@DavidGonzKHOU· 1m

Crews are covering up the vehicle with some kind of tarp before pulling it from the water so it will be tough to point out the make and model of the vehicle. #khou11

Missing mom Erica Hernandez's vehicle found submerged in Pearland pond | abc13.com

Update:
The Houston Police Department dive team assisted Pearland police in the recovery. Divers entered the water at about 5:30 p.m. Just moments before 7 p.m., the dark-colored SUV was brought to the surface of the water. Divers covered the vehicle with a tarp as it was towed onto the bank of the pond.

No information has been provided about the person found inside the vehicle.

If authorities know how the body and vehicle came to be in the water, they have not yet given out that information.

Family members of missing mom Erica Hernandez are on the scene of the investigation.

ETA: Note the title to this article! It must have updated AGAIN as I was posting.

Yes. Unfortunately it appears to be a black GMC SUV. Waiting for officials to confirm.

IMHO This pond is within the area that Erica reportedly traveled, so I think it is possible that this was a road accident that resulted in her car going into the retention pond.

How could someone end up in there? Looks like it's not super close to the road. Is it poorly lit around there such that it would be pitch black in the night or something? Wonder if she was intoxicated. Explains why the friend was texting to make sure she got home okay. OR was she murdered prior and this was all staged?

Deleted because I can’t find a news story that I can link. It came across my local news alert but it just leads to the press conference when I try to follow it.

That he said damage was consistent with jumping the curb, would that point to the vehicle going at quite a speed? Especially since it's a sturdy SUV.

I've jumped a curb by accident, at slow speed...no damage to my small car.

Pearland will be taking over the investigation.
Officials would not confirm it is Erica in the SUV due to the process they must take in confirmation from medical examiner.
It was stated they feel the vehicle has been in the water since the time Erica went missing.
It was asked if there was any damage to the SUV. LE responded yes; damage was consistent with the vehicle hitting the curb and entering the water.
Water depth ranges from 8-15’ deep

Police confirmed that it is her vehicle —- I’m wondering if this was an accident it was late at night and she could have thought she was making a turn at the intersection instead drove into the pond. I read somewhere police said there was damage on the car consistent with hitting the curb at high speed.
