One week after the story broke, here's the timeline of events and the questions that remain:

SEPT. 6 (LATE EVENING): THE SHOOTING
After a more than 13-hour shift, Guyger drives to the South Side Flats Thursday evening in Dallas. According to her account, she accidentally parks on the fourth floor of the parking lot, a floor above from where she normally parks.

Believing she was on the third level, Guyger alleges, she walked to what she thought was her apartment. It wasn't. It was Jean's unit, located directly above her residence. At some point, the off-duty officer, still in uniform, makes contact with an unarmed Jean, who she shoots twice. Guyger calls 911 at about 10 p.m. and Jean is transported to a nearby hospital where he's pronounced dead.

SEPT 7. (EARLY MORNING): NEWS BREAKS
News of Jean's shooting death breaks. Dallas police reveal an unnamed officer shot and killed a man she believed to be an intruder. DPD says the officer has been placed on administrative leave and that they're working with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office on the investigation.

Later in the morning, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office identifies the victim as Botham Shem Jean, a native of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean who moved from Arkansas where he graduated from Harding University to Dallas to work at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

SEPT 7. (AFTERNOON): ARREST WARRANT ON THE WAY?
Chief Renee Hall holds a press conference to pledge the Dallas Police Department will be transparent during the investigation. Hall says blood was drawn from the officer involved for alcohol and drug testing.

"And at my request, we are in the process of obtaining a warrant based on the circumstances we have right now," Hall says. The chief also reveals they have asked the Texas Rangers to conduct an independent investigation of the case. She also says it's still unclear "what interaction was between them [the officer and Botham]" that led to the shooting. The officer's identity isn't revealed. It's expected the officer will be charged with manslaughter.

SEPT. 8 (MORNING/AFTER NOON): POLICE "HOLD OFF" ON WAR RANT
As Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings meets with Jean's mother, citizens continue to await news of a warrant. The mayor says Jean's mother told him, "I'm not angry. I'm heartbroken, and I want to make sure all of the truth is told." The mayor asks Dallas residents to be patient with the Texas Rangers.

Chief Hall later says "we [the Dallas Police Department] have no role in the investigation process. She also says the Rangers asked her to "hold off" on issuing a warrant for the officer, who still hasn't been identified.

SEPT. 8 (EVENING): OFFICER AMBER GUYGER IDENTIFIED
At 7:16 p.m., Officer Amber Guyger, a four-year veteran with the Dallas Police Department, is identified as the shooter. It's confirmed Jean didn't know Guyger.
The Botham Jean shooting: One week later

It goes on and on until today. My iPad is on the blink, gotta give it a rest. So go check it out. The article is a good one to help establish a timeline thread. My magic eight ball tells me we’re gonna need one.

Marijuana can increase paranoia in some people. That would actually fit her narrative of a "burglar" in "her" apt.

The notion that she was "Security" here is interesting, I wonder if she had a pass key for apartments, and used that, instead of her key.

Re the parking situation, IIRC, I read tenants were to park on the floor corresponding to the floor the lived on. Were there assigned spots?
I read last night that there were no assigned spots. It was somewhere in th South Side Flats whirlwind trying to find the horse.

I read in multiple places that tennant could park anywhere, that was on South Side's website or some area real eastate/apartment helper finder's site on a list of ammenities

Well, grab popcorn, because this next week will be a wild ride to watch. The multiple stories only increase "reasonable doubt". I doubt that the "prosecution" wants to really have any findings. And BTW, they could send out notices NEXT week for the grand jury to convene. This line of, "oh, it will take MONTHS", is a story.

This was linked last night.

She has been formally charged with manslaughter. A grand jury has convened. Officials said that additional charges could be filed as early as Monday.

Per the neighbor that is making the posts and videos on her Facebook page, residents can pay extra for reserved parking. She also stated the if you dont have reserved parking it is not at all unusual to have to park on a level in the garage that is different than the one you live.

Jmo... not finding an open space on your floor makes complete sense to me. There is never enough parking at apartment complexes.

It has been published very recently a grand jury will be convening Monday, Sept. 9, 2018. I saw it yesterday linked in this thread.

Does anyone know what time shifts start with DPD? If she worked a 12 hr shift that started at 7am, she would be off about 7 am. I understand she went to the store. Did the shooting take place at 930/10pm? 2.5 to 3 hrs at the store is a long time. A 14 hr shift would have her off at 9 pm approx and would make more sense with the time line. If she did get off at approx 7 pm there is some time to be accounted for.

Is the Monday being spoken about for possible charges the Monday coming up? Thanks.

Yes, day after tomorrow - at least that's the way I read it. Hope they know what they're talking about.

If Bo‘s apartment was 800 sq ft, I found one that would match the layout of his apartment, it’s just mirrorred (floor plan A3).

I mirrorred the image and it looks like Bo‘s apartment as shown in the CNN video (see location of kitchen counter, balcony and bedroom entrance).

Thank you. I'm trying to picture where they each were, considering it was reported they were 12-15 feet apart. And there is the bullet hole above and to the left of his couch.

G.A. Radvansky, a University of Notre Dame professor who has studied cognition and human memory, said that it was "plausible" that someone could falsely misidentify something familiar.

"In general, the more similar things are, the more likely such confusion can arise," Radvansky said. "That said, these confusions are often resolved quickly."
All of the experts agreed that many more questions would have to be answered before Guyger's credibility could be judged. They include whether Guyger was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, her level of fatigue, any history of emotional or medical problems, or any history she may have had with Jean, though initial reports suggested the two did not know each other. Authorities haven't released the recording of Guyger's 911 call or the results of her toxicology tests.

James Whalen, a defense attorney in Dallas, said the tape of Guyger's call to 911 after shooting Jean will be a critical gauge of her credibility. But how Jean may have responded will also be scrutinized as well, he said.

"He could be having the same reaction: 'Oh my God, somebody's coming in my apartment. I need to go protect myself,'" Whalen said. "He's viewing her as a threat, she's viewing him as a threat, and then we have this big misunderstanding."

Two bullet holes means she was using questionable ammo as in I'm thinking service ammo should not pentrate but mushroom to transfer all energy to the target while reducing the likelihood of passing through a target and striking an unintended target...........

My theory is she shot when he opened the door. The new search warrant and the hole in the wall would make sense then:
In addition, the returns say, photographs and additional video were seized, along with “laser measurements of firearm trajectory” and “gunshot residue collection from door frame and kitchen wall” of Jean’s apartment.
There is only one kitchen wall segment right behind the entrance.

I was wondering about that - do you think he was backing away from her (remembering the reported distance)?

I thought it meant her aim was lousy? One shot hit him and one hit the wall. moo

ETA: Did you think I meant there were two bullet holes when I said "bullet hole above and to the left of his couch"? If so, I'm sorry for the confusion. I was referring to one bullet hole.

Very early on it was alleged she was a "courtesy officer" at the complex and received a discount on her rent for services. I've not seen that verified nor has anyone said if a "courtesty officer" at that complex gets a "master key". It has been confirmed the complex management does indeed have pass keys or master keys for admin purposes, bug spraying etc..

They obtained a warrant for door system logs, elevator and other such items when they took the door locks and keys.
