Seems if she were concerned about safety of the children, leaving them in the car with a dead body wouldn't be the way to go. Presumably she could have asked somebody to watch them while she did whatever.

I agree. But IMO when a person is thinking through the skewed filter of mental illness what might be "reasonable" to that person most likely would make no sense to people who are thinking clearly. Whatever the thought process it's a blessing the children survived and we can only pray that they will not be forever traumatized by their ordeal.

JUST IN: A Collin County medical examiner has ruled the cause of death for Christine Woo to be suicide by overdose.
Woo was found dead in her SUV in a Target parking lot last month.

This sad news hits on the same day as another suicide was publically announced for us Websleuthers and my heart just aches so much. The other thread in case you were not following it I am referencing is Nicole Mittendorf, the firefighter out of Virginia. Rest in peace to both of these beautiful ladies. I am very sorry life failed you, our systems failed you, and no one was able to rescue you to safety. Both of these young ladies were very strong, caretakers, and both seemed to have a great life going for them. Both of them and their suicide shocked the community. As a prior student peer counselor in high school, we were taught those who are most likely to do something of this nature are those who will not tell anyone and will go off in hiding. Those whom speak it or threaten it are less likely to pull it off. Also, it is a very common knowledge those who appear the strongest are often the weakest on the inside and more apt to crumble and fall. What can we learn moving forward? What can us sleuthers do to help shout out the true need for more mental awareness? We have got to do something.

I've been looking for news on this one, but I was hoping for a medical reason for her death. So sad. A few thoughts:

1. Was she trying to give the kids one last good time with Mommy? If she hadn't drugged them, as some have speculated, they were just awake in the car as she died? How awful. If she used sleeping pills, wouldn't it have taken a long time for her to die?

2. Any thoughts about the baby? I can see, as a mom, the comfort she would get from cradling her baby, but wouldn't she be worried about what would happen to the baby after her death? The older two were probably strapped in, but the baby on her lap seems even odder to me.

3. Does this maybe reflect on she viewed her husband? That she couldn't leave the kids with him bc she didn't trust him with them?

It almost seems like she was hurting enough to die, but not enough to harm her children (thankfully). Yet something was presenting her from leaving her kids with her husband or anybody else. Perhaps she felt alone and isolated.

This choice is baffling. I just thank God she didn't harm those children.

I would have to assume she wasn't thinking straight. Otherwise, allowing young children to witness their mother killing herself and then leaving them in car with a dead body is incredibly cruel. And if they weren't found when they were, they could have died from dehydration, suffering all the way until death.
I could even understand her deciding to kill herself and the children, but it just bizarre if she wanted to kill herself only but leave the children there in the car with her. If she was concerned about children's safety she could have left them with someone (obviously they had grandparents) while she went off to kill herself.

I agree that we just can't know how someone that is this depressed was thinking. Maybe having her kids with her was a comfort to her at the end. I personally believe that she thought she would be found more quickly. I mean, how surprised were we all that she was in a parking lot and the kids were alive and not found for 3 days!!

Also, I worry for the children, but honestly I think they may be young enough to basically forget. I know they were traumatized, but they were also dehydrated which caused drowsiness. I hope that they forget given time. I was told by a psychologist that my 3 year old would forget his "traumatic" situation due to his age. I am praying that these kids do as well. The oldest may remember some, but hopefully with love and the right parenting, hopefully it can be a small memory that doesn't affect them long term.

I feel so bad about the stemming increase in suicides lately. Personally, we have had 4 that are close to home in the past 6 months. It may not be, but it really feels like it is on the rise.

IMO I wonder if Christine thought having the children in the vehicle with her would be "safer" for them? I mean like strapped in their car seats, locked in the vehicle? That would minimize the physical danger to them vs if she were to be home alone with them. Three children could really get into trouble in a house "alone" vs being stuck in the car. Maybe she believed she would be found quickly and that maybe even the children crying or making noise would bring help almost immediately?

I think she purposefully went away from her house and agree she thought she would be found very quickly. I believe it was confirmed fact that her husband knew her last debit transaction was at McDonald's very early. I think she thought he would go straight there and find them. Maybe her holding the baby could have been also so someone might see the baby and rescue them. Clearly her mind was clouded. She most likely had a severe case of postpartum depression.

Well, rescuers DID find the children, but maybe she thought it would be a few hours at most. She didn't count on her husband not even reporting her missing until the next day and then, even after that, no one really searching nearby parking lots (I get people drove through them, but no one looked at every car).

And maybe SHE thought she had her phone. Remember her husband said he couldn't track her through her phone? He might have needed to do that before, but he got there pretty soon and she made an excuse which he believed. Maybe. I guess we'll never know.

Again, if she wanted to make them safe, she could have left them with someone else. As for them being found quickly, her husband didn't even report her missing until the next day evening. So I somehow doubt she assumed they would be found quickly.

No people don't always know they have their phones with them or not especially when you have three little ones in tow. I've gone up to an hour or two before realizing I had left my phone somewhere else. We will never know if it was left on purpose or not.

If you are planning to kill yourself and hope somebody tracks you by your cell phone then presumably you are going to check if you have this cell phone with you or not. So I personally don't question if she knew that she left it at home.

I never said every window was covered by sunshades. So, no, I don't have a link for something I never said to begin with. With front windows covered by shades, it would be a lot harder to see inside the car, even if side/back windows were not covered.
