TX - Austin Metcalf - 17 - fatally stabbed at track meet, 2 April 2025

Essentially all of the participants carry back packs full of digital this and that, homework- well for the more studious ones, snack, shoes, sweats etc.

The back packs are essentially never searched. Unlike football games in my area where metal detectors are the norm, deadly violence at track meets is essentially unheard of.
There's a great chance the accused had to have the knife in his backpack all day. Sure think the school should be looking into this.

I'm just back to square one. How could a kid conceal a knife at a track meet? Was he going to run with it in his pocket? Sure seems he had it in school that day. Has he been questioned about in school, and, if so, he should be suspended for having a weapon in school. If not, where did he have it all day?

Reportedly, KA pulled the knife from his gym bag he carried to the tent, and given the hour of the tragic event, he likely went straight to the school bus that morning that was waiting to transport the team to the 11-5A championship district track meet held at Kukyendall Stadium.

IMO, it seems more likely that KA received the knife after he got off the bus at the stadium. Seems a student-athlete of KA's caliber would know better than to take a weapon to school and/or on the school bus. JMO

'Karmelo deserves what every citizen deserves: fair treatment and full rights under the law. We won’t stop fighting until he gets it,' the organization [Next Generation Action Network (NGAN)] added alongside the donation link to raise money for him.

Since the tragic event unfolded, two fundraisers were created - one in honor of Austin and the other to support Karmelo, who has admitted killing Austin but claims he did so in self-defense.

As of Sunday afternoon, more than $400,000 was raised for Karmelo and his family 'during this challenging and difficult time,' while Austin's has reached about $340,000.

"... a spokesman for Karmelo was forced to deny that the accused killer had been bullied by Austin before the fatal confrontation at the match."

The two boys had never met one another prior to the horrific stabbing.

Going to be an interesting trial. I see protestors outside the court and problems inside. Racial divide, for certain.
I'm also predicting a change of venue, because they won't be able to find an impartial jury in the DFW area.

KA has changed his legal team. And he has raised over $400,000 for his defense.

I don't think there will be a change of venue in this case.

Prosecutors ask $1 million bond remain in place telling judge that amount is standard for murder cases in Collin County. Also, says this is a case of unjustified "plain and simple first degree murder. It's as simple as it is brutal." Prosecutors say Anthony's family has ability to pay once it accesses online donation fund.

A teen who fatally stabbed a 17-year-old boy at a Texas track meet was involved in an 'assault' at his school earlier this year, prosecutors said.

Karmelo Anthony's father was questioned in court over an incident in the teen's high school back in February that involved an altercation 'assault.'

It's not clear whether Anthony was an aggressor, victim or witness in the incident, which was handled internally by Frisco's independent school district.

I am guessing he was not the victim if the prosecutor brought that up. They'll have records of it from Frisco ISD. Guess this was their way of showing the judge there are precedents/previous behavioral and disciplinary issues prior to this murder.
