After listening to Sergeant Ritchie and knowing what his clearance rate is and him being a veteran LEO, I took everything he said as gospel. I do believe that this person knew she would be off of work that day and would be home and they knew he would be going to work. They knew approximately when he was going to leave as well. They also knew to use a revolver and use a vehicle that was hard to trace. If this car was not available to rent and they could not find one that was registered that was the right match for the one seen on camera and there were none reported stolen in that area at that time, then they either borrowed it or drove it a long way, possibly out of state. When he says he told her parents to be prepared to be devastated, that gave me some chills.

I’ve always thought this was way closer to home than we imagine.

There was a Trans one- a guy who liked to dress up in women's clothing somewhere on the East Coast of the US who was recently in a program on serial killers. I'll be back with the name if I think of it. His victims were female- from young girls to women. I think his name was something like Arlyn Brown or something, but nothing is coming up on him. He turned religious in prison and confessed to another prison whom he thought was Jesus because he had a long beard.

IIRC, the actual perp got out on the passenger side of the truck. Big 6'6 dude could have been the driver, easily identifiable due to his height, so he had a wife/girlfriend/SO do the dirty work.

I agree that the big 6 ft dude could have gotten someone to do his dirty work for him. My thoughts too.
Curious why Sgt. Ritchie was quick to move along so fast about this guy, but I am sure he's keeping things close to the vest. Very likable and relatable Sgt. I like how Sgt is thinking about maybe he should stop thinking that the killer knew about the garage sale. However, I am firm believer that the killer knew about the garage sale.

Sgt is passionate about Liz's case!

Id suggest giving this case to a college cold case team or professional cold case team for assistance (even though he doesnt consider it a cold case).

Id also suggest going through the first 20/25 pages of the initial report and re-interview everyone.

It is possible that the killer got in the back of the cab, rather than as the driver. We just dont know.

I do see a passenger in the vehicle (but Ive not watched grainy video for sometime now). IIRC, the person apparently is wearing a mask. jmo

You are absolutely right. I just watched it again on full screen and see the figure walk in front of the headlights.

It was interesting to see the killer walk in front of the headlights - creepy. jmo

I just looked this up, wow I'd never heard of this case. Strangely enough her name is Juana Barraza. They thought she was a man in women's clothing because of her build.

Keep hoping for updates in Elizabeth's case. I really hope it's solved one day. It feels like it should have been by now.

Oh there was also a woman named Joanna Hayes in Georgia who killed her daughter-in-law in a parking lot next to her car- custody dispute, and Joanna dressed as a man wearing a wig and mustache.

I am convinced that the killer was a backseat passenger and got in on the driver side back seat and there were probably 2 other people in the front seat, possibly one being the "mastermind". I am also convinced the shooter was nothing more than a hired hand and did not know Liz.

It sounds like your theory is a paid hit. But what could have the victim been involved in, that would end up in some sort of murder for hire?

It's a very confident thing to do, and to me it says this person was never worried that this truck would be identified. They had to assume they would be seen on cameras. They were in fact caught on camera, coming and going from the scene that morning, and looking around the night before.

To me this means it had no plates at the time of the murder.

Even if you think of the scenarios where I could get a vehicle that had no linkage to me on paper, even with many degrees of separation, each degree is linked to the last and eventually police get close enough to figure it out.

This is what is bothering me- it is most likely someone she knew, who owns or has access to a truck like that, who knew her schedule to the minute that morning, and had a beef with Liz; and not a single person in her sphere can think of anyone who that description might fit?

Also, what can one say about Liz’ reaction to the person? A guy or a woman walking around garage sales in a drag at 7 am would be mildly surprising, even if you are in cosplaying business. Does Liz look surprised? I think she looks aware, there is something she didn’t like, even initially, but i think it was something different.

It got me thinking of how colossal a task an investigator faces when looking at the victim's circle of friends, acquaintances and family members. Especially in this case in terms of acquaintances because the victim was involved in charity work and probably encountered so many people through that. Easy to rule out the obvious suspects here based on the vehicle. And it could simply be that someone knows a guy who repairs or rents out vehicles.... or maybe a valet?

It got me thinking of how colossal a task an investigator faces when looking at the victim's circle of friends, acquaintances and family members. Especially in this case in terms of acquaintances because the victim was involved in charity work and probably encountered so many people through that. It is my feeling that lots of cases were slowed down during COVID, for obvious reason. But I remember that Liz's parents were very thankful for det. Richie's support so wishing him the best of luck.

We have cases where the police may have a guess, and there is a feeling but something is amiss to create the full picture. I hope that detective Richie will find this missing detail.
