GUILTY TX - Bimal Patel, 29, burned alive, Austin, 17 April 2012

  • #21
I have been watching this trial since Tuesday and it is the most unorganized trial I have ever seen. Full of side bars and sending the jury out. Defence complaining about evidence.

I won't be surprised if the judge gives the defense a continuance.

:giggle: You should check out Marissa Devault.

I JUST posted this on that thread, I was off on a rant.-

@nancygill @Simma_dunn_naw State will rest today and it's on for next week then break

I have to say this. Arizona REALLY needs an overhaul of it's court system.
This will be the second break in a month!
After watching a couple trials in NC, I think they should contract some consultants to AZ and help them out on how things should be run.
Specifically, Judge Donald Stephens. He is retiring, a nice consultant job could be a nice side activity for him

Oh Nymeria I totally agree with you! I think AZ court system is a total joke and there livestream and then not is so unfair. Why would you start off livestreaming then just do it off and on? I like NC court system much better other than listening to Judge Stevens breathing and sniffling into the mike. lol

Farrell says he used a dye stain that made the prints glow on the gas can and then documented them with photographs.

Statesman Courts ‏@AustinCourts 1m
Prosecutor David Levingston pulls out the red gas can. Farrell explains how he used a dye stain to test it for latent prints.

Statesman Courts ‏@AustinCourts 2m
Farrell says he tested several items from the Patels’ North Austin apartment for latent prints.

Statesman Courts ‏@AustinCourts 2m
Farrell says “latent prints” are essentially invisible fingerprints that need to be processed in order to be seen.

Statesman Courts ‏@AustinCourts 2m
Farrell says there are some surfaces that are difficult to obtain prints from, those with rough or wet textures.

Good thing he was able to tell responders that she did this to him.
Good luck with her defence saying it was an assisted suicide.
What a scary human being she is, hidden behind a pretty face.

Jurors hear from first responders who found Bimal Patel severely burned, screaming

5 p.m. update: On the stand Wednesday, emergency responders said that when they arrived to the North Austin apartment of Shriya and Bimal Patel on April 17, 2012, they found Bimal Patel severely burned and screaming, “Why would she do this?”

Bimal Patel, 29, was rushed to North Austin Medical Center, where he was put on a breathing tube and another emergency physician heard him ask: “Why would she do this to me? Why would anyone do this to me?”

The testimony came on the second day of a capital murder trial for Shriya Patel, who prosecutors say splashed her husband with gasoline and lit him on fire. If convicted, she faces life in prison without parole.
