I reserve the deepest sympathy for the victim and his family.

That said, this vulture is pretty much ensuring that a seventeen year old first time offender isn't going to get a fair trial, but a circus. There's no justice in that for anyone. And the only reason I can see for it is this individual is using this child as a platform for his own ego and, first and foremost, to make himself money.

WOW! I was completely wrong about DA. His truthful admission that his involvement in this case is really only about “him and his ego” is SPOT on!!!

What a narcissistic statement, how can anyone possibly take this guy seriously?

SMH Getting to be I'm reluctant to check news updates on this case all because I don't want to read any more ever about this or what he has to say. This shameful fake 'minister' mouthpiece can keep trying to paint all kinds of lipstick on this (himself and his own crimes included) but at the end of the day, and hopefully the trial, there is no justifying murdering an unarmed juvenile young man presenting no threat to the safety of anybody. jmo

Yeah, sure. He is a 17 year old kid, with absolutely nothing. And it doesn't seem like his family has much either.

Ron Goldman's family tried to get money out of OJ for years, I think that they blocked his sale of the book, "If I Did It". And there is the gal in Georgia who pretended she was kidnapped, Carlee Russell, she has an $18,000 judgement, I think she is paying $50 a month.

So, a civil case against KA isn't going to go anywhere. Maybe against the school district? Lack of security? Even suing his parents probably won't yield much, because the only chunk of money they have is the "defense" fund, which seems to be chipping away, for more than "defense".

I definitely don't think that this "minister" is helping KA or his family. One thing I have noticed here, is that the "big" civil rights attorneys, like Ben Crump, have been conspicuously absent in this mess.

Because, it is not an obvious winner here. Just a punk kid who knifed another kid. This isn't about "Black Lives Matter". Because, no one really threatened Karmelo Anthony. He was asked to leave a place he was not supposed to be.

I am really wondering if he has had other incidents similar to this, it sounded like he had, but they were buried under "juvenile records". And school incidents.

Can you share a link that verifies he wasn't a good student? So far, all I've read implies that he was very involved in school and had good grades. Which somehow, makes it even more outrageous that he killed another person over something so preposterously stupid.

He truly is a spokesperson & publicity person, so it looks like his hands will be clean. The fundraiser is in the mom’s name, so if there’s any accountability, it’s on her. The fundraiser current goal is $600K and right now it’s $531,161. Has it crossed anyone thoughts there may be another avenue for attorney fees? The wording on the campaign website, IMO, downplays the legal fees & seems to focus on security, relocation & living expenses. Just curious!

I haven’t heard much from KA’s attorney, Mike Howard. He probably tries his cases in court.

I'm not saying it's inaccurate re fundraiser. Confirming the explicitly stated "purpose," by quoting verbatim from fundraiser site:

"... to provide comprehensive assistance to the Anthony family.... this fund is not solely dedicated to legal expenses."

I’ve probably worded it poorly, I was trying to say given the campaign purpose(s), I wouldn’t be surprised if there were additional funds for his defense. I think his bond/bail was paid entirely by someone else.
