Ooookaay. That's disturbing. There's the "cosmic war" mixing religion with training kids to mimic killing people. Knife fighting? Target practice with guns, mixed in with conservative religious instruction & Bible study?

:ohoh:

Here is one of the music videos

This Carman guy sounds like a real huckster

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carman_(singer)

I've been to Bible camp and none of those activities were ever offered. The camp sounds a bit off RIOT? Is it an extremist survivalist camp or like Boy Scot Scouts I wonder.

Not like Boy Scouts or any Bible camp I've seen. More like survivalism mixed with training for war and reading the Bible. Scary.

From the interview with his friend at the link, it sounds like his parents were survivalists. In the area where I live, that's not uncommon in some fundamentalist Christian families who home school. That may not be the norm, but its similar to quite a few families I know and have encountered. I don't discriminate or judge people like that, but, it's not my thing. These are mostly families I've met who my kids befriended when they were young.

He was 24 and by tax records co-owner of a house. He was an adult. He didn't live with his parents. Not sure your point here?

Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk

He was unemployed since August. Where did he get money?

I seriously doubt the bomber had a whole lot of school debt from 2 years of community college. I don't know why we are comparing hypothetical non-bombers to him. IF his "reason" for bombing was because he had college debt and struggled to find a job...well...I don't think anyone should get sympathy for that.

a single semester of community college from where I am, which is just next door to Texas, was $12,355. ONE semester, not counting books. For a measly 4 classes. Including ******** classes they throw at you that a required to graduate just to milk more money out of you.
Anyway I was talking about the general state of millennial and being a young person in today's world , not the shooter specifically. The shooter's problem was coming from his demographic.

After having time to process the news I wonder if

-He may have only blown up one package and the other one went off because of the first one exploding near it

-I do think he would have put more bombs out if not caught. Glad LE got to him and glad he is no longer a threat.

-I still dont understand why he got careless and went into the FEDEX store himself to ship a package. Wearing gloves no less. So many clues he gave away once he did that and video too.

Was he that stupid all this time or was he at his end game and wanted to finally get caught?
I almost feel like he wanted suicide by cop where he wanted a final confrontation.

I think we are going to find there is nothing at all logical or understandable about what he did. I think it's natural to find a reason, a cause...but it's never going to be anything satisfactory or real. There will never be a sympathetic reason for terrorizing a city. Student debt is a problem, not enough jobs is a problem. I don't think it matters here. JMO

no one is saying those were his reasons. I was replying to callousness in regards to why young people today struggle.
his reason is probably more related to what he thinks he is owed by being a white male. aka white privilege. it's been seen over and over again in mass shooters but no one wants to talk about it.

he wanted attention and to become a matyr. if he was a fundie survivalist this is his stand against the world.

Without wanting to feed any tit-for-tat arguments, engaging people who think differently than we do may be very useful for minimizing the percentage of people who keep moving away from social integration.

After Timothy McVeigh I wondered if people had purposefully engaged him would he have continued to move away from social integration to the point where he would feel justified to destroy other human beings as he did? Since then, I have made it a point to talk with people I would not normally have spoken to.

There is no perfect world, but since the 1960s minimizing percentages of extreme behavior where wrong thinking is the root is a thing people can work toward by engagement. But, in this era it seems people no longer reach out or listen to each other in the same way.

These things are simply my perceptions reflecting the past 50 years.

Police questioning Austin bombing suspect's two male roommates. One of their moms tells KXAN she hasn't heard from her son

(Via KXAN News)

I feel that if his roommate was black the likelihood that this was related to race is quite low.

#AustinBombings suspects' family releases statement: "We had no idea of the darkness that Mark must have been in. Our family is a normal family in every way."

2 p.m. update: CNN is reporting it has obtained a statement from relatives of bombing suspect Mark Conditt:

“We are devastated and broken at the news that our family could be involved in such an awful way. We had no idea of the darkness that Mark must have been in. Our family is a normal family in every way. We love, we pray, and we try to inspire and serve others. Right now our prayers are for those families that have lost loved ones, for those impacted in any way, and for the soul of our Mark. We are grieving and we are in shock. Please respect our privacy as we deal with this terrible, terrible knowledge and try to support each other through this time.” https://www.statesman.com/news/loca...ct-releases-statement/WKajysywCqjuMpEEPtYPSL/

I feel for these people. Frankly I can't imagine. That being said for once I'd like to not see distancing language from the family members of perps. The victims "lost" their lives. Nothing in the statement to connect their deaths directly to their son's actions. He killed them. It was at his hands. Where is the "as a a result of.." or "due to..."

I almost never see it. The direct language: "We are horrified by what our son did and pray for the families of his victims" or "...of those who lost their lives due to his terrible actions."

It's a fair question. It could be that his parents were still helping him out financially. Being out of a job for so long, it's possible he was going to lose his house. Another reason for his anger, lashing out, suicidal behavior, etc.

It kills me to think of what could have happened. There's a park RIGHT THERE next to his house. Like, if there would have been a bad explosion, it could have hurt SO many people. There's bars, a convenience store, other houses, etc.

I was looking at a picture of his house and seen Children’s toys and thought of what could have been. Thank goodness nothing did happen.
I also noticed it seemed like there were a few layers of chain link fence around his place but I guess it could have been the park too? It was really hard to tell from the picture I seen on one of the msm photos and I ha e seen so many idk which one it was atm

I just asked the FBI off camera if they would label the Austin bomber a terrorist, spokeswoman said that’s part of an “ongoing investigation” and they would not put a label on him until they could figure out his motive. #AustinBombings

BBM. On their website it says that the average annual cost of attendance is $2,550, and supplies $1200. The real cost is in room and board, which he wouldn't need I assume. Again, I understand wanting to make sense, but the struggles of a millennial does not cause an extremest reaction like this. His problem was not his demographic. Is that was a problem, bombing would happen more often. We will probably never know what caused him to choose this, but it's probably something that festered in him most of his life. JMO.

**He was not a shooter...?

How in the WORLD did this turn into a race issue?

Speaking of issues, I will be issuing timeouts and bans for disrupting the discussion.

LEAVE RACE OUT OF IT.

Exact reason I posted those.
