GUILTY TX - Christina Morris, 23, Plano, 30 Aug 2014 - Enrique Arochi kidnapping trial #1

I know that my phone always loses cell service when I get into a parking garage. Doesn't explain why she wouldn't have called S.N. once she left the garage though....unless, of course, she was already incapacitated? IMO

Or maybe had her phone taken from her

Epperson: Followed-up a lead that Morris had been seen at a motel in the area. Mom and step mother met there. #arochitrial

Detective got a tip about possible sighting of #ChristinaMorris by worker at LaQuinta inside motel. #ArochiTrial

Thank you, TCMom. Appreciate the local insight...that info is very helpful. Her battery must have died then....which is why she didn't contact S.N. when she said she would. IMO
If her phone died would it still ping the tower?

Epperson: Both mom and step mom ruled out person in security video as Christina Morris. He has aided in other searches as well #arochitrial

Epperson followed up on a lead of a possible sighting of Morris at a McKinney hotel, wasn't her. #arochitrial

Hiya Minor! It'll be great to have your insights during this trial.

Hey geevee. Long time no see. I wish we could watch this one.

And I can't remember who posted it, but someone said that 11 days seems like a short trial. Not in Texas - the judges move things along and are not afraid to keep control of their courtrooms, for the most part.

I don't think so, wouldn't that be the same as removing the battery or turning it off?

Drug dealers are gone...or, at least, not going to be called to the stand.

Do you think EA's parents were avoiding HF and his co-dealer deliberately? I'm interested as to why that would be

  • #751
Maybe because they knew she was upset about HF, I don't see anything odd in speaking to a friend in such a situation, I though SN was actually messaging rather than talking, IIRC he said that his final message didn't indicate that it had been read

To be clear, I certainly understand that her friend SN was worried about her because of the drama going on between her and her BF. I just figured since EA was with her, there wouldn't be all this back and forth between her and SN about whether she got to her car OK. That said, when I was in my 20s, we didn't have cell phones and all the constant back and forth that goes on "nowadays," especially with the younger generation. Our modus operandi at that age was to simply call when we got home to let friends know we arrived OK. I need to remember that my kids, who are in their 20s and early 30s, are constantly on their cells texting. It's good to be reminded that this kind of "constant contact" is normal for people CM's age. :blushing:

That's very good news, I haven't been feeling very positive about the chances for the prosecution

I think he'll be convicted. Collin County is EXTREMELY conservative; it's likely to be a hang-em-high jury.

But, she used Arochi's cell to text/phone the drug dealer after they left the garage. So....

So good to see you again Minor. I really wish we could see this trial too. The prosecution said in openings it would be a 'long trial' but later a tweeter said it was expected to be 11 days, not that long in trial-watcher lingo. lol The judge has been letting testimony go past 5:00 so maybe he will get it done in 2 weeks.

Hmmm....good point. Early on in the first few threads this was discussed a lot. From what I recall, as long as a phone is turned on, it should ping. I am not sure if it will ping if it is turned off. I know that it will not ping if the battery is removed.

No, and we know that it did ping later so it was either charged up at some time if the reason for not returning SN's message was that the battery was dead or she didn't return the message for some other reason.

The things that puzzles me though is if EA had taken the phone why didn't he switch it off or throw it away if he didn't want Christina to be contacting anyone

There is no way to know that wasn't EA texting HF or CM.

I think I must be nearer your age than Christina's and I know exactly what you mean about always being in touch!

And I guess that's bourne out by jurors being dismissed for having made eir minds up or not being able to consider probation
