GUILTY TX - Emma Thompson, 4, dies with STD, skull fracture, Spring, 27 June 2009

OMG Curious - that is horrible. Half of these deaths could have and SHOULD have been prevented. I'm so sad.

Does Texas have a CASA program? Is there a CASA involved in every CPS case? There should be!

Absolutely heartbreaking.........

Salem

There actually is CASA in Texas - not sure if they're involved in every CPS case: http://www.texascasa.org/

Not new, but I just saw this and wanted to add it to the thread.

Abigail Elizabeth Young, 33, and her boyfriend Lucas Ruric Coe, 27, are charged in the death of Young's 4-year-old daughter Emma Thompson. Young is free on $50,000 bail and a judge today placed strong restrictions on her future contact with her surviving children. Coe is still in jail. Authorities have said Emma suffered 80 bruises, a fractured skull, a brain hemorrhage and a vaginal tear.

Thanks Curious.

Kitty cat moment-she did NOT wear that outfit.

Keep this woman away from any other children, especially her own! I can't wrap my mind around the horrid life that poor Emma lived, during her, 4 short years. How sad it is to think that Emma, probably WELCOMED death, when it came. The courts would never give the sentence I would dole out, if in charge. Despite what happens here, they will be held accountable in the highest court of all and sentenced, accordingly.

Emma suspect now accused of raping her
By TERRI LANGFORD Copyright 2009 Houston Chronicle

Lucas Coe, the 27-year-old Magnolia man accused of injury to a child in the death of 4-year-old Emma Thompson, now faces a new charge: that he also raped the young girl before her death in June.

Coe and Emma's mother, registered nurse Abigail Young, were arrested and charged with serious bodily injury to a child after the girl's June 27 death. At the time, Emma had a skull fracture, vaginal tearing and more than 80 bruises covering her body. She died two weeks after Texas Child Protective Services discovered the girl had tested positive for genital herpes.

On Oct. 29, Harris County grand jurors returned an indictment against Coe, accusing him of Emma's sexual assault. If convicted, he would face a minimum of 25 years in prison because the victim was under the age of 6.

The indictment comes about a month after the Harris County District Attorney's Office secured a sample of Coe's blood. It is not known if DNA from the blood ties Coe to the girl or whether prosecutors are using other evidence to support the indictment.

Coe's attorney says there is no evidence that connects his client to the sexual assault.

“I saw nothing in the file that would indicate how he could have perpetuated the crime he was indicted for,” said Bert Steinmann, Coe's attorney. “I am clueless as to how they are connecting him with committing the sexual assault.”

Donna Hawkins, a spokeswoman for the prosecutors, declined to comment on the case.

Young, Coe's girlfriend, also has genital herpes, according to the 33-year-old's attorney, Colin Amann.

“She does not know where she got it,” he said. “She may have gotten it from Emma.”

Neither Amann nor Coe's attorney would say whether Coe also has genital herpes, though Steinmann said “medical records from previous doctors” don't indicate that he does.

I'm sorry-I must be confused. Mom is accusing EMMA of transmitting genital herpes to HER?

This takes blaming the victim to a new level. OOHHHH right-This is the same EXCELLENT nurse who told DCS officials that you could get herpes from a toilet seat, right?

PULL HER LICENSE please and then charge her with the murder of her child. JMO.

DA: Suspect In 4-year-old Emma Thompson's Death Also Raped Her

HOUSTON -- A Harris County grand jury has indicted Lucas Coe on a charge of sexually assaulting 4-year-old Emma Thompson, the little girl he's accused of killing.

The Spring girl died at a Woodlands hospital on June 27. The autopsy showed Emma had "80 contusions, a severe head laceration, a scalp hemorrhaging, skull fracture, internal bleeding, a severe tear and hemorrhaging to the vagina."

The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the abdominal area which had caused several internal injuries.

Emma's mother, Abigail Elizabeth Young, initially told investigators Emma was hurt when she fell out of bed.

"The statements given by both the mother of the child and the boyfriend were inconsistent with injuries presented," said Anthony Kelly, who worked on the case.

Coe and Young were both arrested and charged with felony injury to a child.

CPS began investigating the family in early June after Emma's father called to report she was covered in bruises. Her pediatrician had also contacted CPS because he suspected blisters in her mouth and genital area were caused by genital herpes.

An exam at Texas Children's Hospital found no evidence of sexual abuse so CPS didn't remove Emma from the home. Weeks later, she was dead.

Because of Emma's case, CPS decided to use more aggressive procedures when investigating allegations of abuse in children with sexually transmitted diseases.

Emma's two sisters have been placed with grandparents.

Sheriff's detectives say they are looking into every child the couple has come into contact with, including Coe's own 4-year-old daughter.

CPS also had investigated Coe three times in unrelated cases involving another girlfriend's child. He has a criminal history that includes charges of assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief.

Coe remains jailed without bond.

If convicted, he and Young could be sentenced up to life in prison.

Can I just put a bullet in their heads...
It'll be worth the flight to Texas!

Sorry to be repetitive but waiting patiently for the charges to be upgraded for both perps...

We have the death penalty here and if anyone ever qualified Coe & Young should both be charged accordingly. Honestly, which is worse, a sexual sadist that kills his 4 yo victim or the mother that knew what he was and invited him to live with her 3 daughters?

I'm hoping for the death penalty for both. Poor little Emma had so many injuries, neither mom nor Coe should be sharing our oxygen with us now. JMO.

:furious:

All cases involving kids are very, very hard, but cases like this push ones emotions and senses to another depth, numb and heartbreaking.

No matter how the 'mother' in this case is defended, she is just as guilty, if not more, than the monster she allowed into her childrens lives. As a 'gifted nurse' she let down the one being that should have received her help, as a mother, she let down her own flesh and blood, a precious baby, who' first radiant smile would have been directed towards her eyes... She knew what was going on without a doubt.

I cannot even imagine how much pain and suffering that child went through.

I read that she comes from a wealthy family, educated, etc, Does anyone know what her previous relationships were like, ( different fathers to her kids) do any of these men say anything. Did she like the 'bad boy' image and thought that this monster fit the bill, what made her so loyal to him that she would stake her childs life for his?
Did her low self esteem, age difference, make her even more determined to do anything and everything for him?

How can a mother not feel for her baby, how could she look at her injuries and not care.

They both need to be slowly tortured and disposed off this planet.

CPS should be held accountable for their inaction to remove these children.

I believe that the other 2 kids should go to their fathers, or where it would be safe, grandmother wrong choice for them now, they need to be protected and nutured in a stress free, loving environment, grandmother cannot provide this with what is happening with her daughter.

Texas juries do not have much sympathy for child raping killers or their enablers.

However, TX child protective services is so sorely lacking in the 'protective' part of their duty that too many of these cases end up before a jury.

It's such a shame the way our great state is failing so many little ones.

I thought Emma's sister and half-sister were living with Emma's paternal grandparents, where her father also lives?

Thankyou, Yes you are right.

Although I would still like to know to what extent did all these people have in these childrens lives previous to all of this.
