Do you feel that the person obsessed with Liz comes from her recent time, but is just lying low and her circle was large, hence, it is hard to notice him/her?

Or do you think that the person come from her more recent past?
Whether they come from her recent or distant past, I think whatever triggered their murderous rage happened fairly recently. They may have had an old grudge about something, but there had to be something that happened recently to set them to planning her murder.

And there was a certain degree of planning that went into the ambush and murder. They were very methodical about it. They had the timing of Sergio’s departure, the visits the night before, the vehicle that couldn’t be easily identified , the disguise.

I also find it interesting in an earlier post where someone researched to find that previous murders in the victim’s driveway were most often contract murders.

(A note to myself: the murder of Karen Carter in Dordogne, France. It has a thread here. And the French police, having exhausted the local leads, as it seems, wonders if it was a contract killing.)

The poster who made a list of “driveway murders” also explained the potential involvement or the suspects. It seems, at least to me, that the motive in most cases was financial.

Am sure Sergio has wracked his brain as to who could possibly have done this but he needs to think and re-think. again. I know he's married again with a young child but this is important. Did he ever go out with a woman who got obsessed with him and thought he was hers? Can he think of anything at all. Am sure this is solvable. It's not road rage or mistaken ID, am pretty sure of that. She/he showed her something, maybe to let her know before she died why this had happened. Her parents and friends too should think, did she ever go out with a man who got obsessed then angry when she got with Sergio. This could have festered for a few years whilst they've been married and they finally snapped. Was there anyone at the cos-play who got obsessed with one of them?

FWIW I don't think Sergio or any family member is involved. I may be wrong....

Obsessed with either Sergio or the life Sergio had with Liz, not realizing that Sergio is pretty flexible and malleable and that life was very much organized by Liz.

You know what stood out in Det. Richie’s interview?

Starting with 15:24, Richie is describing Liz and Sergio as a couple. And he talks about great and happy life that they had. He says, “they didn’t have children. They were not planning on any children.”

And for some reason, it stuck in my mind. Detective Richie had a good ability to say a lot without saying too much.

You are writing, “he is married again with a child”. Obviously. Two years have passed, Sergio married another woman, who IMHO is very distantly, but of Liz’s style. (Sergio was sincere when he described how he instantly got attracted to Liz when he first saw her.) His new wife is now sharing his interests with 501, and he, moving into a different decade, developed interest in having a kid; perhaps in his new circle of friends, there are more couples with kids. And it is just my opinion, but it would seem that as Liz was balancing all their budget (det. Richie mentioned it), Sergio's new wife is also quite an active partner in their family.

So I wonder: if, as you say, there was a person so obsessed with Sergio, was she of the rigid type, believing that people never change? Constant 501 legionnairing into their 80-es, never changing their strong childfree views, traveling? Did that person imagine living that “perfect life” with him that Liz had?

Detective Richie describes it well. Liz and Sergio loved to travel, too. Both worked, both had interest in Star Wars and 501 legion. IMHO, both were mature vicenarians.

So should the obsessed person share all these interests, too? Maybe even some other interests that Sergio had? Thinking it would be easy to step in because they were "soulmates"?

And - if your theory is right (I am not quite sure, but if it is) - I think that the friends from Liz/Sergio’s circle should also try their hardest to remember if anyone was criticizing Liz for being too controlling in her marriage, or saying something of “poor Sergio” type, or saying “she’s got everything plus this wonderful guy”. Somehow, if the person’s obsession showed itself, it would be through similar words. Uttering something envious like “she doesn’t know how lucky she is” and deifying Sergio, or their life with Liz.
