I am not 100% certain why this is listed as an unidentified person case. According to this post on the Doe Network website, three men went on a deep sea fishing trip in early September of 2000. They were never heard from again. The remains found on Padre Island have been identified via DNA as belonging to two of the men (Helario Cardenas and Daniel Gonzalez). The third man, Modesto Robles, is still missing.

Could anybody with a newspapers.com account check and see for articles about the remains being identified as Cardenas and Gonzalez? I'm trying to figure out when this identification actually occurred but I'm not finding anything in online sources.

Newspapers listed and sources (but with no specific citations or links) on the Doe Network and Charley Project include The Corpus Christi Caller-Times, The Victoria Advocate, and The Amarillo Globe News.

Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated.
