GUILTY TX - Det. Benjamin Marconi, 50, fatally shot, San Antonio, 20 Nov 2016 *Arrest*

Sooo....did the person get pulled over on purpose to set this scenario up?

Or, did the pulled-over person (or associate) place the call at spur-of-the-moment when pulled over?

Either way, the perp was equipped and ready to kill.

Unbelievable.

Or the person getting the ticket had nothing to do with the shooter. Police aren't reporting any known connection.

It's Texas; he was packing.

Yes. It happened right by the station. So the killer might have headed to the station looking for a target and got 'lucky' when he came upon the traffic stop. A lot of police stations have been attacked lately and some officers have been shot just standing around nearby.

Our officers no longer loiter or walk around near the station because of this slaughter that has been going on lately.

If a person texts/calls another to 'alert' them to the fact a squad car has pulled a driver over -- (as in telling another with intent to snuff out the officer's life) does this count as premeditated ? Maybe not... but I hope they throw the book at the perp when he's apprehended.
Maybe the perp will go out in a blaze of gunfire which will spare the taxpayers in TX from having to support his worthless behind until he's dead. Certainly he'll get lwop if caught.

Rest in peace, Det. Marconi. Thank you for your service to your city.

This hits close to home for me. My niece and nephew's step dad is a SA police officer and close friend of this officer.

San Antonio's a great town. Chief McManus is an excellent chief. I lived there when he came.

They'll catch him. God willing, no more blood will be shed.

Mitsubishi's are less common than most other brands and those rims are pretty unique so this dirtbag will hopefully be identified soon. RIP to the officer.

I have an uncle who lives in SA. Whoever did this, just signed his own death warrant. I hope they bury him in his boots. Or throw him in the lions cage at the zoo.

SMH..,how awful. They need to up the reward to encourage someone to snitch. The only solace in this is that it happened in Texas, so this evil low life is already a dead man walking.

Officers used to feel pretty safe when sitting in their patrol cars. NOW they don't. Some urban precincts have been having cars shadowing each other lately. Just to prevent them being ambushed like this. Pretty sad times, imo.

Hope we get some good news they got this creep behind bars! The sooner, the better!

An officer was shot in Los Angeles yesterday:

A Hawthorne police officer was shot in the leg Saturday in an exchange of gunfire with a gunman wielding a machete inside a storage facility, authorities said.

The gunman also was wounded and hospitalized, police said. A second officer involved in the shooting was injured.

The gunfire at the Public Storage business on Rosecrans Avenue near Inglewood Avenue erupted shortly after officers responded to a disturbance call at 4:20 p.m. A man was possibly refusing to leave, Hawthorne police Lt. Gary Tomatani said.

U.S. Marshall's office HAS confirmed they arrested a POI in the shooting death of Ben. However, they did not release a name, or confirm this is the person shown on video earlier.
