She shot him against her will?
No.
She willingly shot him.
She said so herself.

She shot him with intent to kill him.

its where the crime took place , but searching hers is a good idea!

She was even allowed to leave the scene with at least one cellphone and presumably unsearched which means if she had a rigged key to get in, she had three days to get rid of it. I don't understand why they didn't take his laptop, damaged or not, and all her devices.

"Crime-scene evidence from Botham Jean’s apartment supports Dallas police Officer Amber Guyger’s account that she shot Jean from across the room as she stood inside his apartment door, two law enforcement officials with direct knowledge of the case told The Dallas Morning News."

Evidence in Botham Jean's home supports Officer Amber Guyger's account that she shot him from across room, officials say | Crime | Dallas News
I wouldn't believe anything that that PD said.

The truth is that the defense will string this out forever, continuance, after continuance, filing writs, change of jurisdiction, change of attorney, until the whole political and news cycle moves on.

The family will be cut a huge check, and at some point in time, there will be a motion to dismiss for cause, and it may merit one short paragraph buried deep in a court finding.

That being said, I don't see the Dallas PD keeping her on indefinitely. Other officers may have major issues working with her, and have their own bias. So, they will wait for a bit, and let her resign.

Yes, I am cynical. I also know how the process works.

By whom exactly will family be cut this check? She was off duty, so unless she is rich, who is going to be cutting the check?

The Dallas PD will be held liable, because they did not discharge her, even according to the police union, she could have been suspended without pay, and since they have not made that public statement, they are in effect, supporting her actions. Liability.

I'm so glad everyone here is so perfect in every way and has never made mistakes. And, by the way , the crime scene evidence supports Amber!
Supports her story that she shot into a dark room from the door. I don't believe her or the PD who have covered up for her and changed her story.
I hope his family sues them mightily.

According to all that's been reported, she didn't actually enter the apt until after she shot him. She shot a silhouette from the doorway that was a man in his home.

The sworn narrative in the search warrant conflicts with that stating he met her at the door where she shot him.........

They have a very high profile situation on their hands and stand to lose alot. But of course not as much as Mr Jean and his family. The DPD will be saying, or not saying, whatever their attorney's tell them to at this point.

Do you have a link to the crime scene evidence?

Except she reckless ignored all the signs that it was not her apartment. The red mat at the door and the fact that her key would not open the door.

The room number right beside the door on a panel, is brightly illuminated and sufficient to illuminate the red rug had the hall lights been out. Impossible to miss.

Agree and I believe she made a mistake, a very bad mistake. The shooting could be seen as accidental, but a life was taken. If you are in a car accident and not intoxicated or on drugs, it may well be an unfortunate accident. If another is killed because of the accident, it doesn’t make the accident ok.

Take a life while blind running drunk and driving you get vehicular manslaugher while impaired at least...... drunk, stoned or tired doesn't excuse reckless and she had intent. The idea is you made the decision to get drunk, stoned, or too tired to do whatever, like find your way to your own home and not murder people in theirs.

I would also say that the Killer's statement that she came home so exhausted from her 15 hour work day, also put her employer on the spot.

Unless they come out, with a unilateral statement that overtime will no longer be permitted.

Police officers mke so much money on overtime, it is crazy. Often, their pension, based on high 3 years of income, can be equal to or more than the retirement for a federal judge!

Mr Jim, if you are LE or know or work with them personally, then you know darn well that they lie & cheat, not to mention their enormous ego's and their nobody can touch me attitude! Don't even pretend that is not the case! And yes I am jaded spent too many years up close and personal! They will not hesitate for one second to lie and fabricate evidence and ruin someone else's life just to cover up their own minor infraction.
Thank you. I prefer to be addressed as "Mister."

I am sure I read reported from a credible source that DPD's policy allows 16 hour shifts.
