Thanks gardner1850 .

"More than a week after the body of a young boy washed up on Stewart Beach."

Author:Brett Buffington

So they are saying "washed up" ?

Currents were going westward in the days before the find .
The boy didn't come from the west, if you use that to narrow down the parameters.
More chance from east side ,
lets find out what the wind direction was on the 18, 19 & 20th oct17 .
Lets find the boys name .

Every news station has reported him as washed up since he was discovered - I believe they all use this term because he was found on the beach and that is what seems logical to them. I don't think police have officially said they believe he washed up. In a press conference they said "we don't know if he was placed here, if he washed up or even if he fell"

The ship channel is dredged to create those depths that the ships need to safely travel in and out - the long jetties combined with that create stronger currents https://www.bizjournals.com/houston...ip-channel-in-desperate-need-of-dredging.html
The Missisippi also contributes to the E - W currents https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/loopcurrent.html
The MSM comment regarding 'washed up' does not denote COD

Thank you all for your continued input to WS and am glad to be a part of this community. I am looking forward to hearing this child's COD. Hopefully we will discover his identity quickly.

Yes, here’s a lead. Galveston’s little guy did come from the east and here’s the animation:

Oceanic currents for this time travel along the beach in a south-west direction (from the north east) along the shoreline from RA Apffel East Beach Park.

With gratitude to WSers meticulously and richieswan. Thank you!

This time of year Apffel and East beach are even more desolate than where he was found, no one would have been around to see this little one being placed in the water - and those beaches are accessible by vehicle.

‘On October 20, 2017 an unidentified boy was found deceased along the beach in Galveston, Texas. The child’s body was found washed up on the beach near the 700 block of Seawall Blvd in Galveston. The child had been deceased 1-2 days before being found. He is estimated to be 3-5 years old and believed to be Hispanic or Caucasian. He had black hair, brown eyes and stood approximately 3 feet tall weighing around 28 pounds. The image above is a hand sketch composite provided by Texas authorities showing what the child may have looked like in life.’

Sorry if this has been brought up - but I'm about 100 posts behind - but did anyone notice that the article says black hair and the flyer says brown hair???

Yes. LE states he has black hair, flyer and Lois’ sketch indicate that he has brown hair. I searched misper lists for both. Also for males one year either side of this little guy’s estimated age range.

I wonder if there are CCTV cameras, either belonging to the city or private businesses, and/or mobile (cell) phone masts in the area? LE could request people to check their recordings and providers to supply data from ‘tower dumps’:

Thanks for the info Sleuthin’. You’re right, we don’t yet know our little guy’s COD so if he was living or deceased when entering the Gulf. I hope we’ll hear more from the ME and Capt. Schirard soon. I’d hate to think he will remain UID and be laid to rest without his name.

I think the only place that MAY have been able to get video survellience would be the little surf shop located on the sand on the same beach - however they are closed for the season and are all boarded up (making it tough for thieves to break in) I'm not sure they'd even have cameras there. But I'm sure GPD is looking into anything and everything.

I think the most annoying part about LE is the way they say this type of thing just doesn't happen here in Galveston, to me that is them trying to ensure that we keep tourists coming back.

And two infant deaths in two months at the same apartment complex.

This type of thing absolutely does happen here, far too often.

Took a pumpkin out to his memorial this morning.

Thanks for the info about CCTV, etc, Lyssa. I can see why you’re annoyed after reading the article. Children suffer at the hands of people who are supposed to care for them all too often.

I can understand the problem having LE and tourism controlled by the city. We only have State and Federal police here but even so the involvement of politicians can cause problems.

Oh bless you for taking a pumpkin for him, Lyssa and thank you for the photo. Our little guy’s memorial is so beautiful. It’s lovely that Galvestonians have taken the time to remember a little lost boy. Please blow him a kiss for me if you go to visit him again x

BBM.

I agree. It makes me so sad to see that someone, years after they have been found, still doesn't have their name. I mean, everyone should have someone who loves you and knows you are missing/deceased, the simplicity in having your name in death seems like the minimum anyone should have.

I think he was killed by an abusive parent. I wonder if they will release any details of his autopsy.

Capt. Schirard said early in the piece that our little guy had few noticeable injuries other than skin abrasions. He thought they could be caused by the sand as he was ‘washed ashore’. So, depending on his COD, his death may have been accidental and his parent(s) are scared to come forward because they are undocumented (or are unable to because they are modern slaves).

The link Lyssa posted (above) gave me pause for thought though:

’In the previous death, 1-year-old Esterilla Enriquez died of asphyxiation, and the child’s mother, Kayla Stouten-Orozco, 23, of Galveston, was charged with murder.

Stouten-Orozco is accused of tying a piece of clothing around her crying daughter’s mouth and locking the infant alone in a bedroom, police officials reported.’

I’d be really interested to find out why this little girl’s parent felt the need to keep her daughter quiet and unseen and if this is a common practice/COD. I am not condoning this little girl’s murder but I would like to know her parent’s motive.

You would also think that our little guy has family who love and miss him, need to grieve for their loss and lay him to rest. A grandmother, grandfather, sister, brother, aunt, uncle. Someone.

Estrella’s parent was convicted of child abandonment/endangerment:

Under the circumstances this report is an interesting read, particularly the statistics for the age, gender and ethnicity of child asphyxiation/drowning victims and of the corresponding perpetrators (.pdf):

I don't think she was trying to keep her quiet and unseen, I think she was mad and tired of her crying and acted out in an abusive manner. I have never herd of gagging an infant being an accepted practice ..

I wondered about that before I read the article and the report on child fatalities I posted (above). Terrible thing to do to a child whatever the circumstances.

My hubby worked with the little girls grandpa. The mom had friends over and I guess she didn't want to deal with the baby and was angry that she wouldn't stop crying. :(

That’s terribly sad, Lyssa. Poor little love.

Also, I just wanted to clarify that I didn’t mean asphyxia was a common ‘practice’ across the board — it was specifically in relation to a child’s COD with little other immediately noticeable injuries as in the cases you posted above.

I hope our little guy’s parent(s) aren’t victims of human trafficking and/or homicide and that’s why he/she/they haven’t been able to come forward.

We had a terrible case here in Australia recently when an UID little girl’s remains were found in 2015. Her DNA was subsequently matched to that of her mother whose UID remains were found in another state in 2010. Both were only listed as mispers for a short amount of time due to someone impersonating the mother during phone calls to her family (despite both her and her daughter being victims of homicide in late 2009):
