financial irregularities.
From very quickly skimming the forms, no specific numbers jumped out for me.
(except the 2017 form showed a $1200 website expense, but page 1, line "i" space for website was left blank. Funny, that).
A website ( Instrumentl.com) using IRS digitized data gives this info for NGAN
"Based on most recent IRS 990 filing (2020)"
"990 Forms as PDFs" "2020, 2017"
Prompts me to wonder if NGAN filed returns for any other years, like 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.
ETA
At a certain point, IRS revokes the fed tax exemption status of a 501(c)(3).
People making contributions to such an org. could not claim those contrib's on a fed return w itemized deductions.
For the curious, tedious details below.
__________________________________________________________________
On behalf of NGAN, Dominique Alexander (KA's Parents' spokesperson) signed the 990-EZ "Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax" a required "information return" document w IRS , for 2017 year which the IRS stamped postmarked & scanned in April 2020.
D. Alexander signed in April 2020, as did the preparer at BryteBridge Consulting.
"Full text of "Reasonable cause explanation" for fiscal year ending Dec. 2020"
"Name:
NEXT GENERATION ACTION NETWORK FOUNDATION
EIN: 81-2565213....
"Explanation:
The organization was unaware of the filing requirements and due date, as well as the need to keep adequate books and records on an ongoing basis, and thus have resolved to undertake the Form 990 each year within 90 days after the end of the fiscal year. In addition, each quarter our board will review the IRS website and Exempt Organizations update to ensure that no changes have occurred in regard to our annual compliance requirements." bbm
NGAN 990-EZ forms for 2020 which IRS elec.-marked "Submission: 2022-04-12."
The signature block included0 the 4-04-2022 date
- title and name President Dominique Alexander, but no signature,
- name of paid preparer, both the inividual firm (BryteBridge Consulting), but no signature.
On some electronically signed doc's (like some I've used on real estate transactions), the software creates a script-like signature, but IDK if that happens w IRS 501(c)(3) returns. Lack of handwritten siggies may be standard on these.
At tail end, same "Reasonable Cause Explanation." Presumably for late filing?
Could be a semi-feasible explanation first time around? But if there is some continuity in an org's board members, officers, employees from year to year, well, recycling this as excuse seems feeble.

Re: the bolded section above, I'm wondering if you pasted the wrong link? I haven't seen anywhere that Mr. Metcalf was receiving hostility from co-workers. I responded to your post last night not even realizing that's what you'd stated, I just saw the link and knew it had already been posted here.Jeff Metcalf has resigned from his real estate firm, citing hostility from co-workers. It's the New York Post, so it's one of those FWIW sources.

@Knox Thx for response.I think we should keep an eye on any updates to the NP filing, surely money is going to begin rolling in due to DA's association with this case.

I recall this info being out there early on then disappearing. It does appear to be true, as the school was attempting to do some damage control.View attachment 582415

Yes, all this information was given to us from a very reliable source close to the investigation. However, the school district has chosen not to reply to our questions regarding this information. Therefore, we have pulled the info temporarily in order to allow the school district time to respond accordingly.

Frisco school board faces new questions after fatal stabbing of student Austin Metcalf
It was the district's first community input meeting since the 17-year-old was stabbed to death during a track meet at Kuykendall Stadium.www.cbsnews.com

Oh. My. Goodness.Yes, his not being a participant coupled with skipping out on school, if true and I suspect it is, definitely pulls things into focus.
If it's coming from law enforcement themselves, I tend to think it's valid !View attachment 582415

I guess he could say he wanted to support his teammates or something. It would be interesting to see what his actions were that day; who did he talk to, where did he hangout. Did he stay with his school's team most of the time?So the question remains... if KA wasn't involved in that track meet through his own school's team, and was supposed to be in class at another school...
What was his reason for ditching class & showing up under a another team's tent, with a lethal weapon in his backpack?
His self-defense claim was already on a very thin ice. This just seems to blow it completely out of the water.
I doubt that even KA can fully articulate an answer to that question. What was his reason for ditching class & showing up under a another team's tent, with a lethal weapon in his backpack?
There wouldn't be any reason for his teammates to even be there. If I understand it correctly, he (was) the captain of his own school's track team. If he was skipping school and supposed to be in class, his team wasn't there competing.I guess he could say he wanted to support his teammates or something. It would be interesting to see what his actions were that day; who did he talk to, where did he hangout. Did he stay with his school's team most of the time?
It does certainly hurt his self defense claim that he went there, not to compete and took a knife. The prosecution will use that tell the jury that KA went there looking for trouble.
