It sounds like they were working from this article:

Zadel says residents can access the fourth floor, where Jean lived, only by elevator.

South Side Flats Residents React to Death of Neighbor Botham Shem Jean

Do we know for sure that they took him by stairs and not the elevator? Sorry if I missed that!

Stairway doors may open only into the stairway and not into the hallway. Hospitals I have worked at are like that. If you exit into stairway on 10th floor you have to walk down to 1st floor to exit. Cannot enter any hallways from stairs, except for security.

I would be willing to bet that the elevators were too small for a stretcher. That should be a consideration for people living in the complex.

I sure would like to know how well that area is illuminated at night and especially with respect to the direction his window faces because his window blinds were wide open.

Big city lights, how dark could that room really have been even if the door wasn't open allowing light from the hallway to illuminate the room?

A video on the FB page of a resident JC on Sept 11 at 9:01pm. She shows a video of the light level in her apt with the lights out and the door open. She mentions that his window faces the courtyard so his must be lighter than hers.
It also FINALLY shows if the door is barely ajar like an inch or less it will still close automatically.
A very good little video.

That's actually a very smart was to protest if you ask me. At AT&T stadium, Sunday night football. Draw attention to the issues since JJ won't let them, why not do it for them. I would have never thought about that.
By doing that, they take the risk of turning people off rather than drawing positive attention to the issues.

Football games are family events and people pay a lot of money to attend.

If they're just marching with signs that's one thing. But if they're shouting at people with their children while they wait to enter, that's another thing.

I'm all for protesting and bringing attention to issues like this. But harassing people? Not so much.

It's along the same lines as what went on during the City Council meeting. Going there to speak your peace is a great idea. Going there to shout chants and profanity accomplishes nothing and just shuts down the opportunity for people to voice their concerns.

Here's what my mindset is and feel free to correct me to why it isn't possible but the rug in his living room is a light color.. if he was shot there, you would think that there would be more blood near it. Maybe not but I tend to think it would .. the cereal is on the ottoman looks like he set it down to answer the door or to look out the door and unless he's laying on clothes on the couch, I can't see him watching tv in the living room. What also confuses me is how quickly this all went down. So she has keys in her hand, but is able to get her gun out of her holster that quickly. I understand they are trained but still .. the thing I worry about the most is the witnesses hearing her shouting "let me in" and then shots. I guarantee they will use that to say that all these witnesses were really hearing her verbal commands. I can almost bet you. Not saying it's right. That's why 911 calls will be important. Also, I know this has been discussed before but do the doors automatically lock like hotel rooms do?
Well this will be the first time someone approached “their” residence and hollered for a “burglar” to “let me in!”
Yes indeed. A first.

Maybe we didn't watch the same protest because I didn't see any shouting nor any talking? Marched without saying anything. That's what I mean by peaceful. and I understand people paying good money to watch a game. But these issues are serious ones and honestly if you can't depend on the justice system then you have to take it in your own hands. Respectfully.

You gotta play the game to change the game.

I see! Well, that would make sense if it was an emergency exit only. But how would they haven't gotten onto the floor in the first place? I wonder if they had the same issue entering the building as the police did? I'm surprised this isn't more msm questions/info on this.

Yes indeed. A first.

And I understand that. I'm saying that I feel like that's what her defense team is going to say that it wasn't let me in, but "verbal commands" followed by two shots. The knocking though, i'm not sure how they would discredit that.

Great article, thanks! Kingston is also a lawyer.
I am not up to date on these threads so I apologize in advance for asking a question everyone else may know the answer to. Did Ms. Guyger live directly below Mr. Jean?

That's why my post said 'IF'.

Yes. That's one of the few things we know for sure.

On Omar Narvaez FB (Dallas City Councilman) account, he copied and pasted the updates from the Asst. City Manager related to the shooting beginning on Sept 7. Omar Narvaez

Very interesting. This says she had a master key.

No worries, there is a lot of info, it can be a lot to read through! Yes, she lived on the third floor in apt 1378. BJ lived on the fourth floor, in 1478.

Mr. Jean's tragic death and story is becoming quite the political situation. Senator Cruz's challenger calls for Killer to be fired.

Well I mean its not anything new or crazy. Its not like it's only one political party doing it. Actually, he should this is a serious issue in this country. I would love to hear how he's willing to help with this issue that plagues our country.

Why does mug shot show a white towel wrapped around Amber Guyger, as if her clothing is being covered?

All the county jails in this area (Dallas) place a towel around your neck for mugshots. Its done to more or less equalize the appearance of prisoners.

That answer will probably only come from tagging some of the residents there on facebook and asking them. If I were there, I'd ask Kaylee? in a heartbeat. She was the "tour guide" for the girl that did the ~20 minute walk through showing the path of blood down the 4 flights of stairs.

You would think a building code would require an elevator able to accomodate a gurney, maybe not? That complex was built new from the ground up in 2015.

I do recall something about a 5th search warrant issued on Sept 14 specifying elevator data and documentation type items. Anyone else? I've only seen the four posted here for that day

Please post a link to the walk through.

If the elevator was not out of service, this is what would be known as a slow code!!! And, it would be illegal!!!
I'm sorry, but I do not agree that taking the stairs signifies this was a slow code. Clearly, it's evident from the video that life saving measures were being performed. The responders didn't seem to be casually strolling down the hall. Imo, if they were waiting to take the elevator I would agree that would be a slow code.
